Prague-ing my tutu off: A ballet-tastic trip! 🩰💕

Hello darlings! Welcome to Pink-Tutu.com, your weekly dose of pink, pretty, and all things ballet! It's your girl, Emma, and guess what? This week, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague! Yes, that's right - yours truly, the Derbyshire girl, has ventured across Europe to indulge in a whirlwind of ballet, fashion, and cultural delights.

This is my 1385th post and, honestly, I think it might be my most exciting yet! It's not just the city's fairytale charm, or the incredible architecture that takes your breath away. It's also about experiencing Prague's vibrant dance scene - which I have to say, rivals even London's West End!

A Pony-Powered Start

Now, let's rewind a little, shall we? My journey began in a rather unexpected way - I'm talking pony-powered! Yes, my friends, this pink-loving ballerina decided to take a picturesque trip through the countryside before arriving in Prague, thanks to the incredible 'Ride and Rail' tour. Just imagine: cobblestone streets, charming countryside views, and the rhythmic clip-clop of hooves beneath me. It was pure magic! It felt like a ballet sequence in itself. I'll be posting a whole vlog on that later, you'll love it, I know.

Trains, Tutues and Travels

The next stage of my journey saw me gracefully gliding onto a beautiful, red and silver train (it even had plush seats – my style!). The ride was so relaxing and inspiring. I couldn't help but think about all the wonderful ballerinas who travelled by train across Europe during their tours, carrying dreams and aspirations in their little ballet bags. And that's when the idea for a new ballet routine hit me!

Prague's Ballet Gems

Prague greeted me with open arms, a sprawling canvas of charming bridges, gothic spires, and cobblestone streets. After I settled into my elegant little hotel with its balcony view (you know I've got a million photos of that already!), I started exploring the city's dance scene.

The National Theatre, nestled by the Vltava River, is simply breath-taking. A grand, stately building with a magnificent history. You've probably seen pictures of the exterior (and even the interior). The theatre's architecture was the first thing that caught my eye.

Now, Prague is not all about grand ballet. What makes it really special is that there's so much variety on offer. I love exploring little back streets, searching for local studios and off-the-beaten-path shows. That's how I stumbled across Tančíme s Vámi, a truly delightful little dance school in the heart of the city. I signed up for a beginners' class - a fusion of classical ballet and modern dance! Let's just say, I'm absolutely loving it. I even scored a brand new pink leotard in the local market. I have a hunch this place might have more to offer me than meets the eye... You’ll have to see what I mean in next week’s blog.

December 22nd: Ballet in the Heart of Prague

The main reason I chose this week to come to Prague was the ballet season in this fantastic city! And the date was extra special because my beloved National Theatre has a show this very evening, The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic! The music is so heartwarming, it brings a tear to my eye every time. And let’s face it, who doesn’t love Tchaikovsky? I've been counting down the hours until the curtain rises on this iconic tale of sugarplum fairies, mischievous mice, and, of course, the legendary Nutcracker himself. It is just perfect that this is on while I am here. I think it’s safe to say this is definitely a ballet performance for the memory bank!

I've got a whole tutu planned out for the performance: a soft, snowy-white tulle tutu with touches of silver, a light, almost-transparent pink top with silver beading - all finished off with sparkly, silver ballet shoes. Just perfect, and I am so excited!

Shop-Till-You-Drop Prague Style

You know how much I love to shop! Of course, a trip to Prague would not be complete without exploring the city's incredible fashion scene. From designer boutiques to charming vintage shops, the city's unique character has woven its way into my style. You've got to check out the little vintage stores around the Old Town Square; I’ve already picked up a couple of retro ballet tops and a gorgeous lace skirt that is just perfect for my dance class.

A Night on the Town

Speaking of shops, a highlight of my visit so far has been the enchanting evening I spent at the Dancing House. Imagine a modern architectural masterpiece, all curves and flowing lines, pulsating with a unique mix of culture and dance. The Dance Theatre here offers incredible, avant-garde pieces - truly a mind-bending experience! I spent the evening watching a mesmerising piece that was almost like a contemporary ballet mixed with theatrical performance and music. So original and full of expression. I really got a sense of the creativity in the modern Prague dance scene!

And who could resist a chance to have a glass of prosecco and a little bite to eat on the terrace, looking out over Prague with a view of Charles Bridge. What a picture perfect ending to my day! I took plenty of pictures of course. And no, my camera was not the only thing that glittered that night. I made sure I was the perfect ballerina in my pink outfit.

Food, glorious food

You know I'm all about the healthy, delicious meals to keep me going through all my dancing adventures, and Prague is just the perfect place to indulge in those fabulous foodie experiences. You can find the freshest produce in the charming markets, where I've been stocking up on yummy fresh fruit and local cheese. For dinner, it's all about delicious Czech cuisine, which I’m just falling in love with. I tried a delicious goulash, and let’s not forget those creamy Czech potato pancakes… absolutely divine.

Sharing the Prague Magic

Of course, I'm capturing all these magical experiences with my camera, snapping photos for the 'Gram, and shooting little videos. I want you, my wonderful pink tutu-loving readers, to be able to enjoy the magic of Prague with me.

And that brings us to the end of another post from Pink-Tutu.com! Stay tuned for my next adventure here in Prague. It's time to take in a ballet show and enjoy those Christmas market smells (I can already hear the carols!).

Remember, you can follow my pink tutu journey on all my socials (just look up PinkTutu on any of your fav platforms!) I can't wait to share more of my Prague adventures with you. Until next week, remember to twirl with joy!

All my love, Emma 💖🩰
