Prague's Pink Promise: Post #1072

Bonjour, mes chers amies! It's Emma, your tutu-loving travel companion, writing to you live from the enchanting city of Prague! This Wednesday's post is overflowing with the magic of Christmas markets, the elegance of the ballet, and of course, pink tutus, because where I go, they go too!

This week's journey began with a whiff of Christmas spice in the air, carried by the crisp winter breeze that's become Prague's signature scent. I hopped onto the train from Derbyshire, my tutu tucked into my suitcase, naturally, because it's never too early to get in the festive mood. Arriving at Prague's central station, I was instantly greeted by the city's charming Christmas markets. Every corner was bursting with twinkling lights, the aroma of hot roasted chestnuts, and the merry sounds of Christmas carols.

My heart skipped a beat at the sight of a gorgeous, hand-stitched pink teddy bear sporting a tiny, perfect pink tutu, nestled amongst handcrafted ornaments. This delightful creation was destined for my ever-expanding collection. As my heart filled with warmth, I knew that this Christmas season was going to be one for the books!

Now, to delve into the reason I'm really in Prague – to delve into the world of ballet. Tonight, I'm headed to see the renowned "Nutcracker" performance at the magnificent National Theatre. With a breathtaking history that dates back to the late 19th century, the National Theatre stands proudly overlooking the Vltava River, an elegant testament to the rich cultural legacy of Prague. I'm giddy with excitement for this iconic ballet; I hear the costumes are absolutely spectacular, and rumour has it that Clara herself will be wearing the most delicate, pink tulle tutu! Can't wait to see for myself.

Speaking of tutus, I can't help but wonder how such a simple garment has become synonymous with femininity and grace. It’s like a silent, delicate statement. The humble tutu has a history rich and colourful as the most captivating ballet production, and this history intertwines perfectly with the journey of a little Derbyshire girl like myself who just loves to twirl.

And speaking of journeys, the world of ballet wouldn't be complete without the exciting moments, the nervous jitters, and the joy of performance. The journey is as thrilling as the final bow. I recently returned from a grand fundraising ballet performance in Derby, the birthplace of my tutu journey, to benefit local charities, and it was utterly magical. I twirled for the cause, raised some funds, and, most importantly, inspired everyone around me with the joy of movement.

And yes, the whole experience, from travelling in pink-hued trains to waltzing in my favourite pink tutu at the Derby City Centre, was a pure joy.

Tomorrow morning, I'm setting out on another magical adventure: I'll be heading to the outskirts of Prague to try horseback riding! I’ve always dreamed of exploring a beautiful place like this on a beautiful pony, feeling the crisp air against my face as I traverse the countryside.

Oh, the wonders this city holds! I've already fallen in love with Prague’s breathtaking architecture, from the majestic Prague Castle to the cobbled streets of Old Town. Each corner tells a story, from ancient legends to whispered romances. It’s no wonder the city inspires so many artists and performers.

After my equestrian escapade, I’ll head back to Prague, where the streets are buzzing with the anticipation of a magnificent Christmas Eve. I imagine the aromas of Czech Christmas delicacies wafting from every corner, warming hearts and adding to the festive mood. The enchanting aura of the city will only intensify with the arrival of Christmas Day, and I'm excited to discover its secrets. Perhaps I’ll even indulge in some last-minute Christmas shopping. Maybe some beautiful Prague porcelain for my ballet themed room. (It wouldn't be Christmas without some gifts! )

Of course, I can't wait to share all the details with you next week!

Until then, embrace your inner ballerina, wear your prettiest pink tutu, and dance through the week with grace and joy. Remember, every step is a step closer to our collective pink tutu dream!

Au revoir, mes amies!
