From Derbyshire to Prague: The Pink Tutu Train Journey
Remember that adorable horse-drawn carriage I rode in for my last ballet performance at the Derby Theatre? Well, darling, I decided to amp up the whimsical travel this time and opted for a delightful journey by train. From the comfort of a plush first-class carriage, I spent a luxurious, if somewhat chaotic (due to the abundance of coffee and cake), journey watching the countryside melt into a delightful array of hues, reminding me of my favourite pink tutu designs. I could almost smell the sweetness of the meadow flowers wafting in through the windows, each bloom a tiny pink tutued ballerina dancing in the breeze!
Prague, You Are So Lovely
Now, let me tell you, my sweet darlings, Prague was waiting for me with open arms and, well, the most exquisite architecture. Think gothic cathedrals with intricate gargoyles that reminded me of my favourite tutu patterns and baroque palaces dripping in a luxurious and opulent manner. It was a veritable dream, all shades of pink, cream and gold - absolutely enchanting.
The second my tiny pink tutu-adorned feet touched Czech ground, the most delicate aroma of gingerbread, vanilla and cherry blossomed in the air. The enchanting scent followed me as I waltzed through the old town square, where the iconic astronomical clock with its intricate astrological symbols (that reminded me of the choreography for Swan Lake) put on a dazzling display. The city pulsated with an energy that was a beautiful combination of both old-world charm and modern excitement.
Ballet, Couture & a Feast for the Senses
Every adventure demands a touch of ballet, and Prague, my darlings, has certainly not disappointed. A week in the Czech Republic is not complete without a dose of classical elegance. I snagged tickets to the Prague State Opera's mesmerizing performance of Swan Lake, and oh, it was sheer perfection. A breathtaking spectacle, it truly transported me to the elegant swan lake with the grace and elegance of the dancers taking my breath away. Even their tulle skirts evoked a romantic swish of tutus, inspiring my imagination to conjure up dreamy choreography and dance sequences.
Where Elegance Meets Enchantment: A Shopping Spree
Prague’s magic also lies in its endless shopping opportunities, offering everything from vintage chic to designer masterpieces. One afternoon I spent indulging in a delectable spree for a little pink indulgence at the "Bohemian Rhapsody" vintage store - you have to experience it, darling! I waltzed away with a hand-knitted cashmere sweater in a soft, blushing pink and a magnificent vintage silk scarf adorned with delicate floral motifs, that looked just like a dancer's graceful movements. They will be absolutely perfect for my next ballet performance.
Fashion, Prague and a Twist of Pink
Oh, my dear lovelies, fashion in Prague, is such a beautiful blend of elegance and whimsy, offering a fabulous mix of sophisticated boutiques, vintage gems, and delightful designer markets. It’s a dream come true for any girl who loves tutus, just like me! I fell head over heels with Prague's fashion and fell in love with the city's fashionistas. The women are a whirlwind of beauty and style, donning exquisitely crafted pieces and vintage finds. Even a little old lady selling handmade lace scarves outside the theatre was wearing a sweet pink scarf, reminding me how much a little colour can truly transform any outfit!
I embraced Prague’s delightful energy with my own twist, donning a fluffy pink tutu - of course, it was a signature piece for the evening - while strolling along the charming Charles Bridge.

Of course, any day in Prague that includes the graceful movements of ballet, is a day well spent. A trip to the majestic National Theatre gave me a peek into its artistic side. From the moment I stepped inside this grand, historical structure, it was obvious - it's where ballet legends come to life. Just picture my surprise when I discovered that I wasn't the only one feeling a spark of enchantment. It turns out Prague is deeply intertwined with ballet history, as if woven into the very essence of the city itself! I could even imagine the first ever ballet dancers prancing around this very space, oh so long ago!
A Touch of Prague: My Pink Tutu Pick-Ups
You know, when you visit a new city, darling, the experience isn't just about grand performances and majestic architecture. It's also about little treasures that remind you of those special moments. From Prague, I picked up some incredible, charming gifts, the most cherished being a tiny porcelain ballerina figurine from a delightful little shop nestled within the cobblestone streets of Prague's Old Town. This darling ballerina reminded me of all the wonderful days spent dancing here!
And just imagine the sparkle in my eye when I discovered an artisan creating custom tutus and ballet slippers for all the little girls in town. As you can imagine, this mama went crazy, and bought the most exquisitely pink tulle fabric, hand-painted and sequined - it would be the perfect embellishment to my tutu collection, which already fills a whole closet back in Derbyshire. She told me all about the magic of tulle, how it moves and floats and spins, just like us ballerina fairies! It felt magical, like she'd opened a window to a world where imagination truly soars.
