Prague - A Tutu-tastic Adventure in the City of a Hundred Spires!
Pink Tutu Blog | Post Number 1425 | Wednesday, 28th September 2022
Hello my darling Tutu-istas! 🩰💖
It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, and I'm writing to you from the heart of Prague! My trip to this enchanting city was a dream come true, filled with swirling cobblestones, magnificent architecture, and of course, breathtaking ballet performances.
I hopped on a train from Derbyshire, England, where the rolling hills were painted in autumnal hues, and arrived in Prague with a suitcase full of fluffy tulle and a heart full of excitement. There's nothing I love more than a grand adventure by train, particularly when I can gaze out of the window at the changing scenery in a full pink tutu. I may not have been wearing it the whole journey - the conductors can be rather strict about such things, don't you know? - but I couldn't resist whipping it out for a photoshoot at every photogenic stop. Let’s face it, if you’re a pink-loving tutu aficionado, you must always make a statement.
Prague’s Architectural Delights
As I strolled through the cobbled streets, I felt a rush of pure joy. Prague is simply stunning - imagine Vienna’s elegance with a dash of Italian romance, all topped off with a hefty dollop of fairytale charm. There are so many architectural treasures tucked around every corner, from the imposing Prague Castle, to the ancient Charles Bridge adorned with its enchanting statues, and the ornate astronomical clock in Old Town Square. Everywhere I looked, it seemed to be straight out of a picture book.
My first day was spent wandering, admiring, and capturing every detail. I took countless pictures – trust me, I wouldn't be doing you justice without documenting the beauty of Prague in my iconic pink tutus. You know I just have to! And honestly, darling, the whole city felt like it had been specially designed for tutu-clad promenading - there were beautiful parks that whispered invitations for pirouettes and charming cobbles that begged to be twirled upon!
A Ballet Enthusiast's Dream
The real highlight of this trip was the incredible ballet performances that awaited me in Prague. My mission? To see every single performance that my heart could desire! It was my chance to truly immerse myself in the artistry and emotion of this magical art form. The National Theatre (and trust me, there’s nothing quite like entering a theatre in a pink tutu! - people look at you with wonderment!) delivered an unforgettable evening of classical ballet, with performances that made my toes tingle and my eyes glisten. It felt like being whisked away to another world, transported by the beauty of the dance, and let me tell you, the sheer beauty of the venue was no less enchanting than the ballet itself! The interior reminded me of a majestic theatre, draped in velvety velvet and gilded with exquisite detail.
There’s something deeply special about the combination of ballet and a historical theatre. The stage felt alive with the dancers’ stories, their graceful movements and powerful expressions echoing through the hallowed walls of the theatre.
Discovering Hidden Treasures: Pink and Tutu Adventures
While ballet was my ultimate goal, there was so much more to see and do. One of the best things about travelling, especially as a dedicated fashionista like myself, is unearthing new shops and brands. You won't believe the treasures I found here! My wanderings led me to charming boutiques bursting with handcrafted goods, artisanal perfumes, and the most exquisite jewellery I’d ever seen - oh, how my inner fashionista rejoiced!
The street vendors selling handcrafted items had so many gorgeous finds and the market square was alive with stalls bursting with flowers, fresh produce, and locally crafted goods. I had the most fantastic time picking out a new headband, handwoven by local artisans, to match one of my new, sparkly, pink tutus. After all, every ballet-lover knows you can never have too many!
One evening I found myself mesmerized by the magical glow of the city as it turned to twilight. It simply stole my heart! Prague seemed to possess a mystical magic. The golden light painted the buildings in breathtaking hues as streetlamps cast shadowy patterns. I felt a powerful sense of tranquility, and the city seemed to whisper stories of ancient times. I made sure to wear a very sparkly, very pink tutu for that one. You can’t wear the sparkly pink one on any other day in my opinion. Pink deserves a day of its own.
And that brings me to the very purpose of this blog - my absolute dedication to sharing the magic of pink and tutus with you. It is a way of life, an expression, a revolution of sparkle, if you will. To inspire every single one of you to embrace your inner ballerina, to spin and twirl, to find joy in every twinkle and to live with a pink tutu by your side!
Fashion Frenzy: The Prague Edition
There's something undeniably exciting about taking your favourite tutu abroad with you. You’re travelling, and there are so many picture-perfect backdrops for those fashion shoots I always talk about. One of the best things about being a ballerina in the heart of a city is finding all the quirky and wonderful vintage shops and hidden treasures. I’m a complete magpie for all things glamorous, particularly in the vintage realm, so every trip has to involve a spot of shopping.
During my trip to Prague, I stumbled across the most delightful shop overflowing with luxurious vintage hats and feathered boas. It was absolutely overflowing with potential tutu accessorizing delights, and my head nearly spun. It’s important to always accessorize and that was where I truly began to feel like the Prague ballerina I had always imagined. And as if by magic, I discovered a stunning, feathery black and white feathered boa that looked simply fabulous against the background of a shimmering, pink tutu. The shop owner looked at me in astonishment when I twirled - she didn't know how to explain the wonder of my vision! She was in awe and I walked away with the perfect feathered boa!
I must tell you, the Prague markets and shops had more inspiration for outfits than you could possibly imagine - think beaded sashes, sequined shrugs, gorgeous statement jewelry - and let’s not forget about the glorious hats - feathers, wide-brimmed, straw, velvet - you name it. You absolutely HAVE to bring a wardrobe with you for each day when you visit. It is, after all, Prague.
Of course, my trip wasn’t just about shops and street performers - though those are undeniably wonderful experiences, wouldn’t you agree? I made a point of discovering the real Prague - the hidden squares, the quaint little cafes and cafes (I could just about live off the cakes! Especially if you get them with a cappuccino!) where people gathered to gossip and the quiet backstreets that unfolded with quiet beauty.
Prague reminded me, yet again, of why travelling is one of the most magical experiences. It’s all about expanding your horizons, getting lost in new cultures and finding yourself surrounded by a new kind of wonder and charm. If there's a better way to find joy and create stories to tell then I've yet to find it!
Until Next Week...
But until next week, darlings, keep dreaming pink and dancing on!
