Pink Tutu Prague: Post #1177 - Ballet, Bows & Bohemian Charm!

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new Pink Tutu Prague post! This week I've been whisked away to the enchanting city of Prague, and trust me, this fairy tale city has me completely under its spell.

The journey here was pure magic. My darling little mare, Buttercup, took me all the way from Derbyshire, stopping only for a delightful picnic in the heart of the English countryside. It's always a treat to feel the gentle sway of the saddle beneath me, the sun warming my face, and Buttercup's hooves clicking a merry tune on the cobbled paths. Of course, no journey is complete without my trusty pink tutu twirling beside me – it's not every day you see a pink-clad ballerina on horseback!

Upon arrival in Prague, I was greeted by a symphony of sights and sounds. Cobbled streets winding through centuries-old buildings, a charming aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the air, and the friendly smiles of locals as I wandered through the charming markets.

Oh, my dear readers, Prague is a city brimming with an unparalleled beauty and rich history, truly a wonderland for any ballet-loving soul. I had to visit the exquisite Old Town Square, home to the Astronomical Clock. Its intricate artistry captivated me, a ballet of mechanical figures twirling and spinning, an ode to time's graceful waltz.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - ballet! Oh, the glorious performances, the exquisite costumes, the breathtaking choreography - I'm truly living a ballerina's dream! I couldn't resist a visit to the National Theatre where the very air seems to whisper of dance. As I stepped into the theatre, I felt transported to a world of pure artistry and imagination, my pink tutu swirling in harmony with the grand chandeliers and velvety seats.

On December 27th, Prague was alive with festive cheer. I joined in the celebration by taking a charming tour of the Prague Castle, admiring the majestic architecture and enjoying the dazzling Christmas markets brimming with handcrafted trinkets and warm mulled wine.

And speaking of trinkets, Prague is a shopper's paradise! From vintage clothing shops nestled in the quaint alleyways to sleek boutiques boasting contemporary designs, every corner offered something to tantalise my fashion senses. I treated myself to a whimsical silk scarf with intricate floral patterns and a pair of dainty velvet slippers that reminded me of a ballerina's pointe shoes.

One of the highlights of my Prague adventure was a private ballet lesson with a renowned instructor. We explored the history of Czech ballet, from the romanticism of the 19th century to the innovative modern choreography of today. My ballet instructor was a true expert in the art, and she regaled me with tales of legendary ballerinas like Anna Pavlova and the incredible evolution of ballet costumes.

Naturally, we delved into the history of tutus. Can you believe, my dears, that the tutu's humble origins trace back to the early 19th century? Originally designed to highlight the ballerinas' nimble footwork and graceful lines, the tutu has transformed from the simple white to elaborate designs adorned with shimmering sequins and feathers. It’s no surprise, really, that the tutu has become a symbol of elegance, artistry, and of course, a touch of whimsical magic!

And as always, I couldn't resist a spot of ballet-inspired street performance! On the Charles Bridge, amidst the bustling crowds and harmonica melodies, I discovered a group of local performers. With flowing scarves and synchronized movements, they transformed the cobbled bridge into a theatre of the unexpected, their dancing drawing in crowds to marvel at their beauty. I had to twirl in on the fun, naturally. A little pink tutu in a sea of artistry – what's a girl to do but dance?

It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Prague post without sharing my ballet finds. In Prague, I discovered a quaint antique shop housing a collection of antique ballet posters. They were magnificent! Each poster depicted dancers in intricate costumes, evoking a bygone era of ballet and a beautiful glimpse of history. I even discovered an original programme from the National Theatre, a precious piece that now graces my ballet archive.

Before I say adieu, I wanted to share a special little something with you. Prague holds a secret, tucked away within its captivating streets – a unique ballet boutique called "Le Papillon Blanc". This little shop is a ballerina's dream come true, brimming with a dazzling array of tulle tutus, satin shoes, and exquisitely crafted ballet accessories. My heart skipped a beat as I wandered through its delightful corridors.

As I've mentioned before, I have a secret wish – to spread the love of ballet and pink tutus throughout the world! If you find yourself in the magical city of Prague, make sure you step inside "Le Papillon Blanc", I'm certain you'll be captivated by its charm and the graceful magic within!

Until next week, my lovely readers, stay inspired, stay chic, and always keep a little pink tutu magic in your hearts!

With a flurry of tutus and a pirouette of love,

Emma
