Prague Dreams in Pink, Post 1418: A Tutu-ful Adventure
Bonjour, darlings! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another adventure on the Pink Tutu Blog, where dreams of tulle and tutus come alive! This week, I'm writing to you from the breathtaking city of Prague, a place where cobblestones whisper tales of centuries past and every corner brims with beauty. I've been here a few days now, soaking in the charming atmosphere and enjoying a whole array of tutu-tastic activities. As usual, I'm decked out in my favourite pink tulle number, because what better way to celebrate a city filled with artistry than in a swirling masterpiece of a tutu?
It all started with a whirlwind journey by train, you know I'm a bit of a train aficionado! There's something so romantic about gazing out the window, watching the countryside roll by as the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels blends with the symphony of my own dreams. This time, though, I added a touch of magic – a pony ride! Yep, a pony named Clementine who carried me, quite literally, into the heart of Prague. She even wore a little pink bow for the occasion!
Arriving at my hotel, a grand affair that made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale, I had to do what any self-respecting ballerina does: unpack my dancing shoes! A good stretch in the hotel room was just what I needed to release the knots after the journey, then, of course, I did what any self-respecting pink tutu aficionado would do… went straight to the shop!
Prague is a veritable treasure trove of delightful boutiques, and I wasted no time in embarking on a shopping spree. The city has a distinct vintage charm, and I found myself picking up the most wonderful items, from floral-print scarves and silk gloves to elegant headbands with feathers and bejeweled pins, just perfect for my next performance!
And speaking of performances, Prague's vibrant theatre scene had me on cloud nine. On the 10th of August, I got to witness a mesmerising performance of "Swan Lake" at the magnificent National Theatre. You'd think after all my years dancing I'd be a seasoned pro, but no, the sheer artistry and brilliance of the dancers on that stage had me transfixed. It’s truly magical when a story comes to life in such a captivating way, don’t you think?
Of course, after a glorious performance, there’s nothing more enjoyable than indulging in a sumptuous meal. This city is a feast for the senses, from traditional Czech delicacies like roasted pork and dumplings, to heavenly pastries and local craft beers. Everything here is so flavoursome, a perfect dance on the palate. I've been pairing my meals with a splash of bubbly pink prosecco - always a winner when you want to raise a glass to a fabulous night out!
Now, I know you're wondering: What does a pink tutu-loving ballerina do when she’s not twirling on a stage or indulging in delectable Czech delights? Why, explore Prague's historic streets, of course! This city is steeped in history, from its charming bridges, cobbled alleys and hidden courtyards to the towering Prague Castle with its fairytale grandeur. It's no wonder that this enchanting place has inspired so many artists, musicians, and writers throughout history.
There's nothing I love more than immersing myself in a city's culture, learning its stories, and experiencing its essence. Prague is full of delightful surprises. I found myself lost in the maze-like alleys of the Old Town Square, the sound of music and laughter washing over me like a warm wave. Each step I took, each cobblestone I crossed, led me closer to a new discovery, a new tale whispered by the city.
The history of ballet in Prague is also a fascinating one! Did you know the first professional ballet school in Prague opened way back in the 17th century? There was a strong dance culture throughout history with ballet playing a large role. As I walked through the streets, I envisioned ballerinas waltzing and leaping across cobblestone squares, their tutus fluttering like delicate flowers. It's magical to think of this connection across the centuries, the shared love of dance that unites us all!
But here’s a little secret - while Prague may be full of charm, I confess to secretly missing the lush green fields of my Derbyshire home. You can imagine my excitement when I learned about the breathtaking countryside just outside the city, home to charming villages, picturesque castles, and stunning natural beauty! Oh, how I long to don my tutu and take a pony ride through those rolling hills, feeling the crisp air on my face, the grass beneath my toes, and the sun warm my skin.
So, there you have it, darlings, a glimpse of my dreamy escapade in Prague. Of course, I'll be back to tell you more of my adventures here, each new week filled with discoveries and delightful happenings! Don’t forget to visit my website, www.pink-tutu.com, to join me on this whimsical journey! And remember, darlings, always, always wear pink!
Until next time,
Emma
