Prague in Pink: A Tutu-filled Adventure!

Post #1261 | Wednesday 7th August 2019

Bonjour, mon cheries! It’s Emma here, reporting live from the utterly enchanting city of Prague. I’m bubbling with excitement to share my latest escapade – a whirlwind week exploring this breathtaking city, with my trusty pink tutu, naturally, always in tow. This week, I’ve discovered fairytale architecture, delved into the rich history of Czech ballet, and of course, indulged in the glorious shopping Prague has to offer!

This journey began, as so many of my adventures do, on the back of a beautiful horse! This time, however, instead of galloping through the Peak District hills back in my Derbyshire home, I found myself riding in a stunning horse-drawn carriage. It’s incredible to think that this beautiful city is a UNESCO World Heritage site – cobbled streets, colourful buildings, and an almost storybook charm – Prague is like a dream come true!

A Ballet-Lover's Paradise

Prague is, dare I say, a ballet lover’s paradise. You're literally spoiled for choice! The Prague National Theatre has been a source of inspiration and incredible performances since the 1880s, and this week I had the honour of watching the world-renowned Prague Ballet performing a piece by the legendary Tchaikovsky. I’ve always adored the ballet “Swan Lake”, but there was something truly magical about seeing it performed in this historic theatre. I could almost feel the ghosts of dancers past gliding gracefully across the stage.

And for those of you, my dears, who think tutus are only for stage performances, you are truly missing out! Let me tell you, walking through Prague in my signature pink tutu, I felt like a princess exploring a fairytale world. Everywhere I went, I received curious stares and charming smiles – the city is clearly embracing its whimsical side, and I felt right at home!

Tutus & Travels: Fashion Fun in Prague

I'm not going to lie, one of the biggest thrills of visiting a new city is exploring its fashion scene. Prague is absolutely bursting with charming boutiques – it’s the perfect place to unearth unique treasures, particularly for ballet lovers. My first stop? A delightful little vintage shop tucked away in a cobblestone alley. I discovered the most exquisite vintage tutus, from delicate lace creations to dramatic, feathered showstoppers! You’d never guess what a beautiful turquoise tutu I found there – the colour matched my vintage brooches perfectly! It was practically begging to be added to my collection, so of course, I snapped it up.

And because I adore travelling by train – so much so I always try to include a train journey in each adventure – I had to have a new look for the journey back to London. I found a stunning hat shop full of bold colours and textures and snagged a beautiful bright blue straw hat, just perfect for those long train journeys!

Exploring Prague with a Tutu:

Beyond the stage, Prague is a visual feast for the senses! This week, I spent hours strolling through the city's iconic squares, admiring the architectural wonders and, of course, photo-oping with the famous Astronomical Clock. Don’t worry, I ensured my tutu made a statement in each photograph. I think this might just be my most Instagram-worthy trip yet!

Oh, and my dears, you can’t leave Prague without experiencing its unique cafe culture! The bohemian charm of this city is simply intoxicating. I was lucky enough to have afternoon tea at a cafe tucked away in the heart of the Old Town Square. With the sun pouring through the stained-glass windows, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and of course, the divine aroma of a selection of homemade cakes, it was truly a quintessential Prague experience!

And here's a little secret for you, my cheries: a few shops on the edge of the square sold tutus! Not just ballet tutus mind you. Tutu skirts! In pink! I simply had to add a couple of them to my collection for a little pop of ballet whimsy!

Prague: A Love Story in Pink

As the sun sets over this magical city, casting a rosy glow over the ancient buildings, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude. My adventures in Prague, like so many of my past trips, were filled with ballet, beautiful clothes, and charming surprises. The vibrant culture, enchanting history, and oh, the endless photo opportunities, make Prague an absolute dream for a tutu-loving fashionista like me!

Of course, no adventure is complete without spreading a little pink tutu magic! This week I met the most wonderful couple on the Charles Bridge, they were getting married and I simply had to ask if they'd consider incorporating a tutu into their wedding photos. Turns out they adored my idea and now they have a very special wedding photo with their favourite ballerina, that’s me! And of course, I added the photo to my instagram story and tagged @pink-tutu for my fabulous readers to admire!

Until next week, cheries! I’ll be back with another dazzling travel blog. Keep dreaming big, always wear your own unique flair, and remember, pink tutus make everything better!

**Stay tuned!

Yours always, Emma**
