Prague, Oh Prague, You Steal My Heart! (Post #1174)
Hello, my darling tutu-lovers! Emma here, reporting live from the enchanting city of Prague, and let me tell you, I am absolutely smitten. Itās a fairytale, a dream come true, and you know me, I love a good fairytale, especially when it comes with a splash of pink!
This week, weāre making our way through Prague, taking in the cobbled streets, the ancient architecture, and oh my, the shopping! This is the place for vintage finds, especially for a ballerina who loves a good tutu. Just you wait until you see my finds. And don't forget, my loves, we're posting every Wednesday on www.pink-tutu.com, so be sure to check back for my weekly adventures!
So, where have I been? This morning, I awoke to the gentle rhythm of the Prague tram rattling by, and with a skip and a hop, I joined it for a journey into the heart of the city. Now, as you all know, I love my trains, but there's something utterly romantic about a tram rattling along the ancient cobbles, particularly when it's just me and a stunning panorama of the city's iconic buildings. It truly makes you feel like you've stepped straight into a storybook.
But wait, it gets better! I couldn't be in Prague without stopping by the National Theatre, now, could I? It's one of the city's grandest buildings, standing proudly on the banks of the Vltava river. Honestly, just walking into that theatre feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by velvet curtains, opulent chandeliers, and the echo of the grandest ballets in history. They have an impressive history of performances, stretching back centuries. From those first performances in the 19th century right up to modern ballets, itās a treasure trove of theatrical history!
My favourite, of course, has to be the story of The Ballet of the State Opera. Itās got all the makings of a ballet legend, just the way I like it. There are stories of how the dancers used to have to perform their roles with no tutus - can you imagine? Luckily, times have changed and those beautiful tutus are back, more magnificent than ever! The whole history, the beauty of the theatre, and the rich tradition just filled me with so much joy! It inspired me to take some notes and find my own ballerina "grand entrance" move ā a twirl, a curtsey, maybe a grand jete to get all the attention. (But donāt worry, I kept my pink tutu on this time!).
Anyway, speaking of grand entrances, this afternoon I decided to head out on a pony ride! You see, Prague is the perfect place to do it! Imagine the fairytale feel of cantering through the Old Town Square, past the astronomical clock, the dancing figures, and the charming streets - truly a fairytale. Honestly, Prague is so stunning that every moment feels like a photo opportunity, even with a pink tutu on!
As evening fell, the city's skyline was bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, and I couldnāt resist finding the perfect spot on the Charles Bridge for a moment of reflection. It was so incredibly magical to see all those enchanting towers illuminated in a soft, golden light, it truly feels like you've stepped into a postcard! The beauty just mesmerized me and you know what, I couldnāt resist taking a couple of āinstagram-worthyā pictures of myself, to show off my amazing, twirling pink tutu against this dreamy cityscape backdrop, as Iām sure you can imagine.
Of course, my evening would not be complete without a ballet show at the State Opera. I saw āSwan Lakeā and, as always, it had me utterly captivated, with its story of love, betrayal, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. Honestly, every dancerās passion just shone through in every graceful step, every flowing move and those dramatic final momentsā¦ I swear, my heart almost leapt out of my chest with the sheer joy of it all. I must say that the performance at the State Opera reminded me of the absolute importance of staying true to yourself, to your passions, no matter what life throws at you. It's truly inspiring, and a reminder that beauty comes in many forms. Of course, Iāve still got to write a detailed review of the entire show on www.pink-tutu.com.
Prague is filled with so many enchanting surprises, and each day holds the promise of another amazing experience. From cobbled streets to fairy tale rides, a touch of magic is always just around the corner. I truly believe everyone should experience the wonder of Prague. And for the record, it's the perfect city to let your inner tutu princess loose!
My darling tutu-lovers, stay tuned for more Prague adventures, and donāt forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com for all my latest tips, outfits, and of course, photos! And, as always, stay beautiful and embrace the power of pink!
P.S. I've heard that the Prague Ballet is performing āLa Sylphideā *at the *State Opera * on *Wednesday, December 6th in 2017, and let me tell you, this is one balletic spectacular thatās on my must-see list. If you happen to be in Prague then, do go and check it out! You won't be disappointed.
Until next week, stay twirly,
Emma
