Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballerina's Dream Come True! (Blog Post #1216)

Hello my darlings!

It’s Wednesday again, and you know what that means! A new Pink Tutu Prague post, fresh from the heart of this magical city! It’s Emma here, your favourite ballerina blogger, ready to whisk you away to a world of twirling, tutus, and all things pink.

This week, I’ve been absolutely smitten with Prague. This city is practically bursting with old-world charm, cobbled streets, and stunning architecture that’s begging to be photographed - with a tutu, naturally!

My Prague Adventures:

Since arriving on Saturday, my time here has been a whirl of fairytale adventures. I’ve already ticked off all the tourist hotspots: gazing at the iconic Charles Bridge, wandering the historic Old Town Square, and sipping coffee in a charming cafe while watching the world go by. Every corner here whispers with stories from centuries past, and the energy is absolutely electric.

But enough about the usual sights! Let's delve into what makes this city truly special for a ballerina like me.

The Magic of Ballet in Prague:

Prague is renowned for its vibrant ballet scene. My heart skipped a beat when I discovered the National Theatre, a magnificent edifice of Neo-Renaissance architecture. You wouldn’t believe how stunning it is, both inside and out. The theatre has hosted countless legendary ballets and operas, and I can just imagine the grandeur of a performance here.

This evening, I’m catching a show at the National Theatre called "The Nutcracker". The National Theatre's reputation for excellence in ballet precedes it, and I’m so excited to see this timeless classic come to life. It's a must-see for any ballet lover!

Tutu Tales from the Past:

Speaking of timeless classics, one of my favourite things to do while travelling is to learn about the history of the ballet in each city I visit. I find the stories behind the costumes and the dances utterly fascinating. This weekend, I took a guided tour of the National Theatre's archives, where I saw some truly stunning original tutus from past productions! It’s mind-blowing to think how these creations, with their layers of tulle and painstaking embroidery, have been worn by so many talented dancers throughout history.

The history of the tutu is actually quite fascinating, a story intertwined with fashion, societal expectations, and, of course, the evolution of dance. My pink tutus today wouldn’t have been as glamorous if it weren’t for the brave, beautiful dancers who pioneered the use of tulle in the 18th and 19th centuries. Every time I put on a tutu, it's like I'm stepping into their legacy, their passion for artistry and self-expression.

Finding Fashion Inspiration:

Prague is also a fashion lover’s paradise! The city boasts an eclectic mix of vintage shops, high-end boutiques, and everything in between. I've already treated myself to a few fabulous purchases – a statement pair of pink velvet ballet flats (perfect for the cobblestones!), a beautiful handmade broach shaped like a swan (I couldn't resist!), and a luxurious silk scarf with an exquisite floral pattern that would make even a duchess jealous.

Of course, every purchase must be complimented with a perfectly staged photo opportunity. My favourite spot for a glamorous shoot is in front of the ornate Golden Lane, a whimsical alley filled with charming little houses. These photogenic corners are all just begging for a twirl!

My Favourite Spot: Old Town Square

No trip to Prague would be complete without spending some time in the Old Town Square. I just love the buzzing atmosphere, the majestic buildings, the lively music from street performers, and, most importantly, the sheer vibrancy of this historic heart of the city.

I particularly adore the astronomical clock, a beautiful, ornate contraption that comes to life every hour. There are many locals and tourists waiting around the clock to watch its elaborate puppet show. Even in the daytime, the astronomical clock is captivating with its intricate design and colourful details. This clock truly captures the magic and mystery of Prague!

Life in the Fast Lane…On a Horse and a Train:

Of course, one can't travel around a city this grand without exploring its many secrets! This weekend, I rented a magnificent black stallion (aren’t you lucky I’ve learnt a bit about horses growing up in Derbyshire!) and explored the countryside beyond the city walls. I galloped through emerald green fields dotted with colourful wildflowers, feeling like a modern-day princess on a white charger. The beauty of the countryside is simply breathtaking.

During the week, however, my transportation of choice is the train. I find travelling by train so romantic and it gives me the perfect opportunity to sketch in my travel journal (yes, I’m still rocking my little pink ballerina notebook, even though my social media has plenty of online options!) I’ve been filling it with drawings of my favourite sights and even designing some new tutu patterns inspired by Prague's architecture!

Ballet Inspiration, Pink Tutus, and Global Dreams

There is something utterly inspiring about exploring different parts of the world. Each city brings new adventures, new colours, and new ideas. I love how my experiences inspire my dance and design work. I even sketched a whole series of dance moves based on the elegant bridges I’ve been admiring here!

I've already got some amazing ideas for future tutu creations – think romantic tulle skirts with floral embellishments and flowing fabric designs, inspired by Prague's vibrant gardens and fairytale-like architecture. Maybe even some Prague inspired prints - how cute would those be? My latest project involves designing an elaborate pink tutu with Swarovski crystals and custom embellishments, ready for a showstopping performance. You’ve never seen a pink tutu quite like this one!

The pink tutu is truly my muse. I want every little girl and every woman to embrace their inner ballerina and twirl into the world with confidence! I envision a future where the pink tutu isn’t just for the stage, but a symbol of joy, creativity, and a little bit of magic, sprinkled with just the right amount of sparkle, worn with pride everywhere you go. That’s the ultimate Pink Tutu dream!

Next Stop, Paris!

As I'm writing this, I'm already packing my bags and prepping for my next grand adventure – Paris, the City of Lights! Imagine twirling amongst the iconic sights of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the charming cafes, all dressed in my favourite pink tutu. This city is full of romantic magic, artistic energy, and exquisite fashion, and I'm dying to capture its beauty with my pink tutu!

Join me next week for more tales from my adventures, and remember, if you love the colour pink and dream of wearing a tutu, then the Pink Tutu World is for you. Until next time, darling!

Love and twirls,

Emma
