Prague Calling: Ballet, Beauty & Pink Tutus Galore! (Post #1494)

Hello, my lovely tutu-loving darlings! It's your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma, writing to you from the heart of Prague! I've traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for cobbled streets and charming bridges, and trust me, it's been a whirlwind of culture, ballet, and (of course!) stunning pink tutus.

This week's post is extra special, because I'm about to delve into a whole new world of ballet history. I'm not talking about tutus of old (although those are certainly interesting!), I'm talking about seeing a truly spectacular ballet performance at the National Theatre here in Prague! And I can't wait to share all the glitz, glamour, and graceful movements with you!

But before I spill all the details, let's chat about how I even got here! I’m all about living the fairytale life, and I always prefer to travel in style. This time, I opted for a grand, leisurely journey. You guessed it - I took the train! Yes, a luxurious, scenic train ride through the beautiful countryside – I truly am a creature of comfort, my darlings. And to add an extra touch of magic, I even rode a pony to the train station! It's not everyday you see a pink tutu-wearing ballerina on horseback, but it felt absolutely delightful!

Once I arrived in Prague, the city itself just captivated me. Imagine, stunning architecture that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a romantic novel, bustling marketplaces where you can find beautiful vintage clothes and unique gifts, and the most delectable pastry shops you could ever dream of! Oh, and don’t even get me started on the Czech cuisine! A delectable mix of flavours, hearty portions, and affordable prices - you’ll be spoilt for choice! I've indulged in more delicious food than I care to admit, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Speaking of indulging, shopping is always a crucial part of any adventure, wouldn’t you agree? And Prague definitely does not disappoint when it comes to finding treasures. I found a stunning little vintage clothing boutique in the Old Town, nestled among cobbled alleys and traditional buildings. The owner is the sweetest, most stylish woman I've ever met – and she gave me the most exquisite pink tutu for a steal! Imagine a vibrant shade of bubblegum pink, made from the softest, most delicate tulle you could ever imagine! I couldn’t resist bringing it back home with me, and it’s already my absolute favourite. I know what you’re thinking, another pink tutu for my collection? Absolutely! One can never have too many!

But enough about tutus, and onto the star of the show - the ballet performance! I had the opportunity to attend a captivating performance of "La Bohème" at the National Theatre in Prague, and let me tell you, it was simply breathtaking! From the exquisite costumes, beautifully detailed set designs, and passionate choreography, I was completely swept away into the story! Every movement, every gesture, every breath was pure poetry!

One thing that particularly struck me was the dedication and talent of the dancers. I could truly feel their love for the art form and their desire to express every nuance of the story. Their graceful movements and perfect execution just left me in awe. The ballet’s theme, the beauty of love in its many forms, and the emotional weight of the story, was powerfully depicted. And of course, it had the most romantic music and beautifully designed sets. I'll admit, there were a few moments that had me feeling a bit teary-eyed - that’s how immersive and heartfelt the whole experience was!

I’m definitely inspired! The artistry, the dedication and sheer passion that I saw, gave me so many ideas. This trip has shown me so many fantastic dance venues, inspired new ways to weave a story in ballet, new techniques, and, of course, given me ideas for all my future tutu choices!

Prague truly has something for everyone, especially if you love culture, history, food, fashion, and ballet!

Now, I’m off to a ballet class later this afternoon. Prague’s ballet classes have been an incredible discovery. From traditional training to exciting new forms of contemporary dance, there is something to suit every dancer. I just love finding new and exciting ways to learn!

Speaking of discovering new things, my aim is to get everyone, in every corner of the world, wearing a pink tutu!

Don’t forget to keep up to date with all my travel adventures by following my blog, www.pink-tutu.com, each and every Wednesday. I can't wait to see you all back here next week for my next ballet-filled journey!

Stay glamorous, my darlings!

Lots of love, Emma xoxo
