Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, and this week I'm writing to you from the utterly charming city of Prague! It feels absolutely surreal to be here, surrounded by cobbled streets, magnificent architecture, and of course, a whole new world of ballet to explore!
This week has been a whirlwind of tulle and triumph! I arrived in Prague on Monday, having taken the scenic train route through the Czech countryside. The journey was simply magical, and a brilliant opportunity to enjoy the view - and the endless cups of tea! I'm a sucker for a good train journey. It gives you a chance to slow down and savour the scenery. Plus, the views of the rolling Czech hills were incredible - perfect for a tutu-clad selfie (I'm always ready for a photo op, darling!).
Upon my arrival in Prague, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the city. The Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and the Astronomical Clock - they were even more breathtaking in person. My heart practically skipped a beat when I saw the intricate details of the Prague buildings and those magnificent bridges! Each corner offered a new photo opportunity, a new Insta-worthy moment. Of course, I took full advantage, and you'll find all the glamorous shots on my Instagram!
Speaking of glamorous, let's talk shopping! No trip to Prague would be complete without exploring the incredible vintage shops. I managed to unearth a glorious pink tulle skirt in a shop tucked away down a charming backstreet. I’m dreaming of creating an outfit around this find, so do keep an eye on my Instagram for a future outfit post!
I also treated myself to some delightful Bohemian crystal jewellery – because even my jewellery needs to be as glamorous as I am. The local artisans have incredible talent, and it was such a treat to see their intricate craft first-hand. You’ll be seeing my latest finds on my jewellery collection post coming soon. I’m planning to dedicate an entire post to this fabulous haul, because honestly, it was just so much sparkle to resist.
But this isn't just a fashion trip, my loves! We’re here for the ballet, of course! I made sure I caught a performance of the National Theatre's ballet on Wednesday. Let me tell you, the Prague National Theatre Ballet Company blew me away! Their interpretation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake was just stunning, with exquisite costumes, brilliant lighting, and of course, impeccable dance moves.
It was a full sensory experience – the sheer grandeur of the theatre combined with the brilliance of the performers left me mesmerised. I found myself truly immersed in the tale of Odette and Siegfried. I felt every twirl, every grand jeté, every whisper of romance – the magic of the theatre worked its spell once more.
And what a chance for inspiration, don't you think? I can’t help but draw inspiration from the beauty of this city and its incredible ballet company. You'll be seeing the echoes of Prague in my next routine - I'm thinking something a bit more graceful and flowing! I’m hoping I can take my latest inspiration and use it in my next ballet performance, back in Derbyshire, England. I'm so looking forward to showing my fellow Derbyshire dancers how to get that ‘Prague graceful' feel! It’s amazing what inspiration can come to you in a whirlwind of travel, especially with my beloved pink tutu in tow.
However, Prague has more than just the National Theatre to offer. This city is bursting with cultural delights, from traditional folk music to the ever-popular street performances. I wandered the streets with a smile on my face, soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
I can't go without mentioning the delightful "Ballet Under the Stars" show in Prague's Old Town Square on Thursday. I've never experienced anything quite like it – imagine, a full-fledged ballet production set against the breathtaking backdrop of Prague's ancient buildings and the glittering stars above! It was utterly enchanting, a delightful mix of dance, music, and atmosphere that I'll cherish for a long time to come. I've certainly added ‘ballet under the stars’ to my ‘must-do’ list for any ballet lovers visiting Prague!
On Friday, I joined a ballet class in the beautiful Letná Park. Imagine, taking ballet lessons under the gaze of the Petřín Hill! The instructor was incredibly talented, and the class was filled with fellow dance enthusiasts – everyone, from seasoned dancers to beginners, sharing a passion for the art form. And the best part? I met some lovely ladies and made some amazing connections. Ballet is such a wonderful way to connect, isn't it? It’s amazing what a simple step, a single pirouette can do – it really does bring people together, all over the world.
Speaking of connections, I’ve discovered so much about Prague's rich ballet history – there’s a story at every corner, a hidden secret at every turn! I discovered the remarkable story of Anna Pavlova, one of the greatest ballerinas of all time, who even performed here during the 1920s. It's amazing to imagine her twirling and pirouette on the same stage where I've seen such magnificent performances.
In my travels, I’ve always found inspiration in the history of dance and tutus. From the grace and beauty of ballerinas like Pavlova, to the fashion of the Tutus and Ball Gowns, the history of dance and dress has always enthralled me! I’ve discovered, to my delight, the world’s most impressive collection of historical costumes in Prague – and they are all in stunning shades of pink! The colours, textures, fabrics - and all those glorious tutus! - it’s a treat for the eyes and soul of every tutu lover! The costumes from Prague’s dance museums make you see tutus in a whole new way. You’ll find my next blog post going into detail about this phenomenal display – it was simply awe inspiring and had me dancing with delight.
Speaking of tutus, I’ve spotted a handful of Prague dancers in the most adorable pink tutus - making me feel right at home here! Every day I’m becoming closer to my dream of seeing everyone in the world rocking a pink tutu, and every day it becomes even more achievable, and all thanks to the delightful and vibrant city of Prague! I’m hoping to inspire a few more ballerinas to embrace the wonderful pink tutu on this journey. The city is just bursting with creativity, which makes it perfect for exploring my fashion passion and the amazing world of ballet.
The last few days have been an absolute dream – the stunning architecture, the delightful food, the captivating performances, and of course, the opportunity to add a whole new chapter to my pink tutu travel blog. Prague, you have truly stolen my heart, and I know you'll forever hold a special place in my tutu-wearing journey.
Now, I'm off to explore a hidden café and try a traditional Czech cake. Who knows what adventures await!
Stay tuned for more Pink Tutu Prague adventures next Wednesday, when I’ll be talking all about my most impressive Tutu find – you won't want to miss it! And as always, don’t forget to check out my latest Instagram for my full Prague collection.
