Pink Tutu Prague: A Dance Through the City of Dreams - Blog Post #1318

Wednesday, 9th September 2020

Bonjour, darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the magical city of Prague, all wrapped up in my favourite shade of pink.

This week’s post is all about my trip to the Czech Republic, a land steeped in history, brimming with cobbled streets, and buzzing with a vibrant artistic spirit. This is Prague, the city of dreams, a place where every corner seems to whisper stories of centuries past, and where the romance of the grand, gothic architecture casts a spell over you.

Travel by Train (and Pony, Obviously!)

Of course, the journey itself was a joy! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a dash of old-fashioned elegance, and nothing screams vintage charm more than a leisurely train ride through rolling green countryside. I packed my trusty travel tutu (it's a bright pink, with sparkling sequins - can you even imagine how glamorous the station platform looked?) and settled in for a comfortable journey, with my trusty little pony, Buttercup, trotting alongside on the platform, his mane cascading down his neck like a delicate silken scarf.

Prague: A City of Culture and Dreams

Upon arriving, I was captivated by the charm of Prague. Everywhere you look, history seems to shimmer through the city's fabric. The imposing Prague Castle, a monument to centuries of Bohemian rulers, is a sight that makes your heart skip a beat. I could spend hours strolling through the narrow, cobbled lanes of the Old Town Square, admiring the intricate beauty of the astronomical clock and marvelling at the colourful buildings that surround it.

Ballet: A Dance Through the Ages

Naturally, my first stop had to be the stunning National Theatre, a glorious symbol of Czech cultural heritage. Its imposing facade, echoing the Renaissance spirit of the city, drew me in instantly. And once inside, it was like stepping into a fairytale, with lavishly decorated halls and grand staircases that seemed to echo the history of countless performances.

My heart skipped a beat as I walked into the theatre, mesmerised by the beautiful chandelier cascading down, and the ornate carvings on the walls. The performance I saw that night, "Giselle", was pure magic. The ballet brought the tragic tale of the betrayed love and a yearning for eternal peace to life. The intricate steps and fluid grace of the dancers left me speechless, and the passionate music stirred emotions within me I didn't even know existed. The ballerina dancing the lead role wore a stunning, traditional white tutu, making the most of its timeless simplicity.

Of course, I was enthralled by the historical background of the theatre itself. I delved into the story of its construction and how it became a symbol of national pride. After all, wouldn't a good pink tutu always love to learn about other ballerinas from history? And what better place to be transported back in time than here in Prague?

The Magic of Ballet Street

After the show, I wandered through the city, mesmerized by the enchanting lights and charming cafes. The cobbled streets and picturesque squares whispered stories of the past, and I couldn't help but let my imagination run wild. It felt like I had been swept up into one of the romantic stories I had read about this magical city.

I stumbled upon a hidden street with dancers practising in the shadows, illuminated only by the flickering gaslights. The beauty of their movements against the dark backdrop was mesmerizing. I felt such a powerful sense of connection to these dancers, a sense of camaraderie across cultures and times. As they moved, they spun tales of human experience, passion, and yearning. I watched, captivated, my own little ballet heart filled with inspiration and the sheer joy of being a dancer.

A Fashionable Flurry Through the City

And of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without a bit of shopping, darling! Prague's fashion scene is absolutely divine, brimming with beautiful boutiques and independent designers. I treated myself to a breathtaking pink cashmere sweater (because one can never have enough pink!) and some stylish handmade leather shoes. They’ll look perfect with my ballet flats.

Oh, and did I mention the exquisite Czech crystal? The intricate designs and sparkling colours were simply breathtaking. You'll be seeing a beautiful pink crystal necklace in a few of my Instagram stories this week - stay tuned!

Food for the Soul

Prague is also a haven for foodies, darling. I relished delicious Czech dishes, from the hearty roast pork to the heavenly sweet dumplings. I discovered an adorable little cafe hidden in the heart of the Old Town, a place brimming with charm, where I devoured delectable pastries, sipping on steaming mugs of frothy cappuccino, all whilst listening to classical music, the gentle melodies weaving through the cafe, filling me with a sense of serenity.

The cafe itself was like something out of a dream - it felt almost like a secret hiding place for romantic writers and poets, full of antique trinkets and soft lighting. And did I mention that my new cashmere sweater looked just lovely in this atmospheric cafe?

A Dream Come True

Prague, with its charm, culture, and captivating beauty, left me feeling utterly enchanted. It's a place that whispers its stories to you, inviting you to immerse yourself in its rich heritage, where the cobbled streets echo with centuries of tales and where every corner seems to reveal a new magical moment.

I've already planned a return visit! My next pink tutu adventure in Prague is already underway. Who’s joining me for a dance through the City of Dreams? Stay tuned to the www.pink-tutu.com website for next week’s blog - we’ll be exploring the Bohemian countryside on a pink tutu adventure.

Stay stylish, stay magical, and don’t forget to dream big, darling.

Emma xx
