Pink Tutu Prague: Ballet Bliss in the City of a Hundred Spires!
Post number 1228 | Wednesday 19th December 2018
Bonjour, darlings! It's Emma here, fresh off the train from the magical city of Prague, and I am just bursting to tell you all about my absolutely divine time here. This week, we're diving into a world of graceful swans, captivating princes, and…wait for it… pink tutus!
Yes, you read that right. My latest adventure in the name of ballet (and, let's face it, pink) has brought me to the heart of Czech Republic, and let me tell you, Prague was utterly delightful! The cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, the quaint cafes, the charming boutiques... I could spend weeks just strolling through it all!
This trip, like many others, is fueled by my passion for performance. After all, what better way to fund my wanderlust than with the artistry I love? As you know, my life is dedicated to the joy of ballet - from practicing at the barre to experiencing the magic of live performance.
And oh, the performances! The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. It's no secret that Derbyshire is home to a thriving arts scene, but London has been particularly exciting, with everything from the breathtaking Royal Ballet production of Swan Lake to the quirky, avant-garde stylings of a contemporary ballet company called "Urban Fusion". And then there was my debut at the newly renovated Victorian Theatre in my hometown... but more on that another time, darlings!
Pink Perfection in Prague
Of course, the highlight of my Prague escapade had to be a ballet performance. I was lucky enough to see a performance of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake at the exquisite National Theatre. The theatre itself is a sight to behold - a majestic architectural masterpiece dripping in elegance and grandeur, perfectly in tune with the romance and drama of the ballet. I actually squealed with delight when I stepped inside!
The performance itself was a masterpiece, and the corps de ballet were truly spectacular. Their fluid movements were so captivating that I found myself swept away into the world of the story, cheering on the heroine and practically weeping for the tragic end! It's impossible to resist the power of Tchaikovsky's music and the grace and elegance of classical ballet.
The Importance of a Good Tutu
Speaking of the corps de ballet... Did you know that a tutu has a whole lot of history? From its humble beginnings in 1839 (a rather unglamorous design) to the intricate creations we know and love today, the tutu has evolved with ballet itself. I mean, just think about it – what would a ballet be without the perfect tulle, the delicate draping, the romantic puff!
While the story of ballet is undeniably captivating, there's nothing like seeing the tutus in person! For me, the best part of Prague's ballet was actually exploring the theatre's collection of costumes – all perfectly preserved behind glass.
Imagine my joy when I found a beautifully preserved pink tutu! A blush of a pink, to be precise, it just took my breath away. It's safe to say, that little number found a special place in my heart (and Instagram feed!).
Pink-Inspired Fashion Finds
Prague is a treasure trove for all things fashion! It was difficult to resist the allure of the city's vintage shops and chic boutiques.
I confess, I found myself indulging in some serious retail therapy, picking up some utterly darling pink items. Let's just say my suitcase is bursting at the seams, full of everything from delicate lace tops to elegant beaded clutch bags and even a sparkly pink beret! You see, a little bit of pink never hurts, especially in a city as sophisticated as Prague.
Food and Travel Bliss
The best part of travelling is discovering new food and culture! The Czech cuisine was an absolute revelation – think hearty dumplings, creamy sauces, and decadent desserts!
I was lucky enough to snag a table at the beautiful Café Savoy, and the decadent "Schwarzwald" (Black Forest) cake I indulged in was practically a dream come true. (Oh, the whipped cream!). A big slice of Prague, quite literally!
And then there was the pony ride! My first! And where better to take my maiden journey on horseback than through the beautiful Prague countryside. We rode through forests, fields, and even saw the iconic Charles Bridge. Let's just say my new equine friend, a gentle gelding named "Pinky" (after me, of course!), charmed me completely.
Embracing the Pink Life
As I reflect on my Prague adventures, I can't help but feel deeply grateful for this life, filled with ballet, fashion, and travel. It's all about embracing the pink and beautiful things in life - the elegance, the grace, the magic.
My dream is to inspire everyone to embrace the pink life, even if it means wearing a pink tutu! Just remember, darling, if you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Stay tuned next Wednesday for more adventures in pink - my London adventures continue next week!
Love, Emma xx
