Prague: A Pink Tutu Paradise! #1417

Bonjour mes chéries, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Prague, my weekly escapades in this magical city. This week has been positively bursting with fabulous finds and stunning shows, and my pink tutu hasn't stopped twirling all week!

As always, this Wednesday I'm back with my Prague blog, sharing all the delights of this incredible city with you. For you see, it's not just about the gorgeous architecture or the delicious Czech pastries, though we'll get to those! It's about the atmosphere, the romance, the spirit of creativity that runs through the cobblestone streets like a pink ballet ribbon.

A Whirlwind Week

Let me tell you, this past week has been a whirlwind. First, it's been my birthday week! And in a delightful turn of events, my dear friend Emilia decided to whisk me away for a magical birthday afternoon at the Pleská Botanická zahrada (Pleská Botanical Gardens) for the afternoon, nestled within Prague's leafy and peaceful Kunratice Forests.

The air was crisp and cool, filled with the scents of lavender and rosemary. A symphony of colours, thanks to the breathtaking blooming wildflowers, made the landscape positively dreamy. Emilia brought along a gorgeous picnic basket packed full of sweet treats, cheese, charcuterie, and refreshing fruit juices – and we just savoured the atmosphere together. She knows me so well - it was the perfect birthday treat, a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. It really reminded me why I love this city so much - there is something for every mood and every day.

The Elegance of Ballet

On Tuesday evening, we hopped on the Number 22 Tram to make our way to Národní divadlo (National Theatre) - and what a spectacular evening! Prague is home to a truly fabulous ballet scene, and tonight's show at the National Theatre, "The Sleeping Beauty," didn't disappoint. Oh my goodness, the dancers, their leaps and turns! The story, the costuming, the beautiful stagecraft - just exquisite.

For any dancer, it's such an honour and privilege to experience ballet live. There's something truly magical about witnessing years of hard work, talent and discipline come to life in that magnificent space. For me, of course, the costume details were divine - the tulle, the silks, the swishing of the dancers' skirts... it truly transported me to a world of enchantment.

Afterwards, we wandered through the labyrinthine Old Town Square, savouring the vibrant streetlights illuminating the medieval architecture. I even managed to snag the most exquisite silk floral hair clip for my birthday from a little artisan's stall!

My Tutu Dreams

My tutu dream, of course, is to encourage everyone to dance in pink. It is a color of joy, optimism and self-expression. Just like Prague, where ancient history meets modern trends, pink and tutu embrace all styles and cultures! Who could resist the charm of twirling in a pastel dream in this magical city? You don't have to be a professional ballerina! Pick out a skirt and tie a pink ribbon around it, add a bow in your hair! It's not just about the tutu itself - it's about how it makes you feel - playful, optimistic, graceful!

This week in Prague, I even spied an elderly lady walking through the city centre with a vibrant pink handbag - that, to me, was a perfect tutu statement! You can find your own way to incorporate pink and twirling into your life in Prague, or anywhere you travel! My motto: Embrace the pink!

Shopping Therapy in the Golden City

We always leave a little time for shopping in Prague. I love the local shops and the treasure trove of beautiful antiques you can find throughout the city. For my birthday, Emilia treated me to a beautiful porcelain ballerina ornament - delicate and delicate, a perfect addition to my pink tutu collection!

Then it was on to the magical Pařížská - the heart of high fashion in Prague. It's a beautiful shopping street lined with stunning shops and boutiques. My eye, of course, caught the Pink Label storefront - an upscale shop with designer shoes and dresses in a wide range of delightful pinks. I picked up a gorgeous chiffon scarf in a blush-pink hue and a little straw hat - just what I needed for summer strolls around the city!

I think the combination of elegance, charm and sophistication in Prague makes it the perfect place to indulge your shopping spirit.

Fashion Tips: Tutu-ly Chic

For the sake of all things pretty and pink, here's a little outfit tip for you - if you happen to be in Prague or elsewhere, think of your outfits in the same way a ballerina prepares for a performance. Add that delicate, playful edge that brings that little touch of whimsy to your attire.

A pale pink lace top paired with a sleek A-line skirt is perfect for a delightful afternoon at the National Gallery or a romantic walk through Petřín Hill.

Pair a classic ballet flat with a chic black blazer and an ivory skirt - that classic silhouette brings sophistication to any outfit, be it for a date or a stylish lunch.

Always finish with a statement piece: A vintage broach or a pink hair ribbon are excellent accent pieces to make your look truly individual and charming! The key, ladies, is to experiment! Don't be afraid to be bold.

A Train Journey To Remember

After our city adventures, we decided to head outside of Prague for a change of pace. The city is conveniently connected by train to surrounding towns. We took a leisurely train journey to Český Krumlov, nestled in the enchanting Bohemian countryside. We traveled in a first class carriage – the plush seating and the expansive window views were a beautiful way to pass through the scenery.

This town boasts its very own medieval castle (still a functioning residence, wow!), a fairytale like charm, a charming little square, and cobblestone lanes brimming with vibrant art galleries and delicious bakeries.

Of course, I was most thrilled by the fact that this town holds a yearly dance festival – my kind of cultural scene! The beautiful medieval architecture and the town's energy perfectly embody that "romance of dance," a sense of movement and beauty.

And the shops - oh, the shops! Every corner presented another discovery - from handmade porcelain teacups to antique books in beautifully bound leather volumes. You could feel the town’s rich history echoing from every stone, but with a very lively and contemporary atmosphere - a perfect blend for my taste! We found a delightful tea room in a charming courtyard that was perfectly romantic! This was truly an afternoon straight out of a fairytale.
