Prague: A Tutu-tastic Tale, Post 1122!

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for a fresh dose of Pink Tutu Prague, my weekly peek into the whimsical, fabulous world of pink tutus and ballet, this time from the cobbled streets of Prague!

Pink Perfection Arrives in Prague

As you know, my travels are always fueled by my love for the art of dance, and what better way to explore this beautiful city than by following the steps of those graceful, talented ballerinas? The train journey itself was an absolute delight. I, of course, couldn't resist packing a magnificent pink tulle number that matched the soft pink hues of the sunrise - nothing like a touch of girly magic to get your day going! The scenery was truly enchanting, whizzing past the quaint Derbyshire villages and onto the rolling hills and valleys.

Reaching Prague was like stepping into a storybook, complete with medieval architecture and romantic charm. And trust me, Prague has definitely stolen my heart - its beauty is as breathtaking as a Bolshoi opening night.

Prague: Ballet Dreams & Bohemian Rhapsody

I knew Prague was my kind of place when I saw the beautiful National Theatre. With its soaring facade and stunning design, it oozed historical grandeur. A quick trip to the National Theatre's website confirmed what my ballet-loving heart already knew - the very next day there was a spectacular performance of ‘Giselle’ by the National Theatre Ballet! The chance to experience such an iconic ballet in such a grand setting was too good to pass up!

Dress Code: Pink Tutu of course!

Naturally, no ballerina, no matter where she travels, goes anywhere without her trusty tutu. This particular gem was a delicate confection of spun sugar pink tulle, with a generous amount of sparkle woven into its fabric. As the sunlight glinted off its layers, it felt like I was wearing a miniature rainbow - perfect for a city as colourful as Prague.

And speaking of colour, let me tell you about the costumes! The ballet itself was a stunning masterpiece, showcasing the brilliance of classic choreography and artistry, but what truly stole my breath was the breathtaking costume design. They were the very definition of ‘opulence’ - I just about melted when the Act Two corps de ballet twirled in their shimmering white tulle skirts!

More Than Ballet: Exploring the Beauty of Prague

Prague is much more than just stunning architecture and historical landmarks; it's also a city with a vibrant artistic soul. In the afternoon, I ventured into the city's centre and wandered past charming boutiques overflowing with bohemian fashion. I, of course, indulged in some window shopping – I’ve been searching for a vintage tutu to add to my collection, and Prague certainly delivered on that front.

Of course, no trip to Prague is complete without trying their famous trdelník – it’s a type of pastry that is traditionally roasted over an open fire! I went for a pistachio and vanilla flavour, a delicious treat perfect for an afternoon exploring the cobbled streets of Old Town Square.

Post-Show Drinks with the Local Ballerinas

To complete a perfect night, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a post-performance drink with fellow ballet enthusiasts. The National Theatre Bar offered the ideal setting, buzzing with chatter and laughter. It's amazing how easily we ballet lovers connect across languages and cultures - a shared passion for dance transcends every boundary. We even debated the most beautiful pas de deux, though, of course, I believe there is something truly captivating about the exquisite elegance of ‘Giselle’!

A Pink Tutu Day Out!

Today, my blog followers, was a real treat! I was invited to the ballet school here in Prague to observe their morning class. I arrived in the most spectacular pink and silver tutu (a bit of added sparkle is always appropriate!) and was amazed by their talent. They moved with such grace and artistry, their bodies swirling and leaping with a pure joy that was truly inspiring!

As I watched, I realised how important it is for children to have opportunities to explore their creativity, to dance with abandon and to let their bodies sing! That's something we can all learn from - to find that little bit of magic inside us and embrace the world with that same joyous abandon. And, you know what? My next blog will be about the cutest little girls' dance class in the entire world!

Looking Ahead: Prague's Sparkling Promises

Now, before I get carried away with plans and dreams for the next week (it’s going to be an exciting one!), I have one more important announcement to make. My beautiful pink tutu, the one I’m wearing now, is being donated to the National Theatre. You see, every performance is not just about the steps we dance, it’s about the joy we bring. That is the true gift we offer each other - and to Prague.

Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com for all the updates, pictures, and behind-the-scenes snippets! I’ll be back next week, same time, same place - ready for a new adventure. Until then, darling, keep those pink tutus twirling and live your life with a little extra sparkle!

Yours in tulle,

Emma
