Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Romance, Ballet, andā¦ Ponies? (Blog Post #1084)
Wednesday 16th March 2016
Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your very own pink-tutu-clad, ballet-obsessed travel companion, bringing you all the sparkle and magic of Prague in this week's Pink Tutu Blog!
The train journey here was pure fairytale bliss. I had to share a compartment with a beautiful gentleman from Brno, who seemed to have mistaken me for royalty. Perhaps it was the delicate blush pink of my tutu that made him so chivalrous. He insisted on finding me a window seat and even offered me his newspaper ā which, of course, I declined gracefully. You see, I was too busy gazing at the stunning Czech countryside, feeling every bit the princess in my pink tulle paradise!
Arriving in Prague felt like stepping into a fairytale. Cobbled streets, enchanting bridges, and the imposing Prague Castle, all set against a backdrop of pale skies, promising a touch of whimsical romance. The perfect setting for a ballerina with a penchant for pink, I tell you!
But let's get to the main attraction! This week, Prague is abuzz with ballet!
A Dance Through History:The National Theatre: Oh, what a treat to be back at the iconic National Theatre! I must admit, the sheer elegance of this building makes even me feel just a little bit intimidated! Tonight, I'm going to be witnessing the beauty of a Giselle production by the National Ballet. Now, this isnāt just any Giselle, you understand, this is a truly special production. The National Balletās reputation for quality and historical authenticity precedes it. I just canāt wait to experience the delicate romanticism, the ghostly whispers of the Wilis, and the stunning choreography ā all bathed in a dreamy pink hue, of course. Cue the pink glitter and hearts!
More Than Just Ballet:It's not just the National Theatre that's got the dance bug, though. Prague is absolutely overflowing with ballet schools and academies. From tiny studios tucked away in cobbled alleyways to grand halls, the spirit of dance permeates the air. Even the horse-drawn carriages that clip-clop through the cobbled streets seem to sway to a silent ballet rhythm. Oh, did I mention I found a place to learn some tricks with a real pony? Yes, my lovelies, Iāll be sharing a peek into my first lesson with this magical creature, just for you, on Friday! (More on that later.)
Shopping Splendour and Fashion Delights:What trip to Prague would be complete without indulging in a little fashion therapy, am I right? The Old Town Square, lined with boutique shops and quirky markets, was practically begging to be explored. Iāve found myself a pair of truly exquisite ballet flats (perfectly blush pink, naturally), a breathtaking vintage coat with floral motifs, and a vintage music box with the most enchanting ballet melody - which is going to have pride of place on my dressing table back in Derbyshire. The vintage boutiques here have the most unique finds, and I have a feeling my suitcase is going to be overflowing!
Prague by Night:No pink tutu pilgrimage is complete without enjoying a romantic evening under the stars. So, after a sumptuous dinner of sviÄkovĆ” na smetanÄ, the most divine creamy Czech beef, Iām off to the Charles Bridge. I imagine Iāll be gazing at the cityscape bathed in moonlight and enjoying a chilled glass of the local Moravian wine - while contemplating, of course, the exquisite beauty of the architecture and how its elegance mirrors the beauty of a classical ballet!
And of course, a touch of ballet historyā¦:Did you know that Prague has a surprisingly rich ballet history? Its first ballet school opened way back in 1724, with its first grand ballet theatre following soon after. Since then, ballet in Prague has gone from strength to strength, becoming a cultural treasure. In fact, if you go exploring you can find stunning, historic theatres, beautiful dance studios, and fascinating museums showcasing the cityās impressive ballet legacy. And of course, Prague is also a major centre for international ballet, hosting several festivals throughout the year. (Oh, you just have to come see the costumes they create! Each piece is like a story spun in tulle and glitter!)
Until next Wednesdayā¦:So, my dears, that's all for now! I've only just touched on the magical things that await you in this enchanting city. Stay tuned for next weekās blog as I continue my Prague adventures and maybe even give you a peek at my tutu-worthy pony trick-learning! And donāt forget to visit the www.pink-tutu.com website, where you can see the stunning pictures I'll be adding to this weekās blog. Don't forget to grab your own pink tutu, let's spread some ballet-tastic love together!
Until next time, keep dancing!
With love and sparkle, Emma xxx
