Prague, Pink Tutus & Perfect Ponies - Blog Post #1146
Hello, my darling dears! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a fresh blog post from your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, straight from the heart of Prague! I've just finished a whirlwind trip through this gorgeous city and I'm bursting to share my adventures.
So, pull up a chair (or, even better, your favourite ballet barre), grab a cup of something delightful and let me whisk you away to the fairytale land of cobbled streets, breathtaking architecture, and… oh yes… Pink tutus! After all, I wouldn’t be Emma if pink tutus weren’t at the heart of this blog. And in case you were wondering (because you do!) this week’s tutu-tastic outing involves the fabulous National Theatre. Let's just say, it was the perfect culmination of everything I love…ballet, shopping, ponies… oh, and a smidgen of history.
Prague, A Ballerina's Dream
I've been dreaming of coming to Prague for ages. All those grand buildings, that enchanting, history-drenched air - it felt like a dream right from the start! But my excitement was bubbling over, especially after receiving that booking confirmation for the National Theatre. You see, for a ballet enthusiast like myself, this wasn't just another performance, it was a historical event. You know that feeling when you're about to experience something magical and just know it will leave an unforgettable mark on your soul? Well, this was it!
Arriving in Prague via train felt wonderfully classic and utterly romantic. You can't get much more charming than watching the countryside melt away while you sip your tea. Honestly, those panoramic windows just beckoned me to settle in for an extended journey - it’s just a shame that Derbyshire isn't that far from London…
The first order of the day in Prague, of course, was to hunt down a little vintage shop for the perfect, Prague-themed outfit! Imagine: me, Emma, dancing my way through Prague… naturally, a tutu was in order. And of course, what better shade than the colour of that magical sunset over the Vltava River… a deep, romantic shade of blush! I found it nestled amidst the racks in a little shop overflowing with silk, lace, and delicate florals. That night, I was ready for an enchanting evening at the theatre, and I knew just the pony I wanted to meet up with.
National Theatre: A Step Back In TimeStanding in the foyer of the National Theatre, it was impossible not to be overwhelmed by the sheer magnificence of this 19th-century architectural gem. It truly felt like stepping into the heart of a classic fairy tale, and the stage - ah! A testament to artistic dreams given wings!
As the music swelled and the lights dimmed, I took a moment to appreciate the breathtaking setting. The history felt palpable - all those generations of ballet stars dancing beneath those very chandeliers... But of course, I wasn't just here to revel in history. I was eager to be mesmerized by a new performance, and I wasn’t disappointed! The dancers, with their flawless grace and unwavering precision, truly embodied the spirit of the piece. Each pirouette, each grand jeté, painted a picture of unbridled joy and unfaltering beauty.
And the ballet… I couldn't possibly talk about it without mentioning the costumes. Imagine… pale pink satin tutus with just a hint of gold embroidery, perfectly complementing the exquisite backdrop. Each layer of the tutus flowed with the dancers, like gentle whispers of fabric responding to the rhythms of the performance. Of course, pink was a definite theme in the costumes (I couldn't be happier!). This magical performance had me utterly captivated, transported to a world where elegance and storytelling intertwine.
Prague, A Fairy Tale come to LifeWalking back through the moonlit streets of Prague after the performance, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. This city, with its magical ambiance, had become an extension of the fairy tale that I'd just witnessed. Everywhere I looked, beauty shimmered – in the golden glow of the lampposts, in the reflections of the Vltava, and in the charming details of every corner.
You know that feeling when your soul is singing… Well, that was me! I'd been on this whirlwind journey - from dancing with ponies in the fields of Derbyshire to the grand stage of Prague… It was pure magic!
Of course, my journey isn’t quite over yet! I have an afternoon at the ballet school in Prague tomorrow morning! Oh, and a delicious lunch planned at the gorgeous little cafe right across the street from the school… I have my trusty ballet bag packed and I can’t wait for tomorrow. I will share my day with you on my blog next week!
Until then, be sure to let me know what you think about Prague, or tell me your favourite tutu memory, in the comments!
Stay twirling,
Emma x
