Prague Calling! Tutu Tales from a Pink Princess (Post #1375)
Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! It's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu Prague adventures, straight from the cobbled streets of this utterly enchanting city. Oh, Prague, how you've stolen my heart with your stunning architecture, delicious pastries, and of course, the wonderful ballet scene!
This week has been an absolute whirlwind of tutus, trams, and twinkling lights. I arrived in Prague last Saturday, and you wouldn't believe the journey! I took a train all the way from Derbyshire - a first for me, and it was glorious. A proper vintage carriage, the kind they used in those classic film adaptations of Jane Austen novels, with plush velvet seats and the rhythmic clink of the wheels. And of course, my pink tutu travelled in style too, neatly tucked away in a suitcase like a ballerina's secret treasure.
Prague is like a dream come true for any tutu-loving soul. The colours here are simply magnificent, with cobbled streets echoing the shimmering pink of my favourite ballerina costume, and the gold of the spires blending seamlessly with my very own glittering headpiece! Honestly, every corner you turn is a photograph waiting to be taken.
And the shopping! Let's just say my credit card is crying for mercy after a day spent at Na Příkopě Street. It's a shopaholic's paradise - I found the most divine vintage dress, just begging for a ballet spin in the courtyard of a beautiful local café. I even snagged some exquisite pearl earrings to add a touch of Parisian chic to my otherwise pink ensemble. Speaking of which, I am wearing a rather charming pale pink tutu with delicate floral embellishments. It's perfect for wandering through Prague's ancient alleys and admiring the fairytale-like beauty of the Old Town Square.
Oh, the shows here are just divine! You'll have to forgive me for the dramatic flair, but honestly, it's a tutu-twirlingly incredible scene. I've been indulging in Prague's ballet scene from day one - seeing Giselle at the National Theatre with the Prague National Ballet was absolutely unforgettable. The emotion, the drama, the pure elegance of those talented dancers…it took my breath away. The way the costumes flowed as they moved…well, it almost inspired me to start my own ballet academy right here in Prague!
Did you know?
Prague has a long and rich history of ballet, and its National Theatre actually has a fascinating past! I went on a tour of the theatre - it's more than a building, it's a testament to Czech art and culture. This historic gem even has a ballet company with over 250 years of heritage - think of all the beautiful costumes and amazing ballerinas who have graced the stage here.
Now, the real magic happens on Wednesdays! That's when Prague Ballet School opens its doors for a weekly ballet class with the enchanting Mrs. Malá. It's open to everyone, and boy oh boy, have I fallen in love. We spend an hour gracefully learning elegant moves in this charming studio. And best of all, the students are an amazing bunch of local women of all ages, many in their gorgeous everyday outfits! So while I’m in my lovely pink tutu, I am happily sharing the stage with grandmothers in velvet dresses and fashionable students in the latest trends! I even discovered an old pink tutu with an elegant little white bodice that Mrs. Malá was keeping for special occasions. Imagine my delight when she told me I could wear it! It is an absolute masterpiece and I’ve already danced up a storm in the Old Town Square in it!
Every week, this class feels like a celebration of all things beautiful, graceful, and…well, pink! It’s incredible to see how many different styles of dance come together, even in a simple ballet class!
And speaking of ballet styles, one of the most beautiful I've ever seen is Czech folk dance, so I have made a point of heading out to Na Žernovce street and taking a dance lesson in a local bar. A full room of people swaying, twirling and singing together is one of the most uplifting things I’ve seen!
Prague is also filled with incredible sights, and if you are into the more whimsical things, I’ve taken a carriage ride on the lovely Charles Bridge with a lovely white pony! I'll admit, it was a bit more difficult than riding in the elegant black carriage that graced the beautiful grounds of Chatsworth in my home county of Derbyshire - but it definitely was an unforgettable journey across the historic bridge. And just think, the perfect accessory to go with this lovely carriage ride? Why, a bright pink tutu, of course!
To celebrate this beautiful city, and its lovely ballet scene, I have arranged for my ballet company to perform at the Old Town Square! I wanted to give everyone a taste of the joy and beauty that I have experienced here, and you won't believe how many locals showed up in their own tutu interpretations. Some even went all out with bright pink tutus! It is always my wish to share the magic of pink tutus with the world, and what better way than with a special performance right in the heart of Prague!
You have no idea how inspiring the entire city has been - the architecture, the dance scene, the welcoming smiles. Prague is definitely on my list of must-visit destinations for any tutu-wearing princess! But for now, it's back to ballet class. You never know what kind of fabulous outfit I'll wear for my next adventure. Maybe a blush pink ballet dress or a light pink leotard. The possibilities are endless! Stay tuned for more pink-tastic Prague adventures! Until then, keep twirling and dream in pink!
*P.S. * My new pink tutu is a true vision of ballerina loveliness - and it pairs perfectly with this city! So get ready for some serious pink-tastic photos when you head over to www.pink-tutu.com this week!
