Pink Tutu Prague: Post #1541 - A Fairytale City and a Ballet Dream 🩰✨
Hello my lovely tutu-loving darlings! It's Emma here, back from the most enchanting trip to Prague! You won't believe the fabulous adventures I had in this beautiful, fairytale city! Just imagine cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and an atmosphere that whispers of waltzes and elegant soirées. Yes, darling, this place is absolutely made for pink tutus!
It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means? New Pink Tutu Prague adventures are coming your way! As always, I'm back in my studio after a whirlwind journey, carefully documenting my adventures in Prague. Get ready to be swept away on a tutu-fied whirlwind of fashion, food, and oh-so-much ballet!
But before we start, you know I love a bit of backstory, don't you? So let's have a little tutu history lesson! Now, while the tutus you see me wear are classic, flowing, and totally chic, did you know that tutus actually have a pretty interesting past? Back in the 19th century, ballet dancers wore these bulky, layered skirts. Yikes! I can't imagine swirling around in that! But the marie tutu as it's called, with its layered look and flouncy ruffles, were the style back then, although some did manage to get that gorgeous floaty movement.
Then came the Romantic tutu in the early 1800s - think ethereal and slightly more flowing - perfect for portraying whimsical fairies! By the mid-19th century, we finally got the tutu we know and love today – the classic tutu - a simple but gorgeous design, with a fitted bodice and a full, fluffy skirt! So, that’s my mini tutu history lesson!
Now, darling, Prague has just this amazing combination of classic and romantic - you can get a real sense of history in this city. Of course, there's loads of delicious chocolate, fabulous boutiques and markets with adorable vintage finds, and enough coffee to keep your feet tapping for a week! This city has stolen my heart, so let's go back to the 18th of December and revisit those lovely Prague days…
The Dance of the CityFirst up, the reason for my trip! Yes, Prague, with its magical air, was the perfect setting for an amazing ballet performance, and what better way to see this city than through the grace of dancers in beautiful costumes? Imagine a night of breathtaking artistry, perfectly executed steps, and stories told through the expressive movements. I saw [Name of Show] at the beautiful [Theater name] - it was pure enchantment! I took photos, naturally. My camera loves to capture these special moments!
Speaking of fashion, I just adore the atmosphere in Prague! The combination of historical charm and vibrant street culture creates this amazing juxtaposition. And you can dress up and really get into it here, which is a bonus! My new velvet jacket? Well, it was a perfect fit for the city! I mean, Prague is like a vintage Parisian dream! I even popped into [Boutique name] – they had a simply fabulous array of velvet and silk, and naturally I couldn't resist indulging in a little sartorial therapy. It’s a real treat to shop here!
Of course, I'm wearing pink! You know me! For a ballerina like me, pink just feels so vibrant and full of life. I paired my dusty pink tutu with a stunning embroidered cream bodice for a touch of vintage elegance, and to add to the fairy tale vibe! The streets of Prague became my personal stage, and with every click of my heels, I felt like the most enchanting fairy dancing through the cobblestone squares.
From Horse to Horse-drawn CarriageBut before Prague, my journey began in Derbyshire. My love of travel, well it has no boundaries! You see, this week was different because I took my beloved chestnut mare, Whisper, on the journey to Prague! Now, don’t think it was all meadows and pretty lanes - it was a long trek for a horse! Whisper's stamina was astounding. But it made the journey even more special and I have to say Prague has a wonderful sense of peace. So that’s why Prague felt the perfect place to let Whisper have a bit of time off - to recover from the adventure, she got a full pampering from the locals at [Name of stable], while I explored the city in a rather splendid horse-drawn carriage. It was like stepping back in time, a perfect romantic touch for my magical trip. The whole experience made my heart sing!
The Food & The FeelingMy inner gourmand went wild in Prague! The streets were lined with cute cafes and bakeries, all of which were just calling my name. Imagine the smell of fresh cinnamon and honey pastries and strong coffee. Heavenly! I took photos of each one as the window displays were works of art in themselves. The pastry chefs here really go all out, don't they? I did find some great vegetarian options, which were wonderful because I am so strict with my veggie-lifestyle. We love to treat our furry friends to some yummy treats and it made such a difference for Whisper too!
And speaking of yummy treats, Prague’s food scene has to be seen to be believed. So much delicious food - everything from decadent Czech pastries and cakes to hearty traditional stews and schnitzels, perfect for warming you up on a chilly Prague day. You know me, I tried everything - the whole hog! But even amidst all the delightful flavours, it's the feeling of the city that truly sets Prague apart. The architecture is stunningly elegant – all those tall spires reaching for the clouds, it's almost as if the buildings themselves are participating in the dance of the city. And the cobbled streets, with their hidden corners and unexpected passages… Prague whispers tales of old times and romantic walks! It was perfect for twirling, with my pink tutu.
I truly feel I could wander through these cobbled lanes for hours on end, taking in every enchanting detail, each sight making my inner ballerina yearn to capture its beauty. Prague's magic is impossible to explain in just a few words; it's an atmosphere, a feeling you just have to experience for yourself.
Finding The Ballet SceneThere’s another reason for my visit this week, it’s not all about the magic. My big love is ballet. I have to get my own practice in. You know, my tutu gets itchy if I don’t have some ballet stretches! I took ballet class at [Name of dance school] and, I met the most fabulous ballet teacher ever - I found it in [Name of website] which is a website for finding dance studios - it really comes in handy for dancers when you're on the road. I even took my pink tutu with me to class, I have to say that they looked on in awe - you have to say that a Derbyshire pink tutu in a Prague dance studio was quite an experience for them. They weren't quite used to such flair, but I did find a great vintage boutique just across the road where I purchased an emerald green silk shirt that looked pretty impressive - if I say so myself! It’s got a whole vintage vibe that looked just perfect.
Prague's ballet scene is vibrant, and after my lovely class I found out more about the city’s dance heritage. And as my pink tutu journey never stops, I visited the Prague State Opera House - I’ll leave you with some snaps - a truly beautiful building, where they've been entertaining audiences with the magic of dance since the 18th century! Now that's what I call dedication!
Till Next TimeSo darling, this has been an amazing trip, the perfect ballet-filled fairy tale. Don't you love the feeling of discovering a place that truly captures the spirit of ballet, a place where history whispers elegance and charm at every corner? It's the perfect setting to to dream in pink!
Now I'm back in my studio, ready to work my ballet magic - after all, my next pink tutu adventure isn't too far away, is it? Don't forget to tune in next Wednesday for a new adventure with Pink Tutu. See you next week, darlings!
