Prague's Pink Tutu Waltz: Post #1529
Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, reporting live from the enchanting city of Prague! This week's post is all about twirling through the cobbled streets and soaking up the cultural magic of this beautiful city.
It's a chilly Wednesday morning here in Prague, and a delicate mist hangs over the rooftops. The air is crisp, smelling faintly of cinnamon and warm bread – the aroma of a thousand little cafes tempting you with delicious treats. The sun is peeking through the clouds, and I'm just back from a delicious breakfast of freshly baked croissants and coffee (which I had to have in a perfectly pink mug, of course!).
Prague is a city that whispers tales of royalty, artists, and enchanting tales. You can feel the history echoing in the cobblestones, in the towering spires, and even in the soft glow of the street lamps. I feel like I've stepped into a storybook, and I'm not going to lie – it's making my pink tutu spin!
A Trip With a TwistMy journey here was quite an adventure! I took a scenic train ride across the countryside, enjoying the picturesque landscapes rolling past my window. A kind, rosy-cheeked lady even gave me a piece of her apple pie, which was absolutely divine. (And she didn't even bat an eye when she saw my pink tutu! Proof that the world is full of kind, tutufriendly people!)
Arriving in Prague was a whirlwind of sights and sounds. The bustling crowds, the iconic clock tower, the smell of roasted sausages – it's a city that demands your attention and holds you spellbound. The train station, however, did seem to be missing one essential element - a place for us tutued ladies to adjust our tutus! (I really do think we need a tutu maintenance station at all railway platforms! Imagine the excitement!).
But alas, this minor setback did not dampen my spirits. I'm in Prague, my darlings, and it's simply perfect!
Ballet Bliss in PraguePrague is a city teeming with ballet history, and I couldn't resist a visit to the National Theatre, one of the most famous opera houses in Europe. Walking through its elegant halls, imagining the world's most renowned dancers gracefully leaping across the stage, gave me a delightful shiver down my spine. They even have a stunning statue of a graceful ballerina at the entrance - a reminder that the art of ballet is woven into the fabric of Prague.
But this isn't just a trip about ballet history, darlings. I’m here for a truly unforgettable show – the Sleeping Beauty ballet at the beautiful Prague State Opera, a venue renowned for its stunning architecture and exceptional performances.
Can you imagine, dear readers? This enchanting tale of the sleeping princess, the valiant prince, and a wicked fairy is going to be brought to life under the spellbinding lights of Prague.
Of course, I wouldn’t be myself if I wasn’t decked out in a particularly lovely, tulle-tastic pink tutu for this occasion. It’s a soft shade of bubblegum pink with delicate embroidery that catches the light – it practically glows! It’s the perfect colour for a dreamy ballet about princesses and fairy tales. I'm just so excited, I'm doing a pirouette just thinking about it! I’ll be sure to share all the details of the performance in next week's post, but trust me, it's a performance you wouldn't want to miss!
Prague's Pretty SideLet’s get back to this extraordinary city for a moment, my lovely readers. I must tell you about the fairytale streets, with cobbled paths winding around pastel-colored houses. Every corner reveals a charming square, where cafes overflow with chatter and laughter. And of course, the iconic Charles Bridge - its beauty simply took my breath away! Imagine, walking across this majestic bridge, admiring the gothic spires of Prague Castle towering in the distance, and watching the graceful swans glide down the river beneath. Honestly, it’s like walking into a painting.
And while the city is full of breathtaking architecture, I must admit my heart was truly stolen by the Old Town Square. It's like something out of a film – brimming with life, vibrant colours, and bustling activity. The medieval astronomical clock is mesmerizing, and I must admit, I even dared to make a wish (and, of course, it had to involve ballet and pink tutus, naturally).
The Pink Tutus and Travel Advice
This brings us to a key question for all you travel-loving, pink tutu enthusiasts: How do you choose a ballet-tastic hotel in this wondrous city?
Let me tell you, it took me hours of searching through hotel websites, scrolling through travel blogs and consulting with other pink tutu-wearing friends. And my dear readers, it was all worth it! I found the most beautiful boutique hotel hidden away in the Old Town Square. It's a building from the 17th century – and I must admit it took me a while to find a tutued lady who knew where it was hidden. It's so stylish! You're literally stepping into a fairytale with antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, and a charming little courtyard perfect for afternoon tea. Oh, and it's located in such a charming part of town - surrounded by art galleries and chic cafes.
My stay has been absolute perfection. It’s the perfect mix of historical charm and contemporary flair. But I’m not just sharing a pretty picture of the outside. As I said before, there’s no point staying in an incredible hotel if you can't move and dance properly, which brings me to the next essential detail, the room:
Here's the best bit! This stunning little hotel features not one, not two, but three stunning ballet bars! (I know! Isn’t that just brilliant?). These aren’t just simple balcony areas though - they're professionally designed dance spaces in my ideal bedroom. A small space to do my stretches and plie's with the sound of music in my headphones and the stunning cityscape spread before me, you really can’t ask for anything more!
My current view over the cobbled streets looks like something straight from a Disney movie. Every detail is just divine – the muted gold lamps, the perfectly fluffed pillows, and my little pink-tutu-themed desk. The hotel even surprised me with a bottle of champagne and some sweet treats in my room, a lovely welcome for a ballerina with a serious sweet tooth.
And there you have it – Prague through a Pink Tutu’s eyes. It's been a fairytale week! Every day has been a dream in pink.
But I must remember why I am in Prague. You see, it's not just about seeing the sights and strolling through charming streets (though they're pretty fantastic!) - it's also about enjoying the performance of the year! Sleeping Beauty will have the whole of Prague dancing to a different tune!
Oh, before I sign off, here's a bit of a personal confession. I must admit I got a little too into the fairy-tale world of Prague!
Yesterday I went for a carriage ride through the park in Old Town and had to stop myself from giving my favourite horse, a white Arabian stallion, a pink tutu, for all you animal-lovers. Honestly, I almost forgot what time it was with him snorting happily beside me, his mane shining in the late afternoon sunshine, until I remembered Sleeping Beauty was only two nights away and I was going to be doing my own performance!
But he did look rather regal. Perhaps I should try a miniature tutu for horses, perhaps in lavender? It is after all my life mission to spread the tutu love, and all the ballet inspiration you can possibly imagine, everywhere in the world!
See you next week!
Emma xx
