Prague in Pink, Post #1244: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! š©°ššØšæ
Hello my dearest tutu-loving friends! Itās Wednesday, and that means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, Iāve flown all the way to Prague, the breathtakingly beautiful capital of the Czech Republic, and I'm already smitten with this fairytale city.
But first, let me tell you how I got here! After another successful ballet performance in the Derbyshire countryside ā I swear, thereās nothing more satisfying than the sound of thunderous applause and knowing Iāve transported an audience to a magical realm ā I was all set for some exciting travel!
As a ballerina, I adore all modes of transport, especially trains. Theyāre like moving ballet stages, offering me time to stretch, twirl, and dream about my next performance. Plus, a good train journey always inspires some brilliant outfit choices! This time, I'm wearing a vintage Parisian chic outfit ā a floaty powder pink floral dress paired with my favourite pair of blush-toned, rose-embellished ballet flats. For an extra touch of pink magic, my travel companion is a fluffy little pony named Bubbles, decked out in a matching pink ribbon. You know, I just canāt resist a dash of pink!
And speaking of pink, Prague is a feast for the eyes! Cobbled streets, gothic spires reaching towards the sky, vibrant pastel-hued buildings, andā¦ you guessed itā¦ an abundance of stunning pink shops! Iāve already been on a whirlwind shopping spree and added a dreamy rose-printed satin blouse and a pair of delicate pink pearl earrings to my wardrobe. It's always worth the detour to add some flair to the Pink Tutu collection!
But before I divulge into the city's fashion treasures, let me take you on a quick trip through its rich history. This city whispers stories of emperors, queens, andā¦ drum roll pleaseā¦ ballerinas! You know I can't resist a good ballet connection. Prague has a history as deep as the stories I've dreamt up during my performance rehearsals. Back in the 18th century, Empress Maria Theresa brought ballet to the city and made the arts flourish, leaving a lasting legacy for future dancers.
The first ballet school, āTaneÄnĆ Å kolaā ā I love the way that sounds, so elegant and dramatic! - was founded in Prague in 1782, and just imagine those elegant ballerinas with their tutus swirling in those beautiful halls! Of course, I couldnāt resist the opportunity to step back in time at the National Theatre, the pride of Prague, where the dance world comes alive. You simply must visit! And you can even get a taste of ballet magic at the Å vandovo Theatre, dedicated to music and theatre - although thereās no tutu for this occasion! Just be prepared for a whirlwind of emotions!
Speaking of emotions, letās talk about what brings me to Prague in the first place! The Pink Tutu mission, of course! Yes, Iām here to experience Prague's incredible ballet scene, and guess what? It's packed with stunning performances!
On the 10th of April, the Prague National Theatre presents a grand gala - 'Night at the Ballet'. Imagine this: The grandest theatre in the city, breathtaking music and a world-class ballet ensemble performing under a dazzling chandelier. It's a dream come true for any tutu-loving heart! Iāve already purchased my tickets and my heart is aflutter with anticipation. Itās not just the spectacle ā it's the joy of witnessing these talented artists breathe life into stories through movement, artistry, and music. Itās truly a symphony of emotions.
Of course, a Pink Tutu trip isn't complete without the āen pointeā experience!
In Prague, there are several ballet schools waiting to welcome any ballerinas (and budding ones) seeking a class or two! While I don't plan on taking a formal class, the chance to peek into the world of the studios, watch a class in progress and immerse myself in the atmosphere is absolutely delightful! I just might need to find some time to twirl a little bit in the lobby - in the ultimate Pink Tutu way!
And because we canāt just talk about dance, we need to talk fashion! My dear friends, Prague has some of the most gorgeous shops! Imagine streets filled with vintage clothing stores, each one like a secret ballet wardrobe from a forgotten time, ready to reveal their stories!
And thatās exactly what happened to me, a few days ago, in the heart of Old Town Square. As I twirled around a corner, I was enchanted by the colours and the sheer beauty of an old antique store - letās just call it The Secret Tutu Boutique. You can find all sorts of pastel gems and some gorgeous silk scarves in stunning colours.
Now, I've only just touched upon the treasures this beautiful city has to offer.
Over the next few weeks, Iām going to continue exploring its magical streets. I will be reporting on everything from its incredible street art to hidden vintage boutiques, its fabulous dance venues, and more!
And, of course, there will be plenty of pictures. Donāt forget to join the Pink Tutu revolution by wearing your own pink tutu, and tagging your pictures with #PinkTutuPrague for a chance to be featured in my next blog post! I canāt wait to see you all joining in on the fun!
Until next Wednesday, when I return with more adventures from the magical city of Prague! Stay tutu-ful and remember: Never stop dreaming pink!
Much love,
Emma
