Prague, Pink Tutu & Perfect Timing! (Post #1123)
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means a brand-spanking new post on www.pink-tutu.com. This week I'm waltzing into your lives from the beautiful, historic city of Prague! As I write, the sunshine is cascading through my hotel window, illuminating my latest sartorial triumph - a gloriously pink tutu (naturally!), accessorised with a cute little matching handbag. It's a delightful ensemble, wouldn't you agree?
Speaking of delights, Prague has been a total dream so far! The cobbled streets, the enchanting architecture, the charming cafés – it’s all so utterly romantic. It's the perfect setting for my ultimate indulgence – ballet, of course! I'm here for the stunning ‘The Nutcracker’ at the National Theatre tonight! It's not just any ballet, oh no, this one's a special, unique interpretation. I've been following it for months, waiting to see it performed by some of Europe’s finest dancers.
I even squeezed in a quick ballet class this morning at Dance Prague. I always find it's a wonderful way to ground myself before a show and get the creative juices flowing. You've probably noticed by now that I love everything about ballet! Not only do I love watching it and performing it, I’m obsessed with its history and traditions. Tutus, naturally, have a special place in my heart - can you imagine ballet without them? It’s simply unthinkable! They're the perfect embodiment of the ballerina's grace, movement, and of course, utter beauty.
The National Theatre in Prague, by the way, is a real gem. I could easily spend hours just wandering around its incredible halls and admiring the grand decor. It's fascinating to think that the theatre was originally constructed on the banks of the Vltava River and was, by all accounts, almost swept away by the floods of 1890! Thankfully, this historic structure was saved thanks to the quick thinking of many individuals and remains an important part of Prague's cultural landscape. I find it endlessly fascinating how history, art, and even architecture intertwine in these incredible spaces. I do believe it adds an extra layer of magic to the performances!
Tutu Travels and The Big Picture
I've been indulging in some truly delightful shopping experiences around Prague too! There's a lovely vintage boutique just around the corner from my hotel called Pink & Buttercup - how serendipitous, I thought! It's crammed with pre-loved treasures, with lots of vintage pink, and some beautifully restored tutus – what’s a girl to do? I confess I’ve probably spent a bit too much! But who can resist a vintage pink satin tutu from the 1950s? It was simply calling out to me!
For those of you new to my world, I make my living dancing! I travel around the UK, Europe, and beyond, performing my heart out in ballet shows and sharing my passion with others. It's an incredible life! This past year, I've been fortunate to perform for so many different audiences. In the past few months, I even took on a charming role in an amateur performance of the ‘Giselle’ in my home town of Derbyshire. I actually wore a gorgeous hand-stitched pink tutu, one I found while vintage shopping with my Nana. Talk about serendipity! It was just my style.
Now, while travelling is amazing and the stage is my home, I really do believe in something much bigger! I want to help spread the pink tutu love, you know? I believe we can create a global movement - everyone in a pink tutu, imagine that! It’s just so much fun and I really believe in the power of joy and beauty. After all, isn’t life much brighter when you’re wearing pink? You have to agree it makes everything just that bit more spectacular.
So what am I going to wear to the show tonight? A fluffy pink tutu with silver sequined embroidery? Perhaps my signature red tulle with a dramatic train? You’ll have to stay tuned for tomorrow's post to find out! Until then, take care of yourselves, dance a little, and spread that pink tutu love!
See you soon! Emma
