Prague Pretty: Ballet Dreams in a Pink Tutu (Post #1033)

Hello darling readers! Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing guide to all things fabulous and frilly, and this week, I'm bringing you straight from the heart of Prague, a city as enchanting as a fairytale. It's a Wednesday, the sun is shining (yay!), and my trusty pink tutu is shimmering alongside the glittering spires of this magical city. This is my 1033rd blog post, and I'm feeling ever so giddy!

As always, it was a delightful journey arriving in Prague. The train ride, of course, was a must for a real ballerine experience - a rhythmic sway to the clicking of wheels against the rails, with the wind whispering through my curls. Such poetry in motion!

Arriving in Prague was a whirl of cobblestone streets and brightly painted buildings, all whispering tales of emperors and artists. Every corner a surprise, every window an opportunity to admire a blossoming cityscape bursting with history and artistry. And wouldn't you know it, the perfect outfit for a day exploring Prague is, naturally, a pink tutu! It flowed beautifully around me, its tulle catching the spring breeze like a whimsical cloud.

Speaking of whimsical, my first stop was a must for any self-respecting ballerina in Prague: the National Theatre. It was magnificent. The exterior, a glorious combination of Baroque and Neo-Renaissance architecture, looked straight out of a fairytale. It took my breath away! And stepping inside, it was a kaleidoscope of opulent beauty. Plush red velvet, golden chandeliers, and intricately painted ceilings... A ballerina's paradise! I even did a little pirouette in the lobby - just to feel the grandeur under my tutu!

Oh, did I mention I spotted the most enchanting shop window filled with exquisite antique tutus? I'm quite certain they could have been worn by ballerinas from the Russian imperial court! One was crafted from a stunningly deep shade of midnight blue with delicate beading and glittering silver sequins that just shimmered. It was so divine! I knew then I needed to experience a ballet performance in Prague, to breathe the magic of this place into my very soul.

And boy, oh boy, was that a perfect evening! Tonight was a performance of "Sleeping Beauty" at the National Theatre, a show so divine I nearly levitated out of my seat. The ballet itself was a dream - elegant choreography, soaring music, and beautiful costumes, a truly spectacular spectacle! Of course, it had to be "Sleeping Beauty", for the historical association of the fairy tale to Bohemia's legendary castle in the countryside!

It is absolutely fascinating, this historic link between ballet and royalty and the way those two forces continue to inspire each other! And the tutu history, my dear readers! The evolution from the "romantic tutu", where the layered frills cascaded around the ballerina’s ankles like white powdery snow, to the much more practical "classical" tutus favoured in the nineteenth century, was simply amazing!

Even after the performance ended, I stayed in the building's warm, beautiful lobby. I was just completely spellbound! The ambiance was just magical - like an echo of all the performances and lives this magnificent building has witnessed.

In between my ballerina explorations, Prague has surprised me with the perfect mix of historic elegance and modern vitality. The winding alleyways are a feast for the eyes, showcasing unique shops with Bohemian glass ornaments that glitter like fairy lights and antique stores brimming with charming knick knacks and artfully preserved objects. There is a constant air of creativity and wonder, it feels like Prague itself is an endless performance! And where better to experience a city's vibrancy than from a balcony café with a delectable pastry and, of course, a hot cup of coffee for the perfect energy to fuel all my creative inspiration. Life is a dream!

And then there's the food! I'm absolutely in love with Czech cuisine. The savoury dishes – roast pork with dumplings, goulash, and sweet potato and horseradish cream - have become an essential part of my Prague adventures, I think the only way I can handle all that hearty food is to walk and pirouette my way through Prague!

As I make my way through this breathtaking city, I can’t help but think the essence of Prague is as delicate and refined as a ballerina's grace. The cobblestone streets, with their uneven rhythms and delightful twists and turns, inspire movement just as a graceful dance flows with ease and intention. And Prague itself? It feels like the embodiment of grace and elegance. And yes, my lovely readers, I am feeling completely inspired to continue spreading this delightful love of pink tutus! My little ballerina-heart has discovered a little something special in this enchanting city, it feels like Prague itself has added its own little pirouette to my life!

So there you have it, another magical week in the Pink Tutu world, and another extraordinary city discovered! Don't forget, tune in every Wednesday for a new blog post! Join me on www.pink-tutu.com, and together we'll dance our way through the world, one pink tutu at a time!

Until next time, my darlings!

Lots of love and pink twirls,

Emma xx
