Prague: Pink Tutu Adventures (Blog Post #1401)
Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, and this week I'm bringing you some seriously sparkly Prague vibes, straight from the heart of the Czech Republic! It's been a dream to visit Prague for years, and let me tell you, this city is even more beautiful in person. Imagine cobbled streets lined with gingerbread houses, graceful bridges over the Vltava river, and an air of history hanging heavy in the air. And it was all mine to explore in my perfectly pink tutu, of course!
*(Let's face it, a ballerina can't just go to Prague without sporting her favourite pink tutu. It's practically a fashion rule!) *
The JourneyYou know me, I always like to make the journey part of the adventure, and this time, I opted for a journey fit for a princess - I travelled to Prague by train. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, rolling green hills dotted with quaint villages. It's funny, trains are often a slower pace, but that gives you time to take it all in, observe, dream and get truly swept away by the world whizzing past. It felt just like one of those old-fashioned fairytale books, where the main character takes a carriage ride through a lush, magical forest. And the journey gave me ample time to practice my pirouettes! I've got to admit, twirling through a train carriage is way more fun than sitting in the sterile confines of a plane. It's truly a ballet-lovers dream journey.
And guess what? I had the most adorable little pony adventure along the way, too!
Yes, I found myself wandering through a meadow just outside Vienna, a city that also deserves a post dedicated to it. The scenery was spectacular. As the sun set, I came across this little pony grazing peacefully. It was almost like it knew I was coming! I couldn't resist, so I gently approached it. With my trusty pink tutu on, I just had to capture the magic of that moment. This little fella even allowed me to mount him. You can find my instagram photos and reels of this pony adventure too! You know I had to capture it, don't you?
Pragueâs Pretty Buildings and Bohemian VibesPrague is known for its picturesque architecture, but the city felt even more beautiful in person. All those intricate details on the buildings just made me want to sketch! Every corner seemed to hold a hidden gem. I especially loved exploring the Old Town Square, a central plaza teeming with life, but even in the hustle and bustle, it had such a fairytale vibe!
*(Of course, I wore my pink tutu - how else would you explore the Czech Republic?) *
Speaking of fairytales, Prague has a unique atmosphere. A blend of medieval charm and a youthful Bohemian vibe. It feels a bit like stepping into a vintage picture postcard or a film by Wes Anderson, itâs definitely a visually charming place. There are all these hidden courtyards, cafes overflowing with colourful flowers and a vibrant art scene - this city is a true artist's paradise.
The Pink Tutu in PragueOf course, no visit to a European city is complete without some fashion exploration, and Prague did not disappoint. You wouldnât believe the amazing vintage stores! And the shops that do stock ballet wear⌠ah, my heart skipped a beat! I was so excited, I felt like a little girl on her first visit to a toy shop! The streets of Prague are bursting with life, with cobblestone streets leading to art studios, bookstores, galleries, and charming boutiques - you really do get a bit swept away in all that unique vintage style, and I couldnât resist getting a couple of lovely vintage tulle skirts to mix up my wardrobe - the tulle looked divine with a hot pink belt, of course.
*(To be fair, it wouldnât really be a Prague adventure without a new tulle addition for the collection!) *
As if the city itself wasn't inspiring enough, I was thrilled to see how well my pink tutu seemed to fit in. It was the perfect way to highlight the city's unique blend of tradition and bohemian charm. I just love how people smiled and waved, happy to see me twirling down the cobbled streets. It's truly magical, sharing the pink tutu magic!
Pragueâs Ballet Scene: âThe NutcrackerâSpeaking of magic, Prague is home to some fantastic ballet performances! It felt pretty amazing to be enjoying a ballet in such a historical setting. This week I caught âThe Nutcrackerâ performed at the iconic State Opera. It was just breathtaking. They took me on a truly whimsical journey with each beautifully choreographed move, and the performance was a true spectacle for all senses - from the enchanting music and elaborate set designs, to the grace of the dancers and the beauty of their costumes! If you love classic ballet with a bit of sparkle and a touch of traditional grandeur, itâs a real treat!
Let me know in the comments section below if youâve seen The Nutcracker and what you think!
Prague by NightNo trip to Prague would be complete without a night-time stroll. The city truly comes alive under the moonlit sky! There's something enchanting about walking over Charles Bridge at dusk, watching the reflections shimmer in the water. Prague is filled with charming cafes, but nothing compares to those cozy wine bars with their fairy lights and delicious Czech wine. (Trust me, they are worth venturing off the tourist trail to discover!)
* I loved wandering down the winding streets, taking in the view of the majestic Prague Castle and its glittering spires in the distance.* There was just a gentle breeze, an air of peace and quiet as I took in the sounds of music in the distance. * It's easy to feel swept away in Prague - I found myself dancing and twirling down the streets with a pink tulle tutu fluttering behind me! * It's true, Prague is definitely the kind of place where you get to indulge in your inner fairytale princess!
A Moment of Ballet HistorySpeaking of magic and fairytales, did you know that thereâs a ballet studio tucked away in the heart of Prague, established back in 1879? Yes! This means itâs been teaching the beautiful art of ballet for over a century and half! Think of all the talented ballerinas that have danced through those studios! This particular studio - Pragueâs Ballet Conservatory â has been credited with shaping the countryâs entire dance legacy! Imagine the history within those walls! Now that is the kind of thing that gives a girl a feeling of âtrue storybook charm.â
### A Note to all the pink tutu dancers
As my journey continues, it's great to connect with the vibrant ballet communities of all these European cities. Prague's dance scene has its own personality. The locals, with their traditional elegance and grace, embody a beautiful âold world charm' â and if you ask me, they truly know how to rock a ballerina outfit! (But donât worry, Iâm still helping them embrace their inner pink tutu lover, of course!) So ladies, go for that pink tulle â and always bring a little bit of sparkle wherever you go!
Prague for everyoneFrom history buffs and fairytale dreamers, to those with a love for ballet and beautiful cities - thereâs a bit of magic for everyone here in Prague. As much as this weekâs adventures have filled me with fairytale dreams, this magical city also gave me a strong sense of empowerment, encouraging me to explore and be fearless. To wear a pink tutu without any reservations â that is, at least, my way of living. *This pink tutu girl is truly embracing the power of fashion to feel brave and confident. What do you say, shall we all embrace a little magic, a little fairytale, a little pink? *
Until next week, keep on dreaming!
Love and Tutu,
Emma
