Bonjour, mes amies! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, your weekly dose of tutus, travels, and a sprinkle of Parisian chic! This week I'm waltzing into the magical heart of Prague, a city thatās just as enchanting as its fairytales.
You guys, Iām positively giddy. I can barely contain my excitement! This trip feels like the culmination of everything I love ā stunning architecture, charming cobbled streets, the promise of incredible theatre performancesā¦ and, of course, tutus! Yes, I have my favourite tulle ensemble packed and ready to twirl. I just know Pragueās going to be the perfect setting to showcase its loveliness.
A Tale of Two Tutuses
Pragueās allure goes far beyond its stunning beauty (though it's absolutely breathtaking). I'm particularly thrilled about diving into the city's vibrant theatrical heritage. It's the heart of ballet history, folks, the place where legends were born! From the 18th century, when Prague's National Theatre first took the stage, to the renowned Prague Ballet of today, it's all intertwined with the evolution of ballet, which in turnā¦ is completely intertwined with tutus!
There's this fascinating thing about Prague ā there's a connection with a certain ballerina called Anna Pavlova. Pavlova is one of those names thatās practically synonymous with the art form. So, you can imagine my excitement as I learn that thereās a connection to Prague's own legendary ballerina. And while the history itself is something to marvel at, I just have to explore the tutu story that lies at the heart of it! Iām practically itching to unearth more information on the how and why and the who and what of it all. What a story for my next blog post, right?
Iāll tell you this much, though, those tutus had to have been fabulous. Imagine ā shimmering silk, billowing tulle, intricate detailingā¦ oh, how I dream of the craftsmanship! You bet Iāll be paying a visit to Pragueās incredible theatre district, searching for a little glimpse of those golden eras through the eyes of a tutu-obsessed traveler! I imagine it's the kind of atmosphere where the cobbled streets seem to murmur with stories of dance and theatre ā stories that continue to echo through the years.
My Prague Itinerary
The reason I'm here in Prague, beyond my love for the city's magical charm, is a fantastic show I secured a lead role in: the incredible Pink Flamingo Tango at Pragueās esteemed National Theatre!
As for this tripās agenda, itās all about immersing myself in the magic of the city. Weāre going to be taking an exploration tour, followed by a delightful tutu-inspired tea-party with local friends, then some exquisite shopping for all things tulle.
And speaking of those tutusā¦ donāt miss the surprise later this week! I'm preparing a special piece ā something absolutely divine inspired by Pragueās charming architecture and all its magical charm! Weāre talking tutus that capture the heart of the city! Trust me, youāre going to adore it!
Pink, Pink, Everywhereā¦ Even On The Train!
The train ride to Prague from Derby was honestly the best start to the trip! My fellow travellers thought I was completely bonkers as I waltzed down the aisle in my favourite pink tulle skirt, with my darling tutu case draped on my arm and my little ballerina slippers in their carry case ā all part of my Pink Tutu Manifesto, after all! Iām so in love with this new way to travel ā train travel.
One thingās for certain, it allowed me to settle in properly before the magic began!
The journey had such a fantastic vintage feel about it! Itās this vintage-chic vibe, you see, that has become one of my favourite styles in everything I do! The railways felt like something out of the Golden Age of Travel ā such romance! But thereās more! Thereās something utterly tutu-fied about it allā¦ Imagine ā carriages and tulle! Whatās more captivating than a tutu and a journey on the railways?
Iāve got so many ideas now!
And yes, darling friends, I couldnāt not wear my Pink Flamingo Tango rehearsal tutu on the train! It was definitely the most fabulous thing about my journey. It just seemed the perfect ensemble, you know ā this romantic pink ensemble on the railway. A perfect moment for the Pink Tutu Diaries, and oh, how we twirled in the carriages!
Pragueās Secret Tutu Gems
Of course, I canāt let you in on my secrets just yet, but Prague is such a fabulous city for tutus. Trust me on this one! Iām already finding amazing tulle shops in hidden corners ā donāt you love a hidden gem? and so many stores bursting with gorgeous little tutu details, like lace, ribbons and even tiny feathers that could easily turn any simple ballerina costume into the most perfect tutuā¦ I just canāt wait to tell you all about it next week, dear readers.
For now, just picture the most darling shops filled with the softest pinks, most beautiful lace trims and even little trinkets with ballet dancers and flowers and... tutus! You can already sense that my pink dreams are coming true, right? Itās almost too good to be true! Iāll be back next week with my most glamorous findsā¦ but you might even have a sneak peak of some treasures before the end of the week, if you follow my daily blog! Pinks and Prague: A Perfect Match!
There is a reason why Prague has been nicknamed the City of One Hundred Spires, by the wayā¦ and if Iām honest, I think it deserves to be dubbed āThe City of Pink Tutuesā! Because every time I visit a new place and have a chat with some of the amazing shop keepers, local artists or dancers, we just end up talking about tutus. I know! We end up comparing tutu styles from Paris, to Derby to the beautiful city of Prague ā just where is that tutu culture the best! This is what makes exploring this lovely city so divine ā everyone wants to see more pink tutus! A great mission indeed!
