Prague Dreams: Ballet, Bows and Blooming Pink (Blog Post #1395)

Hello, darling! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means – a new pink tutu blog post from your favourite, ahem, extraordinarily fashionable, ballet-loving adventurer! This week, I’m whisked away to the cobbled streets and fairy-tale charm of Prague, and you wouldn’t believe what’s been going on…

First things first: the train journey. I know, I know – what’s a pink tutu gal to do with a mundane journey across Europe? Simple! Turn it into a fashion show, darling. A glorious swirl of silk and tulle, topped off with a dash of pink lipstick and a cheeky grin, was the perfect way to face the continental chugging. (And yes, a secret pony snuck in for a quick photo op, because, why not? 😉 )

Reaching Prague, the city was a masterpiece of colourful architecture, quaint bridges, and deliciously atmospheric streets. The air hummed with a charming energy – I couldn’t wait to immerse myself in the vibrant, bohemian culture.

Speaking of immersion, you bet I dove right into the heart of the Prague ballet scene. After all, a pink tutu adventure isn’t complete without a bit of ballet! My dear, this was no ordinary ballet. This was a ballet extravaganza. A night of grace and grandeur in a historic theatre with every seat adorned with pink and glittering accents. Talk about feeling right at home, darlings! The performance was magical. We saw the classic Swan Lake, with its intricate choreography and exquisite costumes. I even managed to squeeze in a quick chat with the prima ballerina, whose dazzling diamond tiara literally took my breath away! (You’ll be happy to hear it’s pink, naturally).

The day after, I had to find a few outfits to complete the Prague dream, you understand. Shopping for the perfect pink tulle masterpiece is practically a spiritual experience. And Prague did not disappoint! I discovered a tiny shop hidden in a back street, overflowing with vintage fabrics, lace, and delicate flowers. Hours later, I walked out with a glorious heap of pink silks and feathers, ready to create my own, very special, Prague pink tutu. (And, of course, there were a few delightful Bohemian-inspired dresses for a little sightseeing magic!).

I must say, Prague is a haven for vintage clothing and bespoke creations! There’s a charming charm to discovering these hidden gems, breathing new life into timeless styles. The colours, the fabrics, and the craftsmanship are just simply breathtaking.

Now, you know how I am – always fascinated by ballet history. Prague boasts a history of incredible ballerinas, some who even danced here at the National Theatre! Can you imagine?! My friend who’s a ballet historian – we call him “Tutu Trevor” – says these early dancers revolutionised the style of ballet we know today! You just have to be here to appreciate this rich heritage.

After exploring the majestic old city centre, with its Gothic architecture, golden domes and Baroque sculptures, my next stop was Prague's most magical market. Filled with beautiful handcrafts and colourful flowers, I just had to get myself a beautiful crown of fragrant blooms. I felt like a princess! (It's practically mandatory with a pink tutu, don't you think?).

My dear readers, Prague was an absolute delight, overflowing with artistic spirit and whimsical beauty. If you are looking for a city where dreams dance in the air, this is the place to be! It’s got a captivating aura that will make you feel like a ballet princess! So put on your dancing shoes, grab your favourite pink tutu, and hop on that train!

Until next week, when I'll be regaling you with my Parisian adventures, au revoir from a delightfully-pink, very sparkly Emma!

P.S. Remember, dear readers, every single one of you is a shining star! Go forth and sparkle. Don’t be afraid to wear a pink tutu! The world needs more pink tutus, after all. ✨

(And do check out my favourite new piece I made for Prague on my website - it’s a glorious confection of fluffy pink tulle, adorned with tiny silk butterflies – just picture it, darling! bows)
