Prague: A Pink Tutu Paradise - Post #1034
Bonjour mes amies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting installment of my Pink Tutu travels, this time from the magical city of Prague! This week's adventure takes us on a journey filled with cobblestones, castles, and, of course, a delightful dose of ballet.
As always, it’s been a whirlwind week! It’s so good to be back in the magical city of Prague – It’s always full of delights and wonderful sights! You just can’t help but get swept away by the magic and charm here – I'm smitten! It feels as though time has simply stopped here – in a very beautiful way. All that romantic history! I've got the cutest little pink tutu on - it's covered in delicate Prague-inspired embroideries – I think it looks simply delightful with the stunning architecture.
Oh, but I'm getting ahead of myself! Before we get into all the magical details, let’s rewind to how I even got to this fairytale-like city, shall we?
I decided to take the train! You know me - I adore the romance of train journeys! I spent the entire time lost in a beautifully-illustrated book about the history of tutus. It's fascinating! Did you know that tutus started out as just long skirts in the early days of ballet, only becoming the voluminous skirts we know today in the mid-19th century? I was particularly smitten with the history of the "Romantic Tutu" – you know, with all the wispy layers, light as a feather, creating this gorgeous silhouette, almost as though the dancer was floating on air. I'd love to try that style on one of my performance dresses! It’s so elegant and flowing. It made the journey feel like part of the performance, wouldn’t you agree?
Then, imagine my surprise when the train arrived right in the heart of Prague. It felt like walking into a fairytale – a dream. The old world architecture, the quaint cobblestone streets… The beauty took my breath away. You really feel like you've stepped back in time. You might just even bump into a real life prince or princess!
Of course, what is a pink tutu trip to Prague without some good shopping? My pink tutu obsession was going full tilt this week – and thankfully, Prague seems to be as in love with all things pink as I am. My bag now sports a new, gorgeous pink leather purse that looks like it was plucked straight from a Parisian fashion house. Just a small detail that took my everyday looks to the next level - you know me, I just can’t resist a little sparkle and shine! Speaking of shine…
…I was lucky to come across a delightful little boutique nestled down a hidden cobbled street. I stepped through the door, and it was like a ballet costume explosion. You could just imagine the magic coming out of those costumes, and you could tell every detail was painstakingly crafted! The seamstress, a sweet old lady with a kind twinkle in her eye, actually custom-made a little ballet skirt for me out of an absolutely gorgeous peachy-pink satin – my favourite colour, you know. The detail was incredible - a delicate cascade of pearls at the hemline. It just cried out "Princess!" And it fit perfectly with my dreamy pink tutus - you really couldn’t get more Parisian than this!
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without visiting the iconic Charles Bridge. I simply had to make it my stage for my tutu dance! It is, after all, said to be one of the most beautiful bridges in the world, and with the ancient architecture surrounding you… you can't help but feel the historical energy surrounding the place! And you know me - I can’t resist a photo opportunity – with a tutu on, of course. It looks like I stepped straight out of a balletic storybook. My Instagram followers just loved it. I think I got the best “like” count this week.
Prague is simply bursting with enchanting architecture - and my trusty little tutu has been exploring them all – from the awe-inspiring Prague Castle with its incredible history, to the magical Prague Old Town Square with its celestial clock - it’s like the city was made for tutus, honestly. The history and elegance really shine with the pink of my tutus – like magic. Speaking of magic….
The big reason for my trip to Prague was the ballet! Oh, what a treat this show was. A spectacular performance by the renowned Czech National Ballet, at the beautiful and grand Estates Theatre, which dates back to 1783 - wow, just imagine the history. They truly embodied the elegant spirit of Prague with their beautiful costumes. It made me want to twirl! I was totally enchanted – they took my breath away! They reminded me why I'm obsessed with the grace, precision and strength that ballet embodies. Every dancer on stage, with their leaps and twirls, just felt as though they were defying gravity! You just couldn't take your eyes off of them. And with every graceful move, they painted an unforgettable story with their movements – and the costumes, my dear! Oh, those glorious costumes! I even noticed an amazing pearl-studded ballet skirt similar to mine - a little touch of princess glamour on the stage. I just love the magical synergy that a gorgeous costume adds to a beautiful ballet performance - don't you agree?
After the show, a fellow ballet enthusiast - an adorable little ballerina with an enormous passion for pink – we chatted and chatted all night long about the magical ballet - a dream! She's here for an audition at a ballet school, and wants to dance on the stage someday. I shared some stories about my ballet career, gave her a few tips - it always fills me with such joy to give back and inspire the next generation.
I'm even trying to get her into the Pink Tutu club. It's my little mission to get everyone wearing pink tutus - just imagine, what a glorious sight! I’m working on a little “how to make a tutu” tutorial for the website - just imagine, pink tutu wearers around the world! It’s going to be a riot of colour, grace and elegance.
Oh! This weekend I’m treating myself to a trip into the picturesque countryside. I hear there are some beautiful, pink wild roses in bloom! I am simply obsessed with nature and her blooms! And naturally, no pink tutu outing is complete without a delightful horseback ride! I feel it in my bones! To experience this majestic landscape by pony is going to be simply dreamy! Stay tuned, because I’ll have a post about it next week! But be careful with your scroll, I'm told it is considered rude to snap pics while horseback riding….but a beautiful landscape deserves to be captured – what’s a ballerina to do?
The weekend also holds the promise of exploring the bohemian district, where a delicious world of antiques, galleries and vintage boutiques await! I love digging for those unique treasures that speak to my love for fashion and ballet. Just imagine – a little something for every pink tutu occasion! You know I love an elegant Parisian look for a Parisian style show - and you just can't beat those Parisian streets, can you?
Until next Wednesday, keep twirling and keep your head up! And as always, if you see a pink tutu, know it’s simply the most delightful, magical way to explore life! Just look around - you can even spot the perfect pink tutu in Prague – or even in your own city. Let’s all embrace the magic of ballet – and those magnificent tutus, every chance we get. Until next week!
