Hello darlings!
It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Prague! cue the fanfare, confetti, and a chorus of "The Nutcracker" playing in the background. Yes, it's true! This beautiful city has beckoned me, and with the allure of majestic architecture, a tantalising scent of strudel wafting in the air, and the promise of a splendid ballet performance at the National Theatre, I couldn't possibly resist!
It's been a whirlwind journey. You see, a truly fashionable pink tutu girl never simply takes a flight. That's far too mundane! I travelled by train, darling! The romantic chugging, the panoramic vistas, the quaint villages… a pure delight for the senses, and it certainly allows one to indulge in the art of accessorising a bit more. cough cough Let's just say a flamboyant pink tutu with a dash of Czech countryside scenery makes for a fabulously glamorous train journey, don't you agree?
Speaking of accessorising, you wouldn't believe what I found at the little boutique just down the road from my hotel, darling! A delicate pink feathered fascinator adorned with delicate Swarovski crystals, oh, it's divine! It would be perfect for the opera or even a glamorous dinner at the fabulous Café Slavia, don't you think? The thought of pairing it with a fabulous, full-skirted pink tutu (which I snagged just for this occasion) sends shivers of delight down my spine!
Prague itself, dear readers, is a feast for the eyes. The city itself has the most beautiful mix of Baroque architecture, cobbled streets, and stunning medieval squares – it’s just so romantic! And let's not forget about those pastel-coloured buildings, they are absolutely perfect for taking those adorable 'gram-worthy shots that every stylish tutu girl needs.
Speaking of stylish tutu girls… I have to tell you about the incredible National Theatre! The ballet, darling! You just can't imagine! The costumes, the choreography, the grace! This is where I learned that Prague boasts a ballet tradition almost as rich as the famous fairytale stories from Bohemia. They even have a magnificent ballet school that's as grand as a princess’s ballroom, which was pretty much designed with my fabulous pink tutus in mind, if I do say so myself! I think a tour may be on the cards soon!
I’ve had a glimpse of some amazing dancers, and I can tell you, Prague knows its tutus. They take their ballet very seriously here. Which is no surprise, given its history as a melting pot of dance traditions. Did you know that some of the first ballet troupes in Bohemia came about due to French and Italian influence? It’s just another layer to this amazing, layered city, which really does seem to dance to its own beat. And, my darling readers, you can tell! From the classical grandeur of the National Theatre, to the trendy cafes that double as impromptu street ballet stages, Prague is teeming with life and rhythm.
Of course, what trip to Prague would be complete without experiencing a taste of the local culture? I’ve already tasted the most delectable cinnamon strudel (which, as a passionate advocate for the importance of healthy eating and enjoying life’s little treats, was an absolute delight! The flaky pastry paired perfectly with my post-ballet afternoon tea!). It’s certainly giving my Derbyshire pastries a run for their money.
Tonight is going to be epic, darlings! You’ll never guess who I’m going to see perform? I have a very exciting surprise coming your way. This amazing ballerina’s choreography was absolutely mesmerizing, and you have to stay tuned for all the details in next week’s post! But I’m going to be indulging in a glass of Bohemia Sekt while I ponder this next week's blog! Oh, darling, I could get used to life as a pink-tutu-wearing, champagne-loving traveller!
