Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Dreams in the City of a Hundred Spires – Post 1092
Bonjour mes amies! It's Wednesday again, which means a new post from your favourite pink-tutu clad travel blogger. Today I’m back from a magical jaunt to Prague, a city that literally stole my heart – and it wasn’t just the delicious pastries, I promise! 😉
Riding into Prague
The journey started in Derbyshire, England, a quaint, rolling green countryside setting very much like a scene from a Jane Austen novel. I don't mind saying that leaving the countryside was bittersweet; you never know when the last time you’ll be enjoying a pony ride to the local market. In Prague, the journey into the city was a different affair, arriving on the magical, efficient, and wonderfully fast, Czech Railway, straight into the heart of the action. I was greeted by charmingly crooked cobblestones and that beautiful old-world charm only Prague can offer.
Pink Tutu Perfection in Prague
Once settled into my little haven - a boutique hotel overflowing with old world charm (and complete with a delicious pastry chef! – I just couldn’t resist indulging!), I went straight into town, of course, decked out in my pinkest tutu, my new pink velvet hat, and a matching pink, beaded handbag, all from my favourite boutique in Derby. It felt utterly perfect and totally chic as I explored Prague’s breathtaking Old Town Square with its magnificent Astronomical Clock.
This week, as you know, I'm going for that romantic, French fairytale style look – think flowing silk, a touch of sparkle, and the very pinkest shade I can get my hands on. I believe pink looks especially good in the gentle twilight light, so my outfit was a riot of delicate pink, with a smattering of lace and sequins, a real 'Pink Tutu Prague' look, and yes, I was feeling extra confident – you should see how the Czech men appreciate a lady in pink, it's simply delightful! 😉
Ballet in the City of a Hundred Spires
But enough about my outfit – what about the real star of this trip: the ballet! As you know, a girl can't visit Prague without taking in a world-class ballet performance. The Czech National Theatre, with its breathtaking neo-Renaissance grandeur, is a feast for the senses. Tonight, I was treated to a magical performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake (this month they are showcasing Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote – wow!) and my eyes nearly popped out of my head with the sheer artistry on display.
The sheer talent of the dancers was mesmerizing. Every step, every pose, told a story – it was simply beautiful! Of course, no trip to the ballet is complete without a delicious champagne at intermission, which, after such an extraordinary show, I thoroughly deserved. 🥂
Beyond the Stage: Ballet Inspiration
After the performance, I indulged my passion for all things ballet by browsing through the National Theatre’s elegant gift shop, where I snagged the most darling collection of miniature ballerinas. Of course, my favourite was the tiny pink one!
Then, as the sun dipped low, painting the Prague skyline with an exquisite palette of colours, I popped into a lovely old café (another one of my hidden gems!). Sipping on a cappuccino, I delved into the history of Prague’s ballet heritage. It’s such a rich history, spanning centuries, from its beginnings at the court of Rudolph II in the 16th century to the current vibrant, modern scene.
Prague Delights: Shops and Treats
Oh, how I adore the shop window displays of Prague! I could lose myself for hours browsing the many boutiques tucked away on narrow streets – finding exquisite little pink tutu treasures was such a delight. My favourite spot for vintage chic? The little store on Nerudova, where I found the perfect rose gold scarf to tie around my hair for tomorrow’s performance at the magical ‘Švandovo Divadlo’. This intimate little theatre is set in the heart of Smíchov – an old district brimming with character.
Let’s talk food! One of the highlights of Prague for me was the pastry scene, particularly the endless selection of delicate macarons in all colours. It took all my self-control not to eat them all, although I did manage to leave room for the amazing Prague ham. Speaking of indulgence, did I tell you about the delicious Prague coffee I had in the ‘Cafè Savoy’, surrounded by the beautiful architecture and decor – a real slice of historical elegance.
Pink Tutu Prague – Back to England
It's back to the UK for me this weekend. A lovely pony ride home through the Derby countryside awaits. As always, I’m back in England buzzing from this trip to Prague, a city so full of charm, culture and, yes, exquisite beauty. You know it's special when a city inspires not just a new pink tutu, but a whole collection! 😉
Next Wednesday I’ll be back on this here website – with the first post from my newest collection… just wait till you see! Until then, live your best life, wear pink, and I’ll see you next Wednesday.
Bisous!
Emma 💕
