Pink Tutu Prague: Post #1139 - Ballet, Boutiques and Bohemia

Hello my lovelies!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Prague post! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement to tell you all about my fabulous adventures in this magical city. It's my fourth trip here, and I can't get enough.

This week, the stars aligned perfectly - I had a show on Friday at the lovely Theatre Dejazzerie, then a quick dash to the station to catch the night train. It’s the most enchanting journey – watching the world glide by outside your window, the air thick with excitement, and knowing you’re heading for somewhere amazing. And let’s be honest, my outfit was practically begging for attention; a vibrant coral silk tutu with a bejewelled bodice - perfect for train travel!

Prague has always held a special place in my heart. It’s such a charming city; full of history, culture, and of course, fabulous fashion. But this week has been particularly exciting - I just couldn't wait to experience all the wonderful things this city has to offer - from its fairytale architecture to its incredible boutiques.

A Bohemian Rhapsody of Pink:

On Monday, after unpacking and settling into my adorable little pink-walled apartment near Old Town Square, I headed straight for a shopping spree at the Parizska street boutiques. You simply can't go to Prague without exploring the designer shops here! I picked up a stunning blush silk top - it will be the perfect partner for my lilac tulle tutu - think “modern-day Marie Antoinette” and you've got the image. It’s a very pink tutu life for me, and let’s face it, why not?!

The Power of Ballet:

Tuesday morning, I treated myself to an incredible ballet class with the Ballet Prague Academy. I am always learning - not just technically, but mentally and spiritually too. These lessons really ground me, and let me face it - ballet is my lifeblood, my creative engine. This studio felt like an artistic haven, full of the most talented dancers. Afterwards, I popped into one of the local cafes for some Czech coffee and a warm apple strudel. You know I have to maintain that tutu-shaped physique!

A Night at the Theatre:

As if I needed another excuse for a tutu outfit! That evening I had the honour of dancing with my amazing ensemble at Theatre Dejazzerie, in Prague's Old Town. We performed “The Nutcracker”, and I was truly delighted to be cast as the Sugar Plum Fairy - a role I had been dreaming of dancing for months! The applause from the audience was incredible! It's always such a humbling and joyful experience to share my passion for ballet with others. I really felt connected to those people in the audience, as if we were all part of a magical world together.

Discovering the Charm of Prague's History

My Wednesday morning began with a stroll through Old Town Square, marveling at the intricate details of the astronomical clock and the colorful, vibrant buildings. I always get so lost in the history and beauty of this place - every corner seems to whisper stories of emperors and empresses.

Of course, I had to sample a few local treats along the way - you simply cannot visit Prague without a Czech pastry or two. It’s the perfect mix of indulgence and a cultural experience!

Later in the day, I booked a fascinating tour of Prague Castle. Its vast size is staggering - the architecture is phenomenal and the historical significance incredible. You feel as though you’ve stepped back in time - you can almost hear the clatter of swords and the murmur of royal court whispers.

And let's talk about the outfits! Imagine me, a pink tulle tutu whirling among the cobbled courtyards of the castle. The contrasting colours of the gothic architecture were beautiful! My ballet shoes clicked on the stone floors, a rhythmic counterpoint to the hushed awe of the onlookers.

A Ballet Lover’s Dream

My stay wouldn't be complete without a visit to the National Theatre, which happens to be a gorgeous Art Nouveau building and one of the city’s cultural gems. As the sun dipped behind the rooftops, painting the sky with vibrant shades of pink and orange (how ironic, right?), I made my way to the theatre for the ballet performance.

There is something utterly captivating about the fusion of dance, music, and the history of the theatre itself. Tonight’s ballet was Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake”, which brought out the romantic in me. I had tears in my eyes - ballet truly has the power to move the soul.

After the performance, I found myself wandering through the picturesque streets, lost in a world of dreams and pink tutus. The city pulsed with the energy of late-night musicians, twinkling fairy lights, and laughter from local families, which made it hard to resist a slice of traditional trdelnik!

Tutus and Travel - Always on Point:

It is this very spirit of joyful wanderlust that inspires me, and hopefully, motivates you too! It’s the idea that anything is possible if you follow your passion, whatever form that takes.

That, my lovelies, is the power of pink tutus. And remember: when you're wearing one, the world is your stage, ready for your performance.

Now, until next Wednesday, let’s embrace the magical journey of ballet, and find a touch of whimsy wherever we go!

See you next week!

Love, Emma x
