Prague, My Love! Pink Tutu Diaries #1426
Oh my darlings,
What a glorious week it's been! This little Pink Tutu traveller is in Prague, the city of a thousand spires and, even better, the most delicious pastries I've ever tasted! Honestly, the strudel here is divine, you simply must try it.
As usual, I made my grand arrival via train - the sheer romance of a whistle, chugging, and scenery flying by - makes it the most wonderful way to travel!
I’m actually quite surprised that my horse, Starry Night, wasn’t tempted to follow me. He adores travelling and Prague has all those pretty cobbles which would have appealed to his hooves… oh, and the Czech beer! Who could resist a good, frothy pint? It’s the drink of choice in this lovely country and, even though I’m usually a bubbly gal myself, I’ve had to indulge just a little!
Of course, a trip to Prague would be incomplete without ballet! This city boasts a long and proud tradition of the dance, dating all the way back to the 17th century. And so, this Wednesday I am excitedly heading off to the breathtaking National Theatre - yes, it’s just as grand as it sounds, honey - to see a performance of The Sleeping Beauty. I know, right? A dream come true. It's a ballet that’s dear to my heart, and in this glorious venue? This is the stuff dreams are made of, my loves!
Pink Tutu Style for a Parisian Evening
And what to wear, my darlings, to such an extravagant event? You already know what it’s going to be - pink, naturally.
This week I’ve been inspired by the city’s history and opted for a look that reflects the beauty and decadence of the baroque era. Imagine an elegant yet whimsical silhouette.
A breathtakingly pale pink tulle tutu with layers of ruffled chiffon, reminiscent of the Rococo era’s flowing garments. This will be my centerpiece, naturally, as a good tutu can really pull an outfit together! Then, a silk top - deep crimson, to give that little touch of Victorian gothic. And for footwear? A pair of shimmering rose-gold pumps with a low kitten heel, perfectly complimenting the sparkle of my blush pink gemstone necklace. The perfect touch, don't you think? I love this look so much - it feels timeless, like a ballerina stepping straight out of a classical painting!
My Favourite Prague Finds
My heart is truly happy to be back in Europe and the shops are filled with the most wonderful treasures. I adore searching for unique pieces to complement my tutu wardrobe, and let me tell you, I've had a splendid time here!
In the Old Town Square, I found the cutest little boutique called "The Ballerina’s Closet." Oh my darling, the most delicious, swirling tutus, made from silks and satins in every shade imaginable, plus some absolutely heavenly tulle that felt like it came from a fairytale!
My new obsession? An absolutely adorable little pearl and satin pink ballerina charm - perfect for hanging on my new blush pink velvet bag from another darling shop, "Fashion's Dream." You know, darling, the things I’ll do to indulge my tutu love…
But before my Prague shopping spree sends you spiralling into a frenzy of envy, let's talk ballet!
From Stage to Street: The Dance’s Power
And, speaking of shopping, let’s go for a little walk around the city, shall we? I found a wonderful ballet-themed cafe - The Pirouette - just a hop and skip away from the theatre. It was filled with dancers, ballerinas in training and enthusiastic students like me! And wouldn't you know it? The cafe actually had an impromptu open class session. I simply had to join in, the whole vibe was incredibly inspiring!
Now, imagine my excitement when I spotted a street performer on a corner, a young woman twirling and gliding in the sunshine. What struck me most wasn't the talent – she was amazing – but the joy in her movement. This is the magic of dance, darling. It breaks through the barriers, speaks to your heart in a way words simply can't, and can transform the dullest of street corners into an exciting performance space!
The beauty of ballet is that it transcends cultural barriers and fills the soul with so much beauty and joy! It was incredible to witness, and to think, that’s what I'm working towards with my own ballet! My goal, dear friends, is to inspire others to dance and, why not, embrace the pink tutu! We’re all ballerinas, don't you think? Every one of us has our own dance within us, and my mission is to encourage people to tap into it, own it, and express themselves! Think about it. If ballet can light up Prague's cobble streets, imagine what it can do for the world!
* Prague, Until We Meet Again*
My love for the Czech Republic just keeps growing. This city has enchanted me completely - the architecture, the food, the people, and of course, the dancing. There are so many stories to be told about this incredible place. From historic landmarks like Charles Bridge, with its majestic views, to the artistic wonders tucked away in secret cafes, every corner seems to whisper secrets!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, darling, I’m going to prepare for this evening’s performance. I simply can’t wait to be surrounded by the sheer spectacle of "The Sleeping Beauty."
So, my darling readers, have you seen the show in your city? Share your experiences in the comments, I’d love to hear them. Don't forget to come back next week for more Prague adventures. And until then, wear pink, be bold, dance your heart out, and remember: you’re all a ballerina at heart!
XOXO, Emma
