Pink Tutu Prague: A whirl of waltzes and wiener schnitzels! (Blog Post #1040)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your very own Pink Tutu ballerina, back with another installment of my adventures in… drumroll… Prague! Oh my goodness, I just have to share the fabulous time I had this week, from tutus to traditional treats, it was truly magical.

A pink-tastic train journey to Prague:

It’s Wednesday and my www.pink-tutu.com blog post is always due! Let’s go back to last week though… I travelled from Derbyshire by train! Oh how I love those train journeys! So picturesque. You can't beat the rhythmic rattle of the wheels and the endless scenery. My little pink-tutu bag was overflowing with goodies, enough for a proper princess to go travelling: A selection of pretty ballet shoes, of course, my ballet tights (because every ballerina knows a girl's never properly dressed without tights, no matter the occasion), a fluffy pink tutu, a copy of my favourite ballerina autobiography "The Autobiography of Margot Fonteyn", and a rather large selection of my very favourite - chocolate!

After a delightful overnight train ride (no, I haven't told you about the ponies I rode - that’s a story for another day!), I was met by the most glorious sight… Prague! With its cobblestone streets and ornate buildings, this city oozes romance. I knew I was going to fall in love.

Shopping Spree - Fashion for a Ballerina

Before my main ballet events, I just had to dive into Prague's fashion scene. And boy oh boy, was I in for a treat! Every shop I wandered into had something so chic, so bohemian… just so… Prague. I scooped up a bewitching pair of ankle boots with delicate pink embroidery (perfect for twirling!) and a flowing lilac skirt (the colour was divine). The fabric was so soft, you could almost float in it, just like a ballerina! Of course, no trip would be complete without a new tutu – I found a dream in a dusty antique shop: a vintage powder pink one with layers upon layers of delicate tulle. My heart skipped a beat when I put it on; it felt like I was a fairy straight out of a storybook.

Ballet Extravaganza - a showstopper!

This Wednesday (the date you’re reading this!) was my starry event – the ballet performance! The Czech National Ballet - wow, what an incredible show! They took us on a whirlwind of stories and emotions, all woven through the beauty of movement. The costumes were incredible – each one an artistic masterpiece, from sleek lines to sparkling sequins, they felt like living works of art. The ballerinas were absolutely spellbinding! Their moves were so graceful, powerful, and effortless.

Ballet history in Prague:

As someone who lives and breathes ballet, I just had to explore some of Prague’s history, too! It turns out this beautiful city has such a rich connection to the art! The city has its own Opera House, known for its beautiful architecture. I also saw some charming old theatres – can you imagine the ballerinas performing here all those years ago? The history of this dance just resonates in these spaces.

From Tutu to Traditional

Between the shows and the fashion, it was time to truly embrace the city! The charm of Prague is a magical mix of history and vibrant life. I wandered through cobblestone streets lined with stunning buildings and took a boat ride along the Vltava River. Oh, the romance! Prague really feels like stepping into a fairytale. And the food… so delicious! Every cafe and bistro has amazing smells. It was my mission to find the perfect combination of classic Prague cuisine and the cutest pink cafes – a mission that was accomplished! I devoured a juicy Wiener Schnitzel and a delicate, strawberry-filled cake (pink of course!). A girl's gotta have her cake and eat it too!

Ballet Inspirations in Every Corner

Whether I’m exploring charming little squares, getting lost in a labyrinthine alley, or sipping a coffee with a croissant in hand, there’s a feeling of effortless artistry all around. I've even found street dancers! The energy of the city is full of creativity and expression. And yes, I even managed to teach some children the pink-tutu twist! Now they’re waltzing all over the place! My dream is to get every little ballerina out there twirling, dancing, and spreading happiness in a pink tutu - the ultimate expression of freedom and joy!

So here's to my magical trip to Prague – filled with pirouettes and pastries, enchanting performances, and so many pink tutu moments. My next ballet performance? Back in Derbyshire – a full circle journey of the beautiful ballerina world! You'll be reading about my adventures in my next post! Don’t forget to follow www.pink-tutu.com and check back next week for more fun!

Till then, dance like nobody’s watching! Emma xx
