Prague, Pink Tutus and Perfect Ponies - Blog Post #1017

Wednesday, 3rd December 2014

Hello my lovely tutu-tastic readers! It's Emma here, reporting live from the utterly magical city of Prague! You might think, "Prague? In December? Isn't it freezing?" Well, you'd be right, it is quite chilly, but Prague is breathtakingly beautiful at this time of year, decked out in sparkling Christmas lights and charming, traditional markets. And it's just perfect for exploring in a fabulous pink tutu, of course!

Now, this trip has been a whirlwind of fairytale charm. My journey here began in good old Derbyshire, where I embarked on a picturesque train journey – you know me, can't resist a bit of old-fashioned romance! Arriving in Prague was like stepping into a storybook; cobbled streets, medieval towers, and an atmosphere that feels straight out of a ballet performance.

Speaking of ballets, the whole reason for my trip is to see "The Nutcracker" at the stunning National Theatre, the heart of Czech ballet! You can just imagine my excitement, right? The National Theatre boasts incredible architecture and its history is fascinating – the building has faced fires and even floods! But Czech ballet has persevered and has such a strong and renowned heritage. The sheer scale of this theatre was enough to send a tutu-wearing ballerina into a happy frenzy!

Before diving into the world of "The Nutcracker," I just had to get a bit of shopping done. You can't visit a new city without treating yourself to some local treasures! Luckily, Prague has an abundance of stylish boutiques and independent shops, perfect for finding that unique statement piece to make your tutu-wearing wardrobe pop. And what could be more charming than a cobbled street dotted with quaint shops? Honestly, I think Prague might have become my favourite shopping destination – I managed to snag a darling blush pink velvet bag, the perfect accessory for any occasion.

And speaking of pink velvet, remember I mentioned the fairytale element? Well, my darling friends, Prague is bursting with fairy tale-like charm. Every corner feels magical, every sight postcard-worthy. The Charles Bridge, with its towering baroque statues and the Vltava river meandering beneath, is simply stunning. You know, you'd expect nothing less when you find a city that even boasts a little Prague Castle – so pretty, I might cry! The majestic views from the castle's grounds make the entire experience pure magic. I'm picturing myself on a fairytale train ride now, arriving at this fairy-tale location with a perfect pink tutu on...

Now, as for the ballet...well, you're going to need to get comfy for this one, because it's a story that deserves to be told. The Nutcracker is, of course, a beloved Christmas classic, and the National Theatre brought it to life in a way that had me utterly captivated.

The stage was bathed in dazzling lights, and the dancing...well, let's just say it made my toes tap! From the whimsical and graceful waltzing snow fairies to the fierce and captivating sugar plum fairies, every moment was beautifully choreographed. The story unfolded with such emotion, and the costumes...oh my! From Clara's bright red dress to the Drosselmeyer’s iconic pink jacket, each one added to the overall enchantment.

You know, the beauty of a ballet like this is the pure joy it brings to people of all ages. I saw families with wide-eyed children mesmerised by the story, couples holding hands in romantic appreciation, and individuals lost in the pure artistry. It was such a lovely reminder of why I love ballet so much - it has this magical way of bringing everyone together.

Even as I'm writing this, I can't shake the feeling of the sheer magic that filled the theatre that night. Every performance, every detail, felt like a testament to the artistry and dedication of the ballet dancers and the incredible creative minds behind the entire production. This whole trip is a testament to the beautiful synergy between artistry and travel.

And, my darlings, it wouldn't be a proper "Emma's Pink Tutu" blog post without talking about horses. I mean, every fairytale needs a good dose of equestrian enchantment! During a sunny day (yes, sunny days in December exist, who knew?) I took a short journey into the heart of Prague's stunning countryside. I hopped on the back of a charming and beautiful black pony (because I am a princess after all) and set off on a picturesque trek through fields that were draped in frosty dew, passing villages with brightly colored cottages and farmhouses with Christmas decorations. It truly felt like stepping back in time!

It’s not every day you get to ride through a fairytale landscape on a gorgeous pony, right? And in a perfect pink tutu, no less! That moment, with the gentle sun, the whispering wind, the feel of the pony's smooth coat beneath my hand – it just reminded me that sometimes, the simple pleasures are the most beautiful. You see, darling readers, it's the everyday moments, the everyday adventures that make the tutu-wearing lifestyle so special. It's about embracing the joy in the ordinary, finding the magic in every moment.

But it's not just about tutus, pony rides, and fairy-tale landscapes. It's about the passion, the joy, the pursuit of that little pink twinkle that makes life feel magical!

And remember, my lovely tutu-loving readers, always stay twirling! I'm off to explore more of this enchanting city. Catch you next week with more adventures from the city that makes every day feel like a beautiful ballet performance. Until then, embrace your pink side!

Emma
