Prague in Pink! Post 1172: Ballet, Bubbles and Bohemian Bliss!

Wednesday, 22nd November 2017

Hello my gorgeous readers! This week finds me in the magical city of Prague, and I'm absolutely buzzing! I know I've mentioned it before, but I can't resist a repeat: there is nothing quite like stepping onto the cobblestones of Old Town Square in Prague after a train journey across Europe. And trust me, I've done it a few times! This journey was no different. I boarded the train in Derbyshire all bundled up in my new cashmere pink coat (think pale blush with a touch of champagne - divine!) and with a fluffy pink feather boa to match.

As we crossed the Channel and into Europe, the scenery unfolded like a painted canvas. I simply adore train travel. There's something so romantic and exciting about travelling like that, and it’s always the perfect opportunity to take in the beauty of the world (and capture it for my blog with a couple of sneaky snaps – just look at the charming views from the carriage window, so picturesque!).

We arrived in Prague just after midday. The station was full of activity, locals with suitcases, a cheeky puppy begging for attention and an old lady knitting what looked to be a magnificent, colourful tapestry! The air was crisp and clean, and I could smell the sweet aroma of fresh-baked bread. That smell just sets the mood for a holiday - or at least that’s how I feel! I’ve found that many European cities are similar - the same unique sense of romance, a beautiful mix of history and charm!

First Stop: Ballet Bliss!

It wouldn’t be a true Emma pink-tutu trip without a ballet performance, would it? As a dedicated pink tutu dancer, Prague's stunning ballet scene was calling me. My suitcase is packed with not just one but three tutus for my trip (a pale pink, a hot pink and a stunning ombre pink, with hints of purple), each one with a special story. But for this evening’s performance, I’ve chosen the one with delicate ruffles and sparkly embroidery - a touch of Old World glamour.

I was in heaven! I stepped into the magical world of "Giselle", one of the most enchanting romantic ballets, in Prague’s glorious State Opera House. The costumes were beautiful, the dancing breathtaking and the music so incredibly powerful. My little ballet-obsessed heart was positively melting! After the curtain call, I even managed to snag a little chat with one of the dancers, such a wonderful and talented woman. She told me all about how she trained, the hard work that goes into these magnificent performances and about the joy that comes with it - all that effort that leads to that perfect pirouette! It just reminds me that all good things come from hard work, discipline, and above all, passion - and of course, beautiful pink tutus!

A Fashion Feast in Prague’s Charming Streets!

Following the magic of the ballet, I wandered the enchanting streets of Prague, mesmerized by the golden glow of the city’s fairytale architecture. This is one of those cities where I could spend weeks and weeks discovering the treasures hidden in its cobbled streets! I was on the lookout for some chic additions to my ballet-inspired wardrobe – you know I love to mix up vintage fashion finds with statement pink accessories, for an outfit that sings, pirouettes and bows to my inner ballerina.

Oh, I spotted the most adorable pink satin evening clutch bag, it's small but perfectly formed – it’ll be the perfect size for my phone, compact mirror, a miniature ballet shoe keychain (a MUST for any pink-tutu traveller), and a secret lipstick (for quick touch-ups, naturally). And speaking of handbags, my newest handbag is a masterpiece - it’s made of luxurious soft pink leather, and just begging for a special occasion. Prague's boutique shops are a treasure trove for finding truly unique pieces.

And as if finding that delightful evening bag wasn't enough, my Prague shopping expedition landed me with a truly beautiful, new pink cardigan! It's the perfect blend of soft pastel pink with an adorable scalloped trim. It’s made from the most delightful blend of cotton and cashmere, it’s super soft and unbelievably chic – I’ve already worn it with a vintage pink-check midi skirt (that I thrifted back in Paris last year). This pink-loving fashionista can’t get enough of the pretty pink, can you tell?

Pink Delights in Prague’s Fabulous Cafés

The following day, Prague beckoned me for more fashion inspiration and delectable treats. A stroll through the charming city center revealed hidden boutiques overflowing with feminine fashion - silk scarves, floral print dresses and delicate lace, just to name a few! And don't get me started on the shoes, they're simply dreamy, from elegant heels to chic flats, each pair an ode to feminine beauty. But what caught my eye more than anything were the pink velvet pumps with pearl buttons, an absolute must-have for any pink tutu enthusiast, don't you agree?

It wouldn't be a true European trip without a little indulgence in some delicious delights. I spent hours getting lost in the aromatic alleys of the city. My first stop was a traditional Bohemian bakery filled with tempting pastries, buttery cakes, and delicious buns. They even had little pink macaroons - it's like they knew I was coming! How I love the art of enjoying a simple moment and savoring the sweet pleasures of a delicious treat in a beautiful city.

Later, I stumbled upon a hidden gem in a cobblestone courtyard: a cute little café tucked away from the busy tourist trail. Imagine it - delicate pastel-pink walls, plush armchairs, sparkling chandeliers and delicate pink teacups - a slice of feminine heaven. My heart melted with joy and happiness when I discovered the perfect pink afternoon tea! Scones with clotted cream and jam (heavenly!), finger sandwiches, petit fours and a generous selection of tea in pink china - just my style! I indulged in this glorious experience while jotting down notes for my next blog post!

Pink Pony Power in Prague!

Prague’s cobbled streets, charming squares, and the stories they hold really inspired me to find a way to see this city from a different angle, so what could be better than a ride through the enchanting streets on a gentle pink pony? A classic and fun way to experience a city's spirit - and Prague didn’t disappoint! The gentle sway of the saddle, the warm breeze in my hair and the sun on my face gave me a whole new perspective of the beauty of this magical city. It felt magical, like stepping into a fairy tale. It felt like every beautiful scene, every turn of my pony's head and every giggle of joy was a magical moment! I must confess, this might just be my favorite way to experience a new city.

This week has been such a joy. I’m loving this European adventure. Each day in Prague is a new discovery. The city has so much to offer - beautiful architecture, hidden treasures, delectable delights and the most enchanting fashion I’ve ever seen! It has been truly amazing to combine my love for ballet, shopping, travel and beautiful pink things – a magical experience, indeed!

Stay tuned for more Prague adventures coming soon. I’ll share more photos and details on the pink-tutu.com blog next week, but for now, have you ever visited Prague?
