Pink Tutu Prague: Post 1098 – A Dance Through History and a Wardrobe Wonderland! 🩰✨

Hello darlings!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! Time for a brand new Pink Tutu Prague blog post! 💖 This week, I'm buzzing after a whirlwind few days in this magical city. Prague has truly stolen my heart!

First things first: let me tell you about this week's performances! It was a real treat, seeing two wildly different ballet pieces in a row. Tuesday was all about The Sleeping Beauty – the timeless classic. Oh, the grace! Oh, the drama! You just can't beat those enchanting tutus and the majestic choreography. I was practically transported to a fairy tale, even when the dragon appeared! 😂

Wednesday was a bit more contemporary, with a street dance performance at a local festival. I was completely captivated by the energetic rhythms and bold movements, and I loved the way they incorporated their surroundings into the performance – even the local pigeons got in on the act! It's truly amazing how much you can tell about a culture through its dance!

Of course, I couldn't leave Prague without indulging in a bit of retail therapy! Oh, my goodness, you wouldn't believe the array of fashion I discovered in the city's boutiques and vintage shops. From perfectly chic dresses to dazzling jewels, the streets of Prague are practically begging to be explored! You wouldn't believe the vintage tutu I managed to snag at a cute little shop tucked away in a side street! It's so beautiful – blush pink tulle, a scattering of sparkly sequins, and the most perfect ruffled skirt – it's a true collector's piece!

As I always do on a Wednesday, let's chat a little ballet history! This week, I was learning about the fascinating origins of the tutu. You see, the ballerina's costume didn't always look like the ethereal, wispy creations we adore today. It started with floor-length skirts, more like an extravagant gown. As time progressed, and ballets embraced leaps and turns, the skirts got shorter, and the tutus began their transformation into the symbols of grace and beauty we know and love. How I adore those historical costumes! Imagine all the stories they could tell if only they could talk!

Before we move onto some more Prague-related goodies, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who's been joining me on my Prague journey! This little adventure wouldn't be possible without all your support. 💖 I always feel so inspired by your kind words, your shared love of dance and fashion, and, of course, your love for all things pink tutu!

But wait, there's more!

I am delighted to be offering a little something special to my amazing readers! Every month, I select a handful of fabulous tutus from my collection for an exclusive giveaway, and you guessed it – June's lucky recipient will be the winner of a limited-edition blush pink tutu. Just send me a message via my website and tell me what you love about Prague! It’s the easiest competition EVER! ✨

Right, let's get back to Prague.

The most charming thing about Prague? The transport. Not only is it incredibly affordable, but it's so beautiful too. For the city's trams and buses, I always go for a little hop-on, hop-off adventure! And I even tried the Metro. Did you know? It’s absolutely the most stunning Metro system ever. You could practically use it for a photo shoot! And for a more fairytale-esque journey, I recently discovered that it’s possible to ride on the top of a pony through Prague – if you’re brave enough!

Did you know, that I'm a HUGE fan of historical architecture, so I can't get enough of Prague's fairytale castles and gothic churches. I've spent the last couple of days exploring hidden cobbled alleys, admiring the intricate carvings on the city's famous bridges, and soaking in the history all around me. Did you know there’s a fairytale-looking clock on the top of one of the towers of the Prague Old Town Square! It's an awe-inspiring place that you truly have to see for yourself. Don't forget to check out the amazing view from the Prague Castle; it's worth the climb!

Speaking of breathtaking sights, have you seen the Charles Bridge yet? It’s another stunning example of Prague’s architecture, it has been inspiring me since the minute I got here. There are loads of local artists and artisans setting up shop with their paintings, pottery, jewellery, and little statues. The bridge is packed full of stunning scenery with views of the river Vltava. You have to wander across it a few times! It really is a feast for the eyes. It was really quite beautiful at sunset with the city lights reflecting in the water!

One of the best ways to experience the true essence of Prague is by simply letting yourself get lost in its charm. Wander through its picturesque streets, take in the enchanting music wafting from open-air cafes, and perhaps even stop for a cup of coffee and a slice of apple strudel in one of its quaint cafes! There are hidden treasures around every corner – I have a sneaking suspicion you could spend an entire lifetime exploring Prague!

And lastly, if you are heading to Prague, my must-try restaurant is The Old Bohemian Tavern, with it's beautiful old-timey interior – you could spend hours looking around at the trinkets and furnishings.

Oh, and I nearly forgot to tell you about all the adorable little boutiques, in every part of the city, it's such a delightful treasure hunt.

It truly is a city with something for everyone – whether it's history, culture, art, fashion, or delicious cuisine. If you haven't been to Prague, darling, add it to your list!

I know I'll be back soon for more exploring, more ballet performances, more shopping, and more memories to add to my Pink Tutu Prague story!

In the meantime, make sure to spread the love of tutus and wear your pink one loud and proud!

Until next time, Emma. x
