Prague: Ballet Bliss and Pink Power - Post #1192

Wednesday, 11th April, 2018

Bonjour, mon petit chou-chous!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina blogger, back with another post from the absolutely breathtaking city of Prague! This week, I'm going to share some insights into the world of ballet here, where it feels like the stage is set for a performance on every corner!

My train journey here was, as always, pure escapism. I spent the whole trip lost in a delightful world of travel books, fashion magazines and - of course - my pink ballet bag! It's quite the sight - a riot of pink amidst the more conventional suitcases and travel backpacks. I just love how a bit of pink can brighten up even the most dreary of journeys!

Upon arriving in Prague, I felt a little like a character straight out of a fairytale, surrounded by charming cobblestone streets and exquisite architecture. It felt like every building was a miniature palace, and every fountain a graceful sculpture!

Prague has a truly unique atmosphere, a captivating mix of ancient and modern that immediately sucked me into its world.

I'm staying in the heart of the city in a little boutique hotel with an oh-so-chic pink-hued bathroom - naturally! The walls are adorned with photographs of beautiful ballerinas, which immediately sparked my inner dance enthusiast. It seems like a bit of a running theme, you see, I just adore finding connections between fashion, history, art, and my absolute passion – ballet.

I set off for a quick spot of lunch in the Old Town Square - Prague's bustling heart. While enjoying a delicious Bohemian beef stew (the flavours! so delicious!) I found myself fascinated by the beautiful architecture surrounding me. It really felt like being transported back to the baroque and renaissance eras, just perfect for imagining a ballet scene unfolding before my very eyes!

And of course, what trip to Prague would be complete without a little bit of shopping! The fashion scene here is exquisite, especially for the kind of ballet-inspired look I adore. I’m completely enamored with the lace, velvet, and luxurious textures available in Prague. I had to snag a beautiful black tulle skirt that looked like something straight out of a romantic ballet production! (Don't worry, my little pink ballet bag can never have enough pink inside it!)

Speaking of pink, my latest ballet project – I'm dreaming up an all-pink ballet performance! I’m trying to find a location here in Prague, perhaps a gorgeous courtyard, or even a historical theatre with a fabulous balcony - something truly majestic that would lend itself to the theatricality of pink tutus and ballet in its most elegant form! My biggest challenge will be finding enough ballerinas brave enough to join me!

I'm looking forward to diving into some of the more historical aspects of Prague - exploring some of the ballet theatres that have existed here over the centuries. Prague’s long and rich history of theatre, opera and dance are inspiring to me. And of course, I can't forget the breathtaking architecture - each structure feels like a masterpiece waiting to be incorporated into a ballet! I can already picture the exquisite choreography, the dramatic costumes and the delicate movements that could translate into something magical here.

And then there’s the magic of seeing ballet in the open air – a street performance under a beautiful sky. Imagine dancing in a romantic, cobbled street in the heart of the Old Town, bathed in golden light. It’s something I feel absolutely needs to happen! I know Prague is a city that understands romance, and I can't imagine a more magical setting for ballet than the beauty of its historic squares.

However, the real highlight of my trip has been attending the stunning performance at the National Theatre last night! Imagine, a ballet masterpiece brought to life under the most magnificent chandeliers. The costumes were glorious - each detail was so finely crafted and full of character. I just couldn’t resist sketching them into my journal as the dance flowed with exquisite elegance and precision. I swear, some of the ballerinas floated across the stage, their movements graceful and utterly captivating. And, oh, the emotions that radiated from them. It was a beautiful, stirring display of artistic brilliance that had me mesmerised from start to finish.

My mind is buzzing with all the inspiration I’ve soaked up today! I'm so excited to incorporate this Parisian adventure into my future ballet performances. It’s my aim, you know, to take pink tutus to every corner of the world! Think pink tutus in Venice! Think pink tutus in Seville! Maybe even pink tutus at Buckingham Palace (a girl can dream, right?!)

That’s all for this week, my darlings! Join me again next Wednesday for another adventure into the world of pink tutus and my European travels. I’ve already booked a journey to… but shush, that's a secret for next week’s blog post. You know me, always loving the element of surprise!

Au revoir, mon petit chou-chous, and happy dancing!

Emma xx
