Prague Dreams in Pink: A Ballet-Filled Adventure (Post #1400)

Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your pink-tutu-clad travel companion, back from the most enchanting trip to Prague! I must confess, Prague truly stole my heart, and I just know it will capture yours, too. I've been yearning to visit this city since, well, ever! There’s something so romantic about it – the cobblestone streets, the fairytale architecture, the whispers of history in every corner… but for me, Prague was all about ballet!

A Journey to Prague… By Train and Pony?!

First things first, let's talk about how I got to Prague – because this is where things get really whimsical. I am an absolute train devotee! There's just something so romantic about the gentle rocking, the clickety-clack on the tracks, the sprawling landscapes, and of course, the stunning scenery of the European countryside. This journey felt like stepping into one of my favourite classic ballet scenes!

However, my journey to Prague began a little differently. Now, this might sound a bit unconventional, but bear with me. I started my journey from Derbyshire, England. The day before I was meant to be at the station, the rain just wouldn't stop! With my train due to depart in the morning, and the prospect of being stranded, a good old-fashioned Derbyshire solution was needed - pony power!

Thankfully, the adorable little pony, named Rosie (she was a fluffy, pink-nosed delight, perfectly in tune with my love of pink!), got me to the train station just in the nick of time. Just think, darling! I took a ride on a pony… to get to a train! It was absolutely perfect, and oh-so-pink-tutu-esque.

Ballet Dreams Take Flight

Arriving in Prague, I was ready to embrace all the ballet this city had to offer! I checked into the most gorgeous little hotel with views of the Charles Bridge. It was just a hop, skip, and a pirouette from the Old Town Square – talk about convenient!

And speaking of pirouettes… My Prague ballet adventures started right away. There's something special about seeing ballet performances in historic theatres. I caught an incredible show at the Stavovské Divadlo, a beautiful rococo building steeped in history. You could practically hear the echoes of ballerinas from centuries past in every pirouette and arabesque.

I also fell head over heels for the Prague National Theatre – a grand and glorious monument to the arts, right by the Vltava River. Honestly, just standing on the cobblestones and taking it all in felt like a scene out of a dream ballet.

But ballet wasn’t just about watching; I just had to take a class! The energy of the Czech National Ballet school was phenomenal. Imagine me, standing amongst talented dancers, gracefully attempting my pliés and relevés. Maybe not perfectly graceful – I did stumble a few times – but I felt the power and magic of ballet course through my very soul.

A Pink-Tutu Shopping Spree in Prague!

Now, no trip would be complete without a bit of retail therapy! I love scouring shops, hunting down hidden treasures, and finding the perfect pieces for my ever-growing tutu collection.

I spent hours meandering through the enchanting streets of the Old Town, marveling at the boutiques showcasing the most beautiful vintage pieces. Oh, the tulle and silk and sequins – my heart was aflutter! Imagine my delight when I discovered a darling little shop dedicated entirely to ballerina supplies! It was a treasure trove of everything a tutu-lover could dream of: from tiny silk flowers to hand-painted pointe shoes to the most fabulous ballet-inspired accessories.

Let me tell you, Prague’s fashion scene was utterly fabulous! There’s just something so effortlessly chic about Prague’s style. It's that perfect blend of old-world elegance and modern edge, with a hint of bohemian flair.

Foodie Adventures

As any avid traveller knows, a trip isn’t complete without trying the local cuisine. I absolutely fell in love with Czech food, especially their delectable pastry treats. They have these glorious glazed donuts called ‘Skopova Pecen’, with the fluffiest, lightest dough, and they come in every flavour imaginable – cinnamon, almond, apricot – you name it, Prague’s got it! I savoured every bite with my afternoon coffee, taking in the charming cafes and the buzzing atmosphere around me.

A Farewell to Prague

All too soon, it was time to say goodbye to this magical city. As I boarded my train, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. But leaving also left me with a longing for my next adventure – perhaps Budapest, or maybe Vienna, or even Berlin! Who knows where my pink tutu and I will land next?

So, my dear ballet-loving friends, that’s my Prague story! I truly believe that this beautiful city should be on every ballet lover’s bucket list! With its elegant atmosphere, historic ballet traditions, and stunning fashion scene, it truly stole my heart, and I have no doubt it will captivate yours, too!

I leave you with this thought, darlings – go out there, explore, dance, and find your own adventures. And remember: wear pink!

XOXO,

Emma
