Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballet Lover's Dream Come True! (Post #1222)
Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballet blogger, and I'm writing to you straight from the heart of Prague! I’m absolutely bursting with excitement and stories from this utterly charming city – it’s like stepping straight into a fairytale!
This week's blog post marks a special occasion. Not only is it Wednesday, the day we gather for our weekly dose of all things pink and tutu-licious, but it's also the day I realised a dream I’ve had since childhood! You see, darling, today was the day I witnessed the magnificent performance of the Prague National Theatre Ballet. And let me tell you, it was pure magic.
But before we delve into the balletic wonder of Prague, let's talk about how I even got here! My journey to this breathtaking city was as lovely as the destination. My recent performances have been wildly successful, and that, darling, is how I afford these wonderful travels! My darling friend Harriet and I travelled from Derbyshire by train, with my beloved pink tutu neatly tucked into my vintage luggage. The carriage was full of jolly, boisterous souls, and there was even a friendly chap who was dressed in full, rather dapper, tweed. Such an excellent beginning to the journey!
Arriving at the station in Prague, my jaw dropped. The architecture is just stunning! Think towering spires, cobbled streets, and pastel-hued buildings - a sight that’s a feast for the eyes, indeed! After dropping our luggage at the cutest little hotel with a rose garden (we've been pampered, darlings!), Harriet and I set off to explore.
We discovered a hidden treasure – a quaint vintage shop crammed with beautiful old tutus! Harriet just had to have one in pale blue satin. It's going to be spectacular on her! Imagine my delight, darling, when we walked into a shop crammed full of ballet shoes – I just couldn’t resist. I got myself a beautiful pair with dainty lace edging.
Speaking of beautiful things, darling, you wouldn't believe the food! We feasted on the most decadent pastries and coffee in a delightful café by the river. Every single day feels like a celebration here. The whole city is just so enchanting and picturesque, perfect for twirling in my pink tutu!
But let's get back to the star of the show, darling – the Prague National Theatre Ballet!
Oh my, what a magnificent theatre! I felt a frisson of excitement walking through the grand doors. The décor was truly breathtaking, with intricate details, shimmering chandeliers, and a stage that seemed to whisper promises of wondrous storytelling.
And then, the music began.
As the strings of the orchestra played, I found myself enveloped by a wave of emotions. There’s truly something special about a ballet that can stir your soul. And this, darling, was an absolute triumph of art and talent.
The performance itself was a story spun in grace and emotion, captivating every inch of my heart. The ballerinas were simply breathtaking – such control, strength, and beauty. Their movements were as effortless as the flight of a bird, telling tales through each leap, plié, and turn. The artistry on display was simply phenomenal.
And the tutus, darling! The tutu history here is remarkable! I was particularly captivated by the costumes, a delightful mixture of modern and classical design. My favourite tutu, oh darling, had delicate lace embellishments that twirled as the dancers took to the stage, catching the light in the most captivating way.
We saw Swan Lake, an enchanting masterpiece. The contrast between the elegance of the white swan and the sinister power of the black swan was breathtaking. Each step, each graceful movement, resonated with the tragedy of the tale, taking me to a land where love and darkness danced together.
We even snagged tickets for the after-party, a chance to meet the dancers! You wouldn't believe the amount of pink tutus around! Everyone seems to share a love for twirling here! We were mesmerised, sipping champagne as we chatted with the dancers. Harriet had a particular talent for describing her favourite ballerina's dance moves!
This, darling, was a ballet experience like no other! It was more than just a performance. It was an escape into a world of beauty and emotion.
Oh darling, I almost forgot! I got a gorgeous pair of shoes! I bought them for a ridiculously reasonable price. You know, sometimes you find things that just speak to you, and these beautiful velvet pumps just screamed "take me home with you!" They were made from a gorgeous teal blue, and I'll be wearing them on my walks along the river. I will tell you about those walks in a future post.
Now darling, I mustn't bore you with all the details, I need to tell you about our next exciting adventures in Prague! But this week, I shall leave you with this little nugget of wisdom I discovered today – there’s always a story to be told in every twirl, a dream waiting to be danced.
Until next week, darlings!
Keep twirling, Emma

P.S. Did I mention my tutu-filled bag? I found it in a delightful antique shop and, oh, it's just perfect! My tutu bag has all sorts of pockets inside so I can easily store my dance shoes, make up, hairspray and more! Now, my darling, you won’t be seeing me out and about with my bag in this post. That’s because Harriet has the beautiful photos of my Prague adventure. My photo's of my amazing Prague outfits, and the bag, will have to wait. You know what my love for photos is like – we must always get the perfect shots, darlings!
