Prague, Oh Prague! #1196

Wednesday 9th May, 2018

Hello darlings!

It's your girl, Emma, here, writing to you live from the glorious city of Prague! Can you believe it, my darlings? This is my first time in the Czech Republic, and already I'm smitten. It's like stepping into a fairytale! The cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, the delicious food ā€“ oh my, it's pure magic. And did I mention the castles?

I know I'm biased, being a tutu aficionado and all, but you know, it just feels so incredibly right to twirl through Prague's historical streets in my trusty pink tutu. I honestly think the city is designed for it. I imagine some dashing prince, long, long ago, taking a beautiful princess in a flowing, pink tulle skirt to waltz beneath the magnificent Prague astronomical clock! Oh, wouldn't that be a delightful sight?

Speaking of magical moments, I had the most wonderful day today. My heart, you see, couldn't handle being in a city with such rich history without checking out its ballet scene. So I took a day trip out to a beautiful little town called Litoměřice. Yes, you heard me right ā€“ a day trip by pony! Okay, okay, maybe not by pony exactly, but by a delightful little train called the ā€œPosĆ”zavskĆ½ Pacifikā€. Let me tell you, there's something very magical about chugging through the countryside in a historic train car. You could feel the echoes of the past and the scent of adventures yet to come, all in one magical puff of steam. It reminded me a little of my dear Derbyshire countryside ā€“ the rolling hills, the cute cottages, and the peaceful meadows just begged me to wear my fanciest pink tutu!

Anyways, in Litoměřice, I discovered the beautiful Klicperovo divadlo (Klicpera Theatre). What a glorious treasure! And do you know what? It's still showing original performances ā€“ just like they did a century ago. And oh, the costumes! All swirling velvet, silk, and sequins, all perfect for a magnificent dance. This theater holds a lot of ballet history, I tell you, and if its walls could talk, I think they would tell us many an amazing story.

Unfortunately, no actual performances were running on this particular day (a terrible injustice, I tell you!), so I wasnā€™t able to see some beautiful ballet firsthand. But what I did see was enough to completely blow my mind. This was no ordinary theatre, my darlings. I think every step you take there is practically soaked in some sort of historical ballet juice. I even got to do a bit of impromptu dancing with a sweet little ballet dancer, and let me tell you, there was magic in the air, if you know what I mean! It really sparked something inside me, it did.

But don't fret, because even though I didn't manage to see a show, I discovered a lovely little ballet shop near the Klicperovo Divadlo. And wouldnā€™t you know it, they had the most exquisite little tutu collection in all the colours of the rainbow! I just had to get a new pink one. Oh, it's beautiful. Soft, flowy, with a hint of sparkling silver. And it is, dare I say, the perfect accessory for a day of adventure in Prague. The woman in the shop told me the story of the buildingā€™s history, how the original ownerā€™s wife was a dancer who dreamed of touring Europe in a pink tutu. Talk about dreams!

Later, back in Prague, I found myself at the breathtaking Old Town Square. The iconic astronomical clock was striking its beautiful chime right as I arrived, surrounded by thousands of other enchanted onlookers. The city was a blur of stunning pastel buildings, lively musicians, and a flurry of excitement that took my breath away.

It is honestly incredible how, despite all the cultural shifts and passing centuries, this amazing place has managed to retain its charm. Prague just radiates magic and an air of wonder, something so unique that, my darlings, I found myself lost in the beauty of it all. And you know what? You just canā€™t help but twirl a little. Prague's charming history and artistic energy got to my tutu heart in a big way, and I had a good dance right there in the middle of Old Town Square, just like all the happy ladies who danced there centuries ago. I just love the way I can feel history and beauty swirl around me when I twirl in a pink tutu!

After an evening filled with twirling and breathtaking architecture, I spent the night indulging in some very traditional, yet delectable, Czech food, which, honestly, I felt very much obliged to wear my newly bought pink tutu to enjoy. You just know that these delicious meals taste even better in a fabulous tutu! But alas, darling readers, it is time for me to say "goodnight" from Prague for now. More fabulous ballet adventures await, as always, and I cannot wait to share them all with you.

Stay beautiful, my darlings.

Until next week,

Emma
