Pink Tutu Prague: Post 1147 – A Ballet-Filled Bohemian Adventure!
Wednesday, May 31st, 2017
Bonjour mes amies! Well, here I am, in the glorious city of Prague, the very heart of Bohemia! As a self-confessed history buff, I am practically swooning over the stunning architecture, cobbled streets and fairy-tale-esque squares, each brimming with centuries of fascinating history. But let’s face it, the most beautiful things in life are timeless, like tutus, right?
So, how did I, Emma, the Pink Tutu Girl, end up in this magical metropolis? Well, it's all thanks to my unwavering passion for ballet and my love of adventure, of course! As a ballerina with a flair for the theatrical and a wanderlust that’s practically insatiable, my dream is to spread the joy and elegance of the art of dance around the globe. My latest venture – Prague!
As you all know, my pink tutu is a constant companion on my travels – it’s more than just a piece of clothing, it's my signature style, my badge of honour and my personal expression of the grace and artistry of ballet. This city is the perfect setting for my pink tulle and me. Imagine the sheer delight of walking through these picturesque streets in my dazzling tutu – turning heads, eliciting smiles and spreading joy! (Yes, the stares do come with the territory! But who doesn’t love a bit of attention?)
Now, I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t share a few outfit snaps! Today’s look, perfect for navigating the cobbled lanes of Prague, is all about delicate femininity and effortless Parisian chic. It’s a lovely light pink tutu, with a dreamy swathe of chiffon – ideal for twirling! I’ve paired it with a crisp white blouse, my favourite embroidered navy blue blazer, a splash of delicate pearl jewellery and, of course, my trusty ballerina flats – always pink, always comfy. Just a sprinkle of pink blush to complement my pink tutu and voila! I am ready to explore this beautiful city with a joyful heart and twirling in every direction!
Ballet, Beautiful Prague & A Fabulous Feast!
Today’s itinerary is chock-a-block with beautiful ballet-themed treats, just the way I like it. The day began at the Národní Divadlo (National Theatre) – a stunning building nestled on the banks of the Vltava river. It’s absolutely beautiful, like something straight out of a storybook. This theatre boasts a rich history, with breathtakingly opulent interiors and the most ornate designs. I spent hours just admiring the craftsmanship!
The programme was even more fabulous! I'm seeing the iconic "Giselle", a story of tragic love and supernatural forces, presented with such dramatic depth and powerful choreography. The artistry of the dancers is simply sublime - every graceful leap, every delicate gesture, told a story so deeply moving that I was completely swept away by it. I may have shed a tear or two, but it's always a pleasure to lose myself in the powerful emotions that ballet so beautifully captures!
Speaking of powerful emotions, I need to tell you about the utterly divine traditional Czech meal I had later on. I'm such a sucker for all things hearty, wholesome and traditional, and my little journey to this city wouldn't be complete without a truly Czech experience. I decided to indulge in a steaming bowl of bramborový polévka – a classic potato soup - that tasted utterly magical. It was the perfect way to warm my tummy and soul after a long, fulfilling afternoon of ballet.
And now, a little treat for all of you lovelies! Here’s a juicy secret: Prague is truly a haven for ballet fans. Everywhere I go, I discover ballet-themed treats. Even on a sunny Wednesday morning, I was happily surprised by the chance to watch a group of talented dancers from the local Dance Theatre Prague school, performing beautifully choreographed excerpts of various famous ballets. It was such a delight to be surrounded by a passion for ballet, shared with local communities right on the streets of this beautiful city! I couldn't help but snap a few pictures – this city really has got my pink tutu whirling in joy!
Tomorrow: Exploring, Shopping & a Fashion Fiesta
Today has been an absolutely unforgettable whirlwind of art and cultural immersion, but tomorrow is a day for more exciting discoveries! First on the agenda: I am going to explore the famous Charles Bridge - they say it's the heart of Prague! And as a bonus, I'm meeting up with the fabulously stylish fashion blogger, Millie from Prague Fashion Diaries. We’ve been following each other online and now we’re about to make a beautiful friendship come to life, all thanks to our shared love of style and fashion!
Imagine two girls, pink tutus and all, strolling around a captivating city, enjoying delicious Czech food, exploring amazing shops and taking a few cheeky pictures… ah, my pink heart is just singing!*
And then, just as a delicious treat to end a perfect day, there’s an elegant dance performance happening on a riverside stage. I've heard there’s going to be a ballet-inspired dance performance by a very exciting group. Could it be my favourite modern ballet collective, ‘Flow and Grace’? (fingers crossed!). I can't wait to find out.
As always, stay tuned, you beautiful souls. I will keep you posted with more updates and photos from this breathtakingly romantic city.
Love, twirls, and endless pink tutu magic!
