Pink Tutu Prague - Post #1021 🩰💕✨

Happy New Year, Darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means a brand new Pink Tutu post from your favourite ballerina blogger, straight from the magical city of Prague!

Oh my, the cobblestones, the fairytale castles, the endless mugs of hot chocolate… Prague has truly stolen my heart. I landed last Saturday and it's already a whirlwind of breathtaking sights, amazing shows, and enough delicious pastries to make a tutu-wearing ballerina cry with joy!

Speaking of joy, I can't believe I'm writing this from my cute little hotel room in the Old Town square, just a stone's throw from the Charles Bridge. My window looks onto the beautiful Christmas Market – it's still here, which I absolutely adore! Every time I peer out, I get a twirl in my toes, it's just so pretty and festive.

New Year, New Tutu!

I just HAD to treat myself to a brand new tutu for Prague – wouldn't you? It's a gorgeous light pink number, absolutely perfect for the twinkling Christmas lights. It's got tiers and tiers of the softest tulle, a shimmering sequined waistband, and even tiny pink butterflies hand-stitched all over the bottom. I'm feeling like a fairy princess!

This one's going to get a LOT of wear – Prague's cobbled streets are practically begging to be twirled upon, and there are so many grand squares and pretty gardens to pirouette around. And let's be honest, a tutu and a city like Prague, it's practically made in heaven!

A Passion for Performance

This week I was lucky enough to catch an absolutely fabulous performance by the Prague National Theatre Ballet. It was the 'Nutcracker,' one of my all-time favourite ballets – I have to admit, seeing it in Prague, in a beautiful grand old theatre, just made it all the more magical. It had everything: a perfect blend of classical choreography, vibrant colours, and, of course, a stunning tutu for the Sugar Plum Fairy – all that sparkle made me feel like I was watching my own ballet dream come true!

After the performance, I did a little tutu-clad shopping spree in the Old Town, and bought myself the cutest little pink satin handbag and a set of adorable ballet-themed earrings – they even have tiny ballet slippers on them!

Tutu Inspiration: Prague's Ballet History

Even on my off-ballet days, Prague is just bursting with ballerina inspiration. It’s such a history-soaked city, with an incredible dance heritage dating back to the Middle Ages. You can practically feel the footsteps of legendary ballerinas waltzing through the cobblestones.

Today, I'm off to the Czech National Museum to see some incredible costumes from past productions at the Prague National Theatre. I just love getting to see how fashion and dance have blended throughout the years!

From Derbyshire to Prague - My Train Travel Tale

One thing I simply HAVE to tell you about is my train journey to Prague – it was an adventure from start to finish! My trip began in Derbyshire, the heart of the Peak District. You might know that Derbyshire is full of pretty villages and dramatic valleys. But I bet you don't know that they're home to the cutest little train stations too, and this one, nestled in the countryside, was practically begging for a pink tutu photo op!

After saying goodbye to the charming old station, I boarded my high-speed train – a proper comfy one, complete with plush seats, windows that offered stunning views of the countryside, and even a trolley cart with warm pretzels!

And of course, there had to be a good bit of tutu twirling. The train’s rhythmic motion was just perfect for pirouette practice! All in all, my train journey was a proper magical journey in itself.

Fashion Inspiration: Prague's Charming Boutiques

Shopping for a girl who loves pink and tutus in a place as stunning as Prague – is it even a question? I have been busy discovering all the cutest little boutiques in the Old Town, each packed with little treasures that beg to be worn. I've found a beautiful pink cashmere shawl that I can't wait to style with a simple white ballet top for the New Year's Eve celebration (the Prague New Year's Eve fireworks are famous, and I just know it'll be incredible!)

More to come...

This week's post is getting a little too long for a ballerina’s attention span – there’s so much to talk about!

More from Prague:

  • The Prague National Ballet: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes (We’ll have to explore a behind the scenes tour – hopefully there will be pink tulle backstage to twirl around!)
  • More on Prague’s rich Dance History (Can you even imagine what tutus must have been like hundreds of years ago!)
  • My Favourite Pink-Tutu-Friendly Spots in Prague (You’ll want to mark down my picks!)
  • And so much more!!

See you next Wednesday, darlings! And don't forget, keep on twirling! 🩰 💕 ✨

XOXO Emma
