Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Christmas Magic! (Blog Post #1229)

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, back from a magical trip to Prague. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly blog post – this week, it’s a little late because I got a little carried away exploring this fairytale city. Let's just say, I was totally smitten!

As always, my adventures are funded by my dance performances – last week I twirled my way through a charity fundraiser for the Derbyshire Dance Company. They were so impressed with my dazzling, fluffy pink tutu (it is the most perfect shade of pink, isn't it? wink) that I felt truly proud! And I had enough funds to book my trip to the City of a Hundred Spires!

Speaking of "spires", Prague is just breathtaking. You step off the train and it's like being transported into a fairytale! The cobbled streets are full of colourful houses, grand cathedrals and charming squares, all bathed in a warm, festive glow – because you know what? I was lucky enough to visit over the Christmas period, and there’s just something so magical about Prague at Christmastime.

From Tutus to Travel:

But enough about the scenery! What does this pink-tutu-loving girl like to do more than anything else? Travel, obviously! I love hopping on a train, finding a good book, and watching the scenery fly past. Luckily for me, Prague is easy to reach from Derbyshire – it was just a short train journey with my fluffy pink luggage bag (naturally!) I got to gaze out of the window, dreaming of all the tutus and twirls awaiting me in Prague.

I was lucky to find a horse-drawn carriage waiting at the station, and yes, of course I rode in style. This time, I brought my little sparkly unicorn hat for a touch of whimsical magic. What can I say, it just makes travel even more enchanting!

Christmas Market Enchantment:

Once I arrived in my hotel – a quaint, beautiful boutique hotel with a sparkly Christmas tree – I changed into my new Prague-themed tutu. You'll have to forgive my lack of photos; it’s simply too difficult to take selfies in this outfit without getting tangled in the tulle! Trust me, it's magnificent! It's black velvet with intricate embroidery inspired by the astronomical clock in Prague's Old Town Square.

Then it was straight to the Christmas Market! I had to see the glorious decorations – oh, and I found a delicious cinnamon gingerbread heart. I ate it so fast, I’m afraid I only managed to snag a blurry photo before it was gone. But hey, sometimes things are just too good to wait to photograph.

The Christmas Market is like stepping into a Christmas carol. The smell of roasted almonds, spiced wine and sizzling sausages – pure festive bliss! But best of all are the handmade trinkets, the sparkling decorations, and the cozy little stalls. I picked up a beautiful pink crystal ornament – of course, the perfect shade of pink! – and a handmade doll wearing the cutest little pink tutu! I plan to keep the doll for my collection – maybe she'll get a spot on my website!

Ballet Dreams in Prague:

One of my main reasons for coming to Prague was to experience their incredible ballet scene! So naturally, I couldn’t miss the annual Christmas Ballet performance at the National Theatre.

And what a show! The dancers were exquisite. The ballerinas twirled with such grace and precision – you could hear a pin drop in the audience. My heart just fluttered with every graceful pirouette.

The story was a beautiful Christmas fable – something about a sugar plum fairy and a prince falling in love. And you guessed it – they both wore tutus! I had a little fan in my handbag to fan myself whenever I felt overwhelmed by the sheer brilliance of it all. Of course, I was so busy gazing in awe that I completely forgot to take photos, but let me tell you, it was magnificent!

Speaking of tutus, it was hard to choose which tutu to wear. In the end, I settled on a gorgeous rose gold tutu adorned with glittering silver sequins. I felt like I had stepped out of a storybook!

Exploring Prague’s Charms:

Of course, the ballet was just one part of my Prague adventure. I explored every cobblestone street and charming square. From the Charles Bridge (a magnificent medieval marvel), with its row of iconic statues, to Prague Castle, the city just oozes history and romance.

I took a boat trip on the Vltava river. As I glided along, I felt a twirl coming on, but I thought better of it, it seemed a tad undignified with all those curious tourists around. I can't deny, I felt like I'd stepped right out of my favourite classic fairytale!

Speaking of fairytales, the National Theatre was spectacular! I even found a vintage ballet program from the early 1900s on sale near the theatre. Just look at these fabulous ballerinas – such gorgeous tutus! Oh, to be transported back in time to experience the golden age of ballet.

Tutu Shopping in Prague:

No trip is complete without some shopping! So, I did what any self-respecting ballerina would do: I searched Prague high and low for tutus!

Now, I’ll be honest. It wasn’t easy! But, after days of scouring the city's hidden corners, I found this stunning boutique that specialises in dancewear. And, of course, they had a section dedicated to tutus – my heart did a little pirouette right there in the store!

I came out with three amazing new additions to my collection. A shimmery sapphire blue tutu, a fiery crimson number, and a truly breathtaking lavender tutu. It just goes to show that sometimes, the best discoveries happen when you least expect them!

The Power of the Pink Tutu:

My last day in Prague involved one last dance. A street performance for the tourists gathered in Old Town Square. I wanted to leave everyone with a little bit of pink tutu magic, so I performed a little routine, complete with a pirouette and a dramatic grand jeté – they were all cheering and clapping. It felt incredible to spread joy and laughter through dance.

The power of the pink tutu never ceases to amaze me!

As my journey comes to a close, I realise that Prague is more than just a fairytale city. It's a place that encourages dreams, sparks creativity, and reminds us to live in the moment. The architecture, the music, the vibrant culture, and the delicious food – it all contributed to this unforgettable trip. And, as always, my adventures are about more than just travelling; it’s about exploring, connecting, and finding inspiration, always in my trusty pink tutu, of course!

Until next time, my darlings. I hope you're all dancing through life in your own unique way!

With a twirl and a smile,

Emma
