Prague, My Love! Post #1136
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm so excited to be writing this week's post from the utterly enchanting city of Prague!
Oh, my love affair with this city started the moment I stepped off the train from Vienna. The cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, and the air of history just swept me off my feet! Of course, I was resplendent in my pale pink tulle tutu with the perfect little floral print, paired with a blush cashmere sweater, and a matching, handmade pink faux-fur pompom hat. Prague's charm just seems to radiate off the buildings - imagine a fairytale coming to life, with stunning castles and ornate bridges. It's like stepping into a classic ballet scene, and you can bet I've been whirling and twirling my way around these breathtaking streets!
Now, you know I just can't resist a trip to a local ballet shop! It was a pure joy finding the hidden gem that is Atelier Růžová. Oh my goodness, their collection of tutus is to die for! I was especially smitten with their gorgeous antique tutu - think soft, floral, and unbelievably elegant. You'd be forgiven for mistaking it for something out of "Swan Lake". My darling, you've got to visit if you're ever in Prague!
The Story Behind Prague's Ballet History:
Prague's ballet heritage is as rich and storied as its architecture! They even have the very oldest known surviving ballet manuscript, dating back to the year 1500! Their ballet tradition truly blossomed in the 19th century with the rise of the National Theatre. And let's not forget, dear readers, the legendary Czech ballet master Václav Nižinski.
Oh, I did the most exciting thing today! I took a riding lesson! Now, I may love twirling, but my love for horses knows no bounds. The stable was just outside of Prague, nestled in the rolling countryside. My trusty steed was called 'Sugar', and she was the sweetest little creature - just like a pony in a ballet performance!
But the pièce de résistance was tonight! My evening began with the most divine ballet class at the Tančírna - imagine an ethereal studio with stunning chandeliers. As a ballerina, I am always looking for that perfect way to compliment a pink tutu. Oh, they did sell some delightful ballet gear - but alas, the pink ballet shoes I fell in love with weren't quite my size. Maybe next time!
Finally, the show I had been eagerly awaiting - a magnificent performance of "Giselle" at the National Theatre. The costumes were dazzling, the music exquisite, and the dancing truly divine! Every twirl and leap sent a shiver down my spine.
Finding a bit of magic:
Now, you must visit this incredible city! There are hidden treasures to be found around every corner. It’s not just about the ballet, darlings! Take time to meander through the charming streets, marvel at the golden-spired churches, and savor delicious Czech cuisine. Every street feels like it holds a new story, waiting to unfold! Don't forget to check out Prague's fashion scene - I found some of the most darling accessories, and I am utterly smitten with their artisanal boutiques.
Now, I'm off to find a truly exquisite pink tulle tutu to match this gorgeous city. Don't forget, darlings, to live life to the fullest!
Stay twirling!
Emma xoxo
