Prague, My Darling, You've Stolen My Heart! (Pink Tutu Prague Blog Post #1394)
Hello, my dears! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the magical city of Prague. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink tutu adventure! And oh, my sweet lovelies, what an adventure it's been!
You see, this past week has been nothing short of fairytale! I've been gliding through cobbled streets, gazing at towering spires, and devouring delicious Czech pastries (with whipped cream, naturally!). And let's not forget the grand, sweeping, breathtaking Ballet Prague performance last night – I could have quite happily stayed in that theatre forever, my heart fluttering with every plié and pirouette!
So, how did I get here, you ask? Well, my dearest darlings, you know my motto: Follow the tutu, wherever it may lead!
My last show in Derbyshire was a smash, with a roaring applause and even a couple of excited little ones running up after to ask if they could try on my pink tutu! (My heart nearly burst, it was so sweet). The earnings from that lovely evening have allowed me to live out my ballet-loving dream this week and jump on a train to Prague! Now, don’t get me wrong, I adore pony rides, they're my favourite form of travel – but even ponies couldn't compete with the sheer magic of speeding across the countryside in a carriage, dreaming of waltzing in the grand opera house in Prague.
Speaking of trains, can we just take a moment to appreciate the absolute beauty of travel by train? The views, the sound of the tracks, the anticipation… it’s so romantic! And don't even get me started on the glamour of packing my pink tutu and travelling suitcase. This journey has been pure sartorial delight, and the pink tutu has been the perfect touch, of course! Every station I pass, a whisper of a waltz seems to follow me, urging me onwards to Prague.
And speaking of waltzing, my darling tutu-lovers! You know my heart beats for ballet. It's in my blood, it's in my soul, it's in every pink tutu I wear!
Prague has an absolute treasure trove of ballet history! I spent hours yesterday wandering through the charming streets of Old Town, tracing the steps of great ballerinas from ages past. You know, my little lovelies, I’ve even been making notes for my next Pink Tutu performance! Perhaps a Czech inspired choreography for next month? Cue dreamy, twirling thought
Of course, my love affair with Prague doesn’t stop with its cultural charm. It's the fashion that really takes my breath away! You know me, my dears, a touch of elegance and a touch of oomph is never out of place. The antique shops here are positively overflowing with sparkling trinkets, and the vintage clothes stores are an absolute delight. I’ve found myself a stunning silk shawl to adorn my pink tutu in the evening, and a beaded purse that twinkles like the Prague skyline. The twinkles are pink, naturally
Speaking of twinkle, my dears, last night, Prague unfolded a true spectacle in front of me. The National Theatre, my lovelies, oh the sheer elegance! Imagine crystal chandeliers cascading down like starlight, ornate gilded frames holding scenes of historical ballet stories, and my beloved ballerina sisters dancing like celestial beings on a stage bathed in soft candlelight. The magic of Prague’s history and beauty had all been poured into the magnificent Ballet Prague!
What did they dance, you ask? Why, my darlings, they transported me straight to the heart of Slavic folk stories and dreams, with The Little Mermaid itself swirling on stage, its tail a shimmering symbol of enchantment and adventure.
But I must admit, I haven't just been watching the ballet magic unfold here. No, darling, I’ve swirled and leaped myself alongside the best of them! *What can I say? A little pink tutu needs to practice! * Prague has several wonderful studios scattered across the city, and I’ve found myself getting quite smitten with one tucked away behind a courtyard filled with charming cafes and fountains.
Oh, darling, can I tell you about it? The windows are all painted with a romantic, faded fresco of dancing figures. I have to admit, it gives the whole experience of dance an otherworldly charm, I mean *Imagine leaping alongside ballet ghosts! *
It was just the place I needed to rediscover myself. I even got a little brave and stepped into the studio for a few private lessons, getting back to the joy of movement after a few busy weeks on the road! And trust me, my dears, you have no idea how rewarding it is to stretch those tutu-clad legs!
Now, darling, before you all jump aboard a train (or maybe even saddle up a pony) and head to Prague to see the magical ballet show, I need to fill you in on something absolutely fantastic!
This city is overflowing with music – think grand symphony halls that hum with excitement and cozy cafes brimming with jazz! Even the shops and markets have a certain rhythm to them, and I've caught myself swaying to the melody of a baker crafting beautiful loaves of bread!
This Saturday night, my loves, you won't believe where I’m heading for some extra magical Prague moments. Coughs dramatically It’s going to be a grand event in the heart of Prague. Imagine sparkling music playing under a sparkling, clear, Prague night At this very moment, I am carefully choosing the most magnificent pink tutu for the occasion, because I do love a show with a certain sense of occasion and you know I do love a pink tutu. But that, my lovelies, is a tale for next week. For now, remember – follow the pink tutu! And, as always, you know the way! Follow www.pink-tutu.com.
