Prague's Pretty Pastel Palaces: Post #1120 - Pink Tutu Adventures!

Wednesday 23rd November 2016

Hello lovelies! This week I’ve gone totally bonkers for Prague – it’s got it all! From fabulous ballet performances (naturally!) to beautiful, cobbled streets and a veritable smorgasbord of exquisite pastries, this city truly is the icing on the cake of my pink tutu travel dreams.

I hopped on the train (a thrilling journey of 12 hours, punctuated by adorable mini-tutus from my secret stash in my tote bag!) and was whisked off to this incredible, historical city – Prague has seriously been tickling my tutu for years! The first thing that greeted me was an ethereal ballet of architecture – those famous pastel-hued towers reaching for the sky.

Now, this trip is extra special for me, because it marks my 100th blog post (woo hoo!) I had to celebrate, and there’s no better way than to get my pointe shoes pointed firmly in the direction of my favourite, the beautiful, captivating National Theatre of Prague!

Dancing with History at The National Theatre

Today was all about the Czech Ballet’s magical rendition of “La Bayadère”. From the first swirling notes, it was an enchanting masterpiece, filled with emotion and such exquisite artistry. The whole story was so captivating – those passionate dances and elaborate sets made me feel like I'd been transported to a dazzling royal palace! There was this one solo… well, it made my tutu twirl in admiration – the way they used the pointe shoes to express sorrow was pure magic! It just reminded me of why I adore ballet so much!

Afterwards, the real treat for my pink tutu heart was getting to chat with some of the dancers in their backstage lair. What lovely, kind, spirited souls – they were a pure joy to meet, and they totally understand my need to live in pink tutus 24/7 (they may even have a tiny pink tutu in their dressing room)!

Shopping Spree in the Shadow of St. Vitus Cathedral

After my ballet-filled morning, it was time to shop! I mean, what trip to Prague is complete without a wander through the Old Town Square? The cobbled streets are like stepping straight into a fairy tale! And the smell of sweet pastries and local treats… simply irresistible!

I stumbled across this quaint little shop tucked away in a corner… It was crammed with antique treasures – a real treasure trove for tutu-loving girls like myself. I found this exquisite vintage beaded belt – perfect for my new tutu collection! And guess what? It came in a soft pink, of course. I couldn't resist snapping it up for my upcoming "A Midsummer Night's Dream" ballet production back in Derbyshire – can you believe it’s just around the corner?!

Pink Tutu Adventures in the Bohemian Quarter

In the afternoon, it was time for an exploration of Prague's Bohemian Quarter. You'd think I'd find more pink tutus there – maybe even a shop selling 'The Bohemian Tutu' or ‘Prague Pretty Pink Tutu’ – but sadly, it was not to be! Although I did find a darling cafe called 'The Tea Rose' with a stunning rose-themed tutu. The waiter was very impressed when I mentioned the "Pink Tutu Adventures" blog! He even recommended an artisan bakery, where he said I could find a pastry that "will make you swoon and twirl, and possibly burst into a joyous pink-tutu filled pirouette" … I just knew I had to check it out!

I've already devoured a raspberry-filled éclair the size of my head… divine!

Planning the Perfect Tutu Performance for My Followers

This trip is all about getting inspiration for new blog content – especially when it comes to pairing those delicate tutus with the chicest, most Prague-esque outfits. Imagine – pink tutu and a stunning floral crown against the backdrop of Prague's magnificent Charles Bridge – my readers will go crazy for it!

I also want to use some of the incredible views, like those beautiful panoramic shots from Prague Castle. My goal is to capture some stunning photos and have my blog readers living vicariously through my fabulous, twirling, tutu adventures.

I’m really enjoying putting together ideas for a future post about the history of ballet, especially the significance of the tutu's journey throughout time – from its origins to its influence on modern dance!

And you know me, I wouldn't be me without a splash of my favourite pink! Prague's history is brimming with delicate hues and pastel palettes that make it an absolute dream for a Pink Tutu Adventures photoshoot. Just you wait for those vibrant pictures coming soon…

The Night is Young - A Stroll Around Old Town Square

As the evening descends and the stars start twinkling, I’m going for a stroll around Old Town Square – I have a hot chocolate and a Viennese waffle waiting! The smell of chimney cakes in the crisp autumn air is already drawing me in… Prague, you're so charming!

You might see me do a little spontaneous, moonlight-inspired twirling - just to embrace that fabulous energy of the city! I’m already thinking of all the new tutu styles I’m going to incorporate in my performances. The possibilities are endless!

Speaking of my next performance, my heart is already filled with a million twirling ideas, all inspired by this fabulous trip! Just wait until you see my rendition of "Prague's Princess Tutu"!

Stay tuned lovelies, there's much more pink-tutu filled adventure coming from the city of Prague!

See you soon! Emma www.pink-tutu.com
