Post #1217: Prague in Pink - A Ballerina's Dream

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018

Oh, Prague! You beautiful, enchanting, historical city, you are the star of this week's Pink Tutu Blog post! Having just arrived by train, the scent of fresh, buttery pastries swirling around the station had me practically pirouetting into the bustling streets! I canā€™t think of a more beautiful and exciting city to start a European adventure.

This trip has been on the horizon for a long time. You see, I am on a lifelong mission to dance across every corner of the globe, with my trusted pink tutu as my companion! This isnā€™t just about the glitz and glamour of performance - itā€™s about experiencing the unique energy and artistry of different cultures. And what better way to immerse myself in the heartbeat of a new city than through the elegance and beauty of ballet?

This trip was funded by my recent ballet performance, a grand show where I had the honour of performing the swan lake pas de deux in a delicate blush pink tutu. You see, I truly believe that passion and performance go hand-in-hand. It's the driving force behind my travel adventures. Ballet is more than just graceful movements; it's a journey, an expression of life, and for me, itā€™s the perfect excuse to travel and see the world, one twirl at a time.

Prague, however, is an entirely different kind of spectacle. Just strolling through the cobbled streets feels like stepping onto a fairytale stage. Golden-hued buildings, soaring spires piercing the sky, and that charming, almost secret, sense of history swirling around you - itā€™s simply enchanting! I can't help but think of the countless stories whispered by these old walls, the dances and romances, the dramas and triumphs - history seeps into your bones.

I've already found myself entranced by the stunning architecture, from the magnificent Prague Castle to the intricate details of the Charles Bridge. But there's more to Prague than meets the eye. Did you know Prague holds the title of ā€œThe City of One Hundred Spiresā€? Thereā€™s a fairytale vibe about it.

It is no secret I am obsessed with the colour pink. I truly believe that every woman needs at least one pink tutu in her wardrobe. And if itā€™s possible to make this obsession travel-ready, why not add a little bit of that ā€œpink-tutuā€ sparkle to this trip? It is, after all, the perfect outfit for discovering new sights, from the old world charm of Prague to the exciting world of modern ballet.

I found myself instantly smitten with Pragueā€™s fashion scene. Walking around, I canā€™t help but feel as though every street corner is bursting with potential. You can feel the buzz in the air as fashion-forward designers and creatives flock to this artistic city.

This afternoon, after my delightful lunch at a traditional Czech cafe, I started exploring Pragueā€™s fantastic boutiques. I couldnā€™t resist treating myself to a few charming little additions for my wardrobe. And yes, I did manage to snag a gorgeous, soft pink satin scarf! This luxurious pink creation will perfectly complement the ensemble I have planned for the opera.

Speaking of ensembles, what better way to immerse oneself in a new city's culture than with a ballet performance? You know I had to find the perfect show in Prague to really experience its theatrical heartbeat. This weekend, Iā€™m absolutely thrilled to be attending the world-renowned National Theatreā€™s performance of ā€œSwan Lakeā€! A perfect way to feel the magic of ballet under the glittering chandeliers of a beautifully historic venue. This theatre has seen the performances of countless artists over the years, and the history whispers within these walls. Itā€™s practically begging me to dance with it.

On Saturday, Iā€™m excited to delve deeper into the cityā€™s cultural heart. Prague, known as the ā€œGolden Cityā€, is famed for its street performances, street theatre, and, of course, the vibrant ā€œstreet balletā€ - the everyday ballet that unfolds throughout the day in its everyday activities. It is such a vibrant city, and its life seems to pulse with the heartbeat of theatre. I plan on experiencing this buzzing world head on, taking in every bit of energy this unique, artistic city throws at me.

While exploring, I can't forget about the ballet side of things! I have discovered a lovely studio that specialises in classic Czech ballet training. I am a firm believer that the essence of ballet can be found in the tradition, the elegance of the original technique, and the simple yet elegant art of movement. Itā€™s something that continues to amaze and inspire me, and I plan on immersing myself in these classic roots and experiencing it from the heart of its home.

Before ending the blog for this week, I have to tell you about a rather unusual encounter on my journey. On my trip from Derbyshire, I made an unexpected journey through the countryside on a very special mode of transport ā€“ a pony named Willow! Willow is part of a very charming horse-drawn carriage company that adds a truly special touch to countryside trips. Willow even wore a pink ribbon tied on her mane for my journey. I couldn't help but feel that even ponies were drawn to my beloved colour!

I believe lifeā€™s too short not to add a little pink to every adventure. And that, dear readers, is precisely why I encourage each and every one of you to add a touch of pink tutu magic to your everyday life.

It is a magical place and a perfect start to my adventures in Europe. Prague is indeed a true dancer's paradise, a place where every step feels like a waltz, and the very air itself hums with the rhythm of elegance and grace. So, for all you pink tutu lovers, embrace your inner ballerina and step into the magic of Prague, for thereā€™s no place quite like it on earth.

And don't forget, next Wednesday, I'll be back with a fresh blog post. Until then, dance on!
