Prague: A Ballerina's Paradise (Blog Post #1313)

Bonjour mes amies! Emma here, reporting live from the magical city of Prague, my darling tutu in tow. It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a new blog post and let me tell you, this week's been a whirl, just like a pirouette on pointe!

This trip was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment adventure, you see. I’d just finished a breathtaking performance with the Derbyshire Ballet Company in Matlock, our swans' costumes were divine – a symphony of white! And the applause... well, I almost lost my footing! But that night, I felt the call of adventure. I saw Prague shimmering on the horizon of my imagination and knew I had to go!

Thankfully, my dear friend Amelia – who always says, "Don’t be afraid to dream, darling, even if your dreams are covered in tulle" - managed to get me a last-minute ticket on the Orient Express. Now, I adore the magic of travelling by train. Especially if you're riding in style, surrounded by the elegance of the past, surrounded by gentlemen with top hats and ladies with parasols. Plus, the compartment was enormous! Perfect for my sparkly dance bag and my fluffy tutu - she even has her own seat. Let's face it, who wouldn't feel like a princess on a train with a tutu for company?

A Fashionable Ballet Bonanza

My darling Tutu and I had to be the most striking duo on the train - everyone gave me knowing nods. Prague itself seemed to be greeting me with open arms, and oh, the shops! They are filled with treasures to enchant the fashion-conscious ballerina!

I simply had to visit the Ballet Boutique Prague which had an exquisite collection of shoes and dancewear! Now I must confess, they don’t quite understand the art of the pink tutu, they had only a smattering of ballet tutus in soft pink shades, I’d need to pick one up for the Pink Tutu Company! I picked up a stunning bright coral tutu and matching shoes. So chic! Amelia, you can have a lilac one, just for you!

My day wasn’t done! We walked through the Old Town Square, surrounded by the colourful buildings and medieval architecture. Then we stepped inside the iconic Powder Tower, with its breathtaking panoramic view of Prague. That was a lovely sight for a tired but happy ballerina like me, but my adventure wasn’t over!

Prague National Theatre: An Evening of Enchantment

As the sun dipped below the horizon, it was time to take in some ballet. I must confess to having fallen a bit in love with Prague. They embrace their ballet culture so effortlessly. You can almost feel the history of ballet in the air, like a swirling pirouette. Tonight was the highlight! I’d secured tickets to see the famed Prague National Theatre’s performance of Giselle.

The theatre is a beautiful, magnificent structure. I’d love to see some of the operas one day. As we walked in, my gaze immediately fell upon the shimmering chandelier – it almost outshone my tulle. But my tutus are tough competition, you know. I settled down in my plush seat, my tutu swishing around me in anticipation of the show.

The performance was mesmerizing. I just love how ballet takes me to another world, a world of emotion, of storytelling through movement. And the costumes were stunning. They gave me so many ideas for future designs, don't you know? There were beautiful long skirts that flowed like waves – they made me think of waves in the Adriatic sea, where I might travel in the future! I even considered adding a couple of silky chiffon strips to the side of my next pink tutu design. I think that’s just what it needs!

Dancing with History

You see, the whole experience was captivating! I simply couldn’t get over the beauty of the theatre, the historical importance of the production of Giselle ( the first ballet I ever saw in London with my Mummy!), and the sheer talent on the stage. Prague, you truly are a magical city, a must-see for all my ballerina followers. Oh! I almost forgot! I bought an absolutely stunning pair of Prague Ballet shoes (all hand stitched), for £145 a pair but just worth it, I’d seen a ballet performer in the street wearing them, and the intricate embroidery - absolutely beautiful - such quality. They look absolutely delicious - so decadent, yet so practical. Of course, I’ll wear them with my new coral tutu - just divine!

But for now, it's back to Derbyshire and my comfy, plush bed. I need to practice my "swans" in my tutu as I haven’t been practicing lately, I will be busy with a new Pink Tutu Company production! Next week I’ll be in Liverpool, so I’m keeping my pink tulle on, you can always expect a ballet post and I will be in a pink tutu at the city’s newest ballet shop... more on that later, until then, bonjour!

Don't forget, visit the Pink-Tutu.com website on Wednesday for all the latest ballet happenings, ballet and pink tutu designs, and news of the newest pink tutus and ballet dresses I am selling! And if you happen to see a pink tutu dancing in the street, that's just me! Au revoir, mon chérie! I’m out of here!
