This week, I'm hopping onto the blogosphere straight from the magical cobblestone streets of Prague! Oh, the romance! The fairytale charm! And the abundance of shops for me to get my tutu-obsessed hands on some exquisite, fairytale-worthy outfits!
As you all know, I adore a good train journey - there's just something so glamorous about whizzing through countryside scenery in a sleek carriage, sipping tea and dreaming of the adventures that await. So, it's no surprise that my journey from Derbyshire to Prague was a truly enchanting experience. The carriage was filled with fellow travelers, all with that air of wanderlust, their eyes gleaming with excitement, just like mine!
Now, let's talk about Prague. Imagine cobbled streets lined with colourful buildings, shimmering rivers reflecting the sun, and ancient towers reaching towards the heavens. This city whispers with history, echoing with tales of kings and queens, emperors and empresses. Just the sort of place a girl in a pink tutu feels right at home, wouldn't you say?
A Whirlwind of Pink and Pointes
As a ballet blogger, it goes without saying that my trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to the magical world of the Prague Ballet. Oh, the stories they told, the emotions they evoked, the sheer artistry of their every move! And to think, it all started back in 1945, right in the heart of this fairytale city. Imagine, the post-war world, yearning for beauty and hope, and the Prague Ballet blooming forth as a beacon of artistic expression! How truly inspirational!
And as if that wasn't enough to make my tutu heart skip a beat, I was absolutely delighted to discover the Czech Republic is actually renowned for its ballerinas! Think names like Natalia Makarova, the stunningly talented Bolshoi Theatre graduate, and Alice David, who captured the world's heart with her dazzling performances. Talk about inspiring, isn't it?
But my love for Prague goes beyond just ballet...
Yes, you heard right! This city is a wonderland for a girl who loves all things fashion, especially a girl who adores a good tutu! Just strolling through the quaint streets, you're met with shops overflowing with unique treasures: exquisite vintage dresses, hand-knitted shawls, beautifully crafted hats... and of course, shops brimming with the most adorable accessories! I could easily spend days browsing and imagining the many, many outfit combinations, from whimsical day dresses to decadent evening gowns - all punctuated by the most magnificent pink tutus, of course!
Shopping for my Pink Tutu Heart's Desire
This week, I'm on the hunt for the most exquisite pink tutu to add to my collection - think the perfect blend of elegance and playful charm. And Prague is not letting me down! From the elegant boutiquers to the charming vintage shops tucked away on side streets, this city is a paradise for the sartorially-inclined! I'm imagining a shimmering, swirling confection of pink tulle, the sort of tutu that makes you want to twirl into the night under a sky full of stars!
Ballet Beyond the Stage
Beyond the stage and the shopfronts, I've discovered that the spirit of ballet permeates Prague's very essence. On the cobblestones, I see children mimicking their favourite dancers, and hear music swirling from open windows, a constant reminder of the power of art.
The other day, I even stumbled upon a street performance – a troupe of young dancers gracefully pirouetting amidst the hustle and bustle of a bustling marketplace. It was like a miniature, impromptu ballet performance in the most enchanting setting imaginable!
