Prague's Pink Promise: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! (Post #1253)

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma, back from another whirlwind adventure! This week, I'm waltzing straight from the cobbled streets of Prague, a city bursting with baroque beauty and charming cafes that whisper secrets of centuries past.

Now, if you've been following my travels for a while, you know I'm absolutely bonkers for tutus – and Prague, darling, did not disappoint! It's like stepping into a fairytale, all gilded rooftops and whispering fountains. You practically expect to see a graceful ballerina twirling past on a moonlit balcony. But hold on! We'll get to the ballet delights a little later…

My journey to Prague was truly a dream! As you know, I have a penchant for trains, and chugging through the picturesque Czech countryside, with the sun warming my face and a cuppa warming my insides, was pure bliss. Oh, and let’s not forget the pony rides through poppy fields. This trip definitely had all the right ingredients for a fairy tale… well, until we had to stop for repairs. Luckily, a friendly Czech family invited us to their farm for some traditional roast pork and a glimpse of their delightful pet pig. Turns out, even in the Czech countryside, everyone loves a good pink tutu!

Speaking of Prague's enchantment, I had to start my shopping spree in the Old Town Square, the heart of this vibrant city. My love for pink knows no bounds, and I swear the city itself seemed to whisper, "Emma, you must have this blush-coloured, vintage beaded handbag." (It's true, the vintage shop owners actually looked like they might start weeping at the sheer beauty of this handbag - it’s simply divine, with a chain so long you could wear it across the dance floor like a sash).

Then, oh, my darlings, we entered a hidden little alleyway tucked away between ancient stone buildings, where we stumbled upon a wonderland of lace and ribbons, with more gorgeous pink fabrics than I could ever imagine! Honestly, it was like I was standing on a set for "The Nutcracker." Imagine my delight when I discovered a magnificent ball gown, perfect for a fairytale evening on the Charles Bridge. Honestly, I can practically see the fairy lights dancing in the breeze!

Of course, my heart belongs to the ballet world. I’m not exaggerating when I say I've dreamed of visiting Prague’s National Theatre for years. On Wednesday evening, my heart literally skipped a beat when we stepped inside the majestic building, built in the 19th century. The acoustics in this venue are incredible; it’s like the music dances around you and whispers sweet secrets in your ear. The show was a tour-de-force.

Now, my darlings, remember I said I loved tutu history? This National Theatre actually has an enchanting story about its original opening in 1881, and the importance of tutus for a young ballerina – imagine that! A charming, yet mischievous, prince wanted to add a grand tutu performance in this historic opera. Sadly, the emperor disagreed! But the prince was relentless. In fact, the legend says the prince got the princess to wear a grand tutu onstage! I guess I'll just have to find out about it for myself and tell you all about it next week, but I already have visions of my own “grand tutu performance" taking place in Prague next year...

Of course, after the performance, a little dance class was the perfect end to a magical day in Prague! Even in the Czech capital, they love a bit of tutuing, which makes my heart sing! The classes in Prague were filled with locals who are incredibly passionate about the graceful art of ballet – something you've already read about from my experiences in London, right?! We laughed, we twirled, we stretched, and most importantly, we realised the joy of dance knows no borders!

Prague, darling, you are simply irresistible! It's clear you have a love affair with the beautiful and whimsical; and who doesn't?! And oh, the way the light dances across the river and reflects upon those pastel-coloured buildings is pure poetry, I swear!

Now, back to the mission – to spread the pink tutu love! This week, it’s my new little pink Prague shopping bag which is going to bring my whole wardrobe together, just like a conductor bringing together an orchestra. What can I say? I really think I've been blessed with a very unique gift.

Prague, thank you for showing me the joy of ballet in a setting that takes my breath away! I leave you with a final whisper, a promise that I’ll return soon, darling. Until next time, be bold, be brave, and most importantly, always wear pink! (and even more importantly, try on a pink tutu – trust me!)

With love, always,

Emma
