It's Wednesday, so you know what that means – time for my Prague blog update! You lovely lot might be reading this on a Friday, but I always write these on Wednesday so that I can savour the adventures from the week. It's a bit of a tradition – like tea and biscuits, or, well, you know…pink tutus and ballet!
As you all know, Prague is calling to me like a melody on a windswept night! This beautiful city is overflowing with charming streets, awe-inspiring architecture, and of course, fantastic opportunities to wear my favourite pink tutus! But it's not just about the fashion, though my darling, it's about discovering the city's rich cultural tapestry. This week I was particularly excited to share a new adventure: the magical world of the National Theatre Ballet!
The Dance of the Swan and the Cobblestone
It's all so exciting, and the journey here was absolutely delightful. It's such a treat to be travelling by train again. There’s nothing quite like gazing out of the window, feeling the gentle sway of the carriages as the world zips past in a blur of colourful landscapes and charming little villages.
Reaching Prague by train adds an extra layer of wonder to the whole experience, doesn’t it? You get a sneak peek at the country, it sets the mood perfectly for the grand reveal, the exciting "Ah!" moment as you see the city emerge for the first time. Shopping for Fashion in Prague’s Hidden Treasures
Prague is like a beautiful jewel box of shops, all brimming with treasures waiting to be unearthed! From elegant vintage boutiques overflowing with lace and silk to quirky independent shops filled with unique finds – there's truly something for every taste and style! Of course, my shopping expeditions always have a central theme - what new treasures will enhance my tutu collection? I just adore a pretty tulle skirt! The colours, the layers, the romantic twirl – it’s simply delightful.
I confess, darling, I've found some real gems on my latest shopping adventure. A delicately embellished pink tutu, oh, it’s exquisite! And the prettiest pearl necklace! You must know, when in Prague, it's essential to delve into the captivating hidden lanes to unearth these hidden boutiques. Ah, but this week, it wasn't just shopping that filled my heart with joy. It was ballet, darling! You see, Prague has an amazing National Theatre, and their ballet company is utterly captivating. My week wouldn't be complete without seeing their enchanting performance. And oh, what a performance it was! A beautiful, graceful, swirling kaleidoscope of beauty, perfectly capturing the essence of this enchanting city.

Let me take a moment to dive into a bit of history before I talk more about the show. You see, the history of the ballet world is just as delightful as a pirouette in a perfectly fitting tutu! This incredible art form, rooted in tradition and filled with beautiful stories and elegant movement, is simply captivating. It's so easy to get lost in the history of ballet, to see how each style evolved from the others. For example, there’s Russian ballet, where movements are strong and expressive, then you have the lighter and more delicate French style. Each form speaks to me, darling, and the sheer history behind it is just mind-boggling!
There are countless moments of history in Prague that captivate me too. As a ballerina, the history of tutus and ballet makes me feel like I'm waltzing through time! It's like a whirlwind of beauty and passion.
I simply must make a quick detour here, back to my favourite subject. It’s hard to choose one tutu to wear because I just adore them all! From the classical tutu, so perfect for the grand stages of Vienna or the glittering opulence of a London performance, to the tutus inspired by Victorian times with all the ruffles and layers - each and every style evokes a sense of grace, tradition and sheer joy.

The story danced out before us, enchanting every heart with its captivating blend of grace and passion. I’m trying to recall what it was… was it Romeo and Juliet or perhaps something about a cursed prince… I shall leave you in suspense. It wouldn’t be a true pink tutu story if it didn’t have a hint of mystery!

Evenings spent in Prague are never dull, darling! After the enchanting ballet performance, I ventured out into the vibrant night, filled with the warmth of laughter and lively conversation.
